However, according to some information out here, most of them got the oil blocs for free... Heck, the Chagoury(Lebanese thieves) also got a few oil blocs for free from their cronies in the Nigerian government...

How is it going to be difficult?? Nigerian government owns everything in Nigeria and the government can take all the oil blocs back... They highest the aggrieved thieves can do is to go to court to seek compensation....

Oh yea? Then we'll see how this goes...

Nah, next time don't tell me your status... I never asked you if you're rich or poor, and I'm allergic to stupidity and showing off... The real rich people don't make noise about it, they let the money do the talking... Money talks, bullshyte walks...

You completely misunderstood my comment. You basically generalized your comment and i had to counter that claim. Never said i was "rich", you basically ascribed that role to me but nonetheless its aii.

shymexx: Even if they revoke all the licenses, it's still going to be business as usual... Just a few southern elites getting richer, and the rest of the country would still be in abject poverty...

The most logical thing to do is to nationalise the oil... However, with the level of corruption in Nigeria, that would also be problematic as well... So, it's basically a lose lose situation no matter how you look at it because the system itself is messed up...

May God help Nigeria!! undecided

Please explain what you mean by "Nationalise the oil"

well of course your parents are rich (perhaps through oil/government contracts) and connected so you would have no problem with nigeria.

That's a silly thing some people tell themselves...

Education is a great tool to success anywhere in the world. I never said there are no problems with Nigeria, did i?.... Stop looking at Nigeria from just your perspective, rather rely on facts.

I'm in school at the moment even if my parents are whatever. I have friends who really don't have to work a day in their lives... Parents own yatchs, never flown economy and shi like that..... Like the money is that much, but still they go to school. Education is a tool to success in any part of the world just like I've said before.
Politics / Re: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by Godogwu: 6:30am On Mar 05, 2013
Anyone can always write a sob story to pull a specific crowd. There are thousands of success stories with respect to people gaining degrees from foreign institutions and deciding to work in Nigeria. My cousins who graduated not to long ago (2011, 2012) all have good/modest jobs. P.S all of them schooled outside the country.

Secondly it depends on what exactly you studied, wherever you studied. You don't study public speaking or sociology and expect to get a job at once you step your foot back into the country. There are careers in high demand in Nigeria and there are careers that are of less demand also. Then again how well did you do in that degree, you really don't expect a company to hire you with a third class when there are second class and first class applicants queing for that same position no?

Finally, I won't despute the fact that there are people who labored hard through school who are jobless, obviously there are but that's a factor in every part of the world. I won't also say favoritism is non-existent, well if I own a company I'd rather hire my nephew over any stranger even though they have thesame qualification and all. That being said, i personally believe there are lots and lots of enterprenueral opportunities in Nigeria... You cannot always rely on the FG to hand over jobs to every graduate out there (even the ones that don't merit it).. Go out and do something for yourself rather than lament on a forum.

IgboUK: poor nigerians, instead of u to discuss on nigeria being a failing country and how to improve it = your are obsessing over celebrities
Why is Nigeria, like most of Africa in SUCH AN APPALING STATE and no one cares!?
Look.

Slavery and colonization hundreds of years of oppression, caused many problems.

BUT NOW THE MAIN PROBLEM IS CORRUPTION / POOR GOVERNMENT - nigerian senators get paid 250 million naira a year, the equivalent of 1 million pounds.

People say, "Oh Nigeria is a new country you can't blame them" - it has been over 50 years!!!!

I am not saying they should be UK standard, but they used to have their own airlines, they had 24/7 electricity etc... but they don't have that anymore, they have poor infrastructure, dirty place, no roads, no electricity, no good education, no health care, appalling security - Nigeria is a country with so much potential but has become SO USLESS.

Even the younger generation are bad - can you believe I asked my cousin who lives in Nigeria, whether he wants to help change Nigeria and they BOTH SAID they want to be politicians, not to improve the country - but to steal money. One was kinder though, he said if he got 10 million he would steal 2 million and use 8 million, unlike the Nigerians of today who steal 8 million and use 2 million.

