Politics / Re: 24-hr Curfew Imposed On Parts Of Maiduguri by hafeesa: 6:46pm On May 19, 2013
imperiouxx: I said this before. All I want is all day curfew and continue killing without given us their number. Anyone outside has committed treason against the Federal Rep. of Nigeria and her states...... Such person is a felony, just strike the person down and report "an object had been removed". Ba damua!

What?
In every war, innocent people suffer. The best we can hope for is these evil-doers are brought to justice speedily. There is no doubt that people may starve, medical emergencies will come up, not all our brave soldiers will return the same way the left. This is the harsh reality of the situation. We, however owe it to them to pray for their safety and the downfall of all boko haram supporters and members. My prayer is simple;
Every man, woman, hemaphrodite who has in one way or another encouraged/ supported/ financed the atrocities and crimes against humanity carried out by boko haram will suffer the anger of the Almighty. All the curses in our Holy Books, bothe the Bible and Quran will be visited upon these animals and their families. For every drop of innocent blood they have shed, they will shed a thousand. Every life is sacred, this is what my Creator's words taught me.they have chosen to ignore my Father, therefore He shall rain fire and brimstone upon them and their generations to come.
May God bring our soldiers back hale and hearty.
Amen!
Family / Re: Update; I Am 31 And getting married soon by hafeesa: 6:27pm On May 12, 2013
In other countries, this may not be a big deal but we have to be realistic, our society puts a lot of pressure on women once they clock 30 and are still single so I understand your frustration.
However, I have to say if you allow desperation to conquer common sense, you'll end up with a marriage you'll end up regretting for the rest of your life.

Secondly, travelling frequently to the UK is not a criteria. Many uneducated, rude and ill-mannered people do too so you might want to leave that out of an introductory statement to a real contender.

Thirdly, I'm not really feeling the '31 and still living with my parents' thing. What if you meet a guy and he wants to come over for lunch or dinner or you want to show off your cooking skills or something? I don't know about you guys but I don't think the 'meet the family' routine should happen early in a relationship. Frankly, I don't think it should happen at all until you're absolutely certain you're on solid ground with a man. However, opinions tend to differ on the matter so. . .well, I'm sure you know best.

Also, are you absolutely sure you're not setting your standards too high? How flashy is your car? Do you dress in a flamboyant manner with the huge dark shades on? Do you wear too much make-up? I have a LOT of brothers and one opinion they all have in common; flashy girls = mistresses or playthings. This may seem shallow, personally I think it is shallow but first impressions really go a long way.if you have 28inches brazilian hair on, red painted long nails, long eyelashes and really flashy make up on, you'll have a guy calculating his account balance before walking up to you.
BUT, you may have simply been meeting the wrong guys. We can at least agree that there are many of them out there. You could be a wonderful woman who will make a good guy really happy someday. So please, don't get desperate. Look inwards, try to fix whatever you think could be working against you. Maintain a strong self confidence but never be arrogant. Know your true worth and don't settle for less. God will bring you the one that belongs to you. As yoruba people will say, o oni fe oko oloko. I wish you the very best. God bless.

Politics / Re: Police Killing In Nasarawa: Gov. Al-makura May Be Indicted By Security Report by hafeesa: 9:48am On May 10, 2013
Is it just me or are the two stories contradictory?
The question I keep asking is how did they get the information that policemen were on their way? They obviously have a snitch in their midst so how can any of their plans work when this informant would simply send the message to his real employers?

RIP to the fallen.

May the souls of those who lost their lives yesterday rest in peace and may God give their families strength to overcome such a trying period in their lives.

That being said, the police officers who let their emotions get the better of them, or should I say their arrogance, have done nothing but take the sting out of the deaths of their colleagues. Nigerians home and away were outraged over the evil actions taken against these men but now, many may just begin to think they are no better than terrorists. How are we supposed to join them in mourning their colleagues when they have shown themselves to be unrepentant terrorists? How can they treat with such disrespect the men who are tasked with the duty of saving their lives and treating their injured? Poor training at its height!

Romance / Re: How I Taught My Boastful Date A Lesson by hafeesa: 9:17pm On May 09, 2013
There is no one without a flaw. Bragging may have been his flaw but you chose to capitalise on that without even bothering to consider his good sides. For all you know if you had simply tried being honest about your perception of him to him, he would have changed or at least made an effort to. If you had been patient and understanding as well as honest, you could have won yourself a friend for life but now you'll never know for sure and you never know if or where you two will meet again. He may have been a braggart but what impression do you think he now has of you?
He might have been a bad date but weren't a good one either. Honesty goes a long way, you should try it sometimes.
PS: he may also have been a tad insecure. Some men tend to ramble when they're with a beautiful lady who makes them insecure. He could have been talking like that to hide the fact that you intimidate him. Point is, I am not entirely sure you acted properly. . . But that's just my opinion. . .

djustice: This is the sort of crazy sh1t that homosexuals do. Rochas's "wife" is his deputy, who was caught sodomising some Local Government monitoring team guy by the fellow's wife at Disney hotel.

Imo people need to vote out Rochas Okorocha and his sodomists harem.
I'm not entirely sure I understand you. . .Rochas' wife was caught sodomizing someone? With what? Aren't men the ones who sodomize unless a woman uses an instrument, of course but seriously? The first lady of Imo state was caught sodomizing someone? Sorry, but where did you get this information from? I would really like to read up on it. . .if it's true anyway. . .
Webmasters / Re: Boy, 14, Launches Social-Networking Website by hafeesa: 1:04pm On Apr 19, 2013
quote author=bright_edge]Well, coming from a 14 year old, I'll say its impressive.