Dude!!! Chill the F$&k out!!!.... Your type just complains and complains with no actual solution to anything. Nigeria is not a failed country goddamit! Go and read stats; growing middle class, GDP, infrastructure, industries, employment etc....frankly no senator earns 250million naira a year ( no?, then prove it!). I don't even know what you mean by no roads, no electricity and bla.... But I'll just let that slide cos i knw the Nigeria I live in.
Your cousins or nephews or whatever are just poor minded and shallow minded people, well I'd believe they are still kids. Forgive me but a lot of 5yr olds in the US want to be the next barrack Obama not because they want to change anything either but because they want to be the PRESIDENT.

You sound extremely bitter though.... Well that aside, Nigeria has the largest entertainment industry in Africa and not everyone is caught up in political discussions, all what not. Sometimes its good to just chill you know smiley

I'm also bitter that you keep getting two likes for every comment you make from your new gay friends. Two utterly ignorant clowns like yourself (Manny4life and the red-eyed Truckpusher).

You moro.n, the fact that a person hasnt finished paying for a home out here does not indicate whether they are wealthy or not. Gawwd, you still have a long ways to go to understand how this place works, dont you? So, you think if Leonardo Di Caprio, Eddie Murphy, or Miley Cyrus decided to buy a $20million mansion, and they put up a down payment and signed a 15 or 30-yr Mortgage it would mean they are "definitely not broke, but they are not rich or wealthy" because they did not foo.lishly plunk down the whole cash? My boy, they will buy your father. And since we are in boasting season.... I'll probably be able to buy your father. And If I cant, I know my Father definitely will be able to.

kufre2010: The logic is that majority of Nigerians in diaspora are politician children who stole d country and send their children abroad. Majority of our politician children don't stay in Nigeria. Politicians investment are abroads, their children school abroad, they go medical check up abroad. Our politician embezzled the money in Nigeria to developed other countries. They are white men in black bodies.

You see it's this kind of mentality i find utterly disgusting but if I'd say anything, I'll probably be labeled arrogant and all sort of rubbish..... Well screw that;

The Nigerians in diaspora are politicians kids? Please how many politicians are there in the country? Do you have an idea how many million Nigerians are in the diaspora? Like!! What is this rubbish

Many of politicians kids don't stay in Nigeria? Please how many do you know, where are your goddamn facts man?!

Politicians investments are abroad..... You do know that being a politician is not a "career" choice right, you do know these politicians were engineers, doctors, accountants, practicing graduates for years before they joined politics.. Yes? and that they currently earn salaries for whatever post they have been assigned by the government?

Do you know that there are broke politicians? Nahh I'm sure you wouldn't know that....

Yes, George, I read everything you wrote. You've boasted so much about your father and his supposed wealth--- while trying to put others down--- it's time to put your money where your mouth is. Try to recall that you called me out first by automatically assuming---without any proof--- that you were brought up in a more financially stable environment than I was. So, don't try to play the saint now. If the 18th is too close, I gave you other dates. If Manhattan is too far, Abuja and Lagos shouldn't be. Maybe because of the abject poverty you grew up around--- while ur family was the hood superstars--- u automatically think everyone else is broke. I see you even fo.olishly assumed that because people take out a mortgages in the United States they're broke. It's clear you just love writing checks with ur mouth that ur aszz can't cash. You wanna bet that that "Robbery" on campus was probably cus u boast too goddamn much?!

Anyway, best call ur Father and explain to him that someone just pulled yalls cards and that it's necessary he comes defend your family's honor or else ur rep as the golden cash money boy of Nairaland is in danger of being tarnished forever.

LOOOOOL, i see you misunderstood virtually everything i said. First of all you sound so, Iono.. Bitter? I'm not calling myself a saint and i have obviously said this over and over but I'll repeat it again, I don't brag, boast or whatever.... I basically just state the obvious; if you see that as bragging its entirely up to you. Secondly i never said or stated that people who use mortgages are broke like TF my aunt mortgages her house and she earns about $120,000 a year... She's definitely not broke but shes not rich or wealthy. This is because she doesn't own that home till shes done paying every penny of it.
Now finally i could careless what people on this forum think about me..... Like!! I cannot be bothered and i won't be little my Dad by bringing him to have any sort of discussion with a nitwit like yourself.

P.s the tone of your text sounds so bitter though, do you have a problem?

Back.. post coming right up

You use this word "whatsoever" very loosely. Have you ever put both circumstance into clear perspective? Nigeria has strict gun controls while the U.S. has free gun control? Reverse the equation again with Nigeria being the receiving nation (God forbid) and U.S. being the stricter nation, then come back and tell me what the result is.

For you to say "there's no random lunatic" particularly in Nigeria is plainly false. Citizens are victims of the law, and law enforcement officials daily, so I strongly believe that has qualified them as lunatics with assault riffles. On the issue of where they carry out killing like in schools, it only takes for the tides to change. If Nigerian citizens could carry a registered weapon in public, this you wouldn't be saying.

I've said this before and i'll say it again, there's no random LUNCATIC in Nigeria that would just go about shooting 5-6 or 7 year old kids for absolutely nothing!!. That aside; there kiddnapping, armed robbery, jungle justice, and all that. These situations have motives to them kidnapping; money...armed robbery:money....Jungle justice: No confidence in the justice system etc. Why exactly a full grown man would kill all those kids for no reason is utterly outrageous.

You can keep ranting on how Nigeria is failed, Nigeria is corrupt, its a Sh!t hole, nothing works...bla bla bla bla....it would never move me or so many other Nigerians who actually believe in their country. You left, thats good for you but some of rather stay back and toil and strive till the country rises to her even greater heights. Cheers smiley

Oh yeah? Your "Luxury", my "Misfortune", ba?

Anyone can be anything on the internet but....

Lets put this to the test real quick.

On Monday the 18th of this Month, at the W Hotel in Manhattan a private meeting/gathering will commence between these same men whom you glorify--- men whom even your father dares not meet their eyes if privileged to be in their presence .They have tagged it a meeting to "save" Nigeria. Why dont you come--- ALONG WITH YOUR FATHER---just to put his so-called wealth and the influence and power of your last name to the test? Im being dragged there by my Dad. I bet you whatever amount you want to put up that you and your father will never make it past the front door. You must be insane thinking that everyone who wishes for equality has financial issues. There are people who know me and my family on here, who knows you or your father?

If Manhattan is too far (I dont see how it should be, afterall, everyone else is flying in from Nigeria), in about 2weeks another of such meetings will happen in D.C. If you also claim thats also far, theres another 3 such meetings slated for late Feb-early March in Abuja. Then sometime in early-mid March another will happen in Dubai to decide how they'll finally seal your fates and control the destiny of idio.ts like yourself. I bet you all I need is once and I'll deflate that lil ego of yours.

If youre up for the challenge, lemme know and I'll furnish you with a temporary contact. I bet, after I'm done with both of you, you'll never look at your father the same way again.

Did you re-read what you just wrote? So i should pick up the phone and call my dad to come to the US on the 18h just because some person on nairaland who he has no buisness with can see him or no wait, i should drag him to a meeting he wasn't invited just because its focus is on saving Nigeria? and so they can kick us out because we weren't on the list? . I really don't get your point. Frankly I'm not the type that gets intimidated by anyone, not at all...lets just say I have a very high self esteem; in the sense that I wouldnt bow to you if you can feed my entire generation, nahh G. I give respect where repect is due.

Now back to reality... I get that you are fighting for equality but the absolute fact is that Inequality in the society will always be there in every society. I believe in SOC 101, the functionalist perspective agrees that inequality in any society is needed for social balance. What everyone is actually fighting for is an "even playing field" that is; equal level of opportunities, equal level of respect etc, I believe thats the point you are trying to make and I totally support it. Nevertheless, I would like to state that no matter how equal the oppportunities in a society there would always be the ones who suffer and struggle, the ones who smile everyday and the ones who are just in between...ALWAYS!, its inevitable.

He thinks Nigerians living in the U.S. are hungry, he thinks mortgaging (financing) is poverty. The few recent threads(about 6months old) tell of his type. Anyway, the dude needs reality check.

Ohh i remember you.... How you been, i liked most of your posts on the whole debate you had with that Ghanian dude, you showed great intellect.

Now I don't think all Nigerians who live in the US are struggling but i believe and its a fact that most of them are, just a few we're able to utilize the opportunities. Same applies to the ones in Nigeria, obviously a greater amount of the population is suffering or struggling but that doesn't dispute the fact that there are the ones who live the "okay" life. I believe that paying for a house for over 20 years can no way be defined as success, you may not be poor but you are definitely not rich. This is because if at some you are unable to continue with that payment for some reason, you loose that property.

I've said this several times, I'm not rich, neither is my family, we just make up the very strong and growing middle class of Nigeria. I know rich people and i know how they live..... Maybe by your standards, but by my standards nahh