BTW, from a programming perspective, I don't think the website is really innovative (judging from the meaning of the word). Its basically a content management system, see http://grou.ps/home. The CMS is not very popular but it has existed since 2005. I commend his efforts because I've not done much myself. But that does not take away the fact that we have to more creative.
[/quote]

*raised eyebrow*
It's beautiful! It's wonderful having a Nigerian, especially one so young, pull off something this innovative. I admire him and for the first time in a rather long while, he makes me proud to be Nigerian. In the midst of all the ugliness and evil that have taken over the news for quite some time now, it's a joyous relief to have this bit of news that shows such promise and talent.
I don't care which part of the country he's from, he's Nigerian and all Nigerians should be proud. I already signed up in fact. He's definitely made his parents proud.

This is a man practicing democracy in its true form. The needs of the people he is representing is his major concern. He is unafraid of questioning the status quo of paying allegiance to the Igbinedion family. More of this please. . .if only other governors would follow suit. . .

Foreign Affairs / Re: Letter With Poisonous Ricin Sent To Obama by hafeesa: 6:10pm On Apr 17, 2013
Feed me more: Ricin is lab-made, so it shouldn't be hard too track it down...and the letter should be easy, too...fingerprints, postmark, cameras in post offices, etc.

I very much doubt someone who makes an attempt to murder the US president will be dumb enough to leave fingerprints or postmarks that can be traced to him or allow his face to be captured on camera. . .however, I could be wrong since he obviously wasn't smart enough to realise that a letter addressed to the president would obviously be screened thoroughly before it gets to him.
I could also be wrong though, for all we know his intention may not have been to kill him but to put the country in a state of fear. Well, guess Nigeria is not the only country with lunatics, we just don't know how to handle our lunatics.
God protect us all from heartless, evil psychopaths.
Politics / Re: Asari-Dokubo To MEND: Don’t Start A Religious Crisis In Nigeria by hafeesa: 12:52pm On Apr 16, 2013
Hmm. . .interesting. I think this is the first time he has ever made any sense to me. What I don't get is if he's saying there is no MEND, then who are the people being paid stipends who are recognised as members of MEND? Also if they know that the militant leaders are stealing from their foot soldiers, can't they be disciplined by the government for that or does amnesty also cover future crimes? *just asking*
Politics / Re: Zuma Visits Nigeria To Mend Bridges by hafeesa: 12:38pm On Apr 16, 2013
Inik: President Zuma is free to visit Nigeria anytime he likes. Nigeria and South Africa are brothers.....but the South Africans should admit that Nigeria is the elder brother

That was probably true under the Murtala/Obasanjo regime which was the peak of our strength as a contender in the international community but I don't think Nigeria has been the elder brother for a while now. Even the article we're commenting on clearly states South Africa's economy is way better than ours. Their poverty rate is lower as well as their per capita income. Right now, the only thing that still makes us the giant of africa is our size and population. We have oil, they have diamonds yet they've managed to be a whole lot more organized regarding their policy formulation and execution.they have outstanding infrastructures which is an area we still fall short in. Before we can start trying to compete for leadership with south africa in africa, we need to get our acts together first.
Just my thought though. . .

This is a move in the right direction. Hopefully, Jonathan can pull this off without standing with his hands behind his back this time.
I actually feel Nigeria's absence on the international scene has been somewhat glaring under the present administration. The Mali situation would have been a good opportunity to re-establish our image and influence in the African continent but guess that wasn't to be. I think we should all pray that Jonathan doesn't do anything to embarrass us during this meeting. . .Amen!
Politics / Re: 'Repentant' Militants Go On Rampage In Bayelsa by hafeesa: 12:11pm On Apr 16, 2013
ebere1712: Why should someone claiming to fight for the masses as a militant request money for himself. Nigerians wouldn't seize to amaze me. I mean if u are a Niger Delta militant, you should fight for the people, not for urselve(even armed robbers in Nigeria can claim to be victims of the government's mismanagement of the country). If their is any real militant, he/she shd start demanding that jobs be created for the masses(instead of waiting for foreign investment), and public infrastructures maintained and upgraded. That's the job of a militant. I mean, I don't blame anybody for trying to cut his own national cake in this nit wit called Nigeria, but they shd pls stop making militancy look like a crime. Mandela was a militant, martin Luther king was a militant, ojukwu was a militant, zik was a militant, 2pac shakur was a militant. These are respectable people that fought along side and for their people. So if Mend and their leadership want to be remembered as militants and not criminals, they shd start acting like respectable people and stop demanding money for themselves. They shd rather demand things like social security and free education for the niger delta people . As for the Nigerian government, I think we can all agree that they are all bunch of criminals.

I agree with most of your points. There's a thin line between being a militant and being a criminal. All the money they made from their criminal activities were not in any way used to correct the wrongs they so nagged about in their region. They lived like kings while the region still remained poor. They never made any donations to communities. They did absolutely nothing for their region except terrorise it. They should stop talking about advocating for anything, that's just propaganda they used to get their people to support them. They are purely crminals. If they have problems with the millions the government has decided to pay them, they should probably arrange a meeting with Tompolo who Jonathan decided to grant the contract of patrolling our waterways, or Asari Dokubo who practically maintains a permanent residence in the villa. Or have these 'leaders' forgotten them now that they've become pallys with Jonathan? Bunch of ignorant miscreants! They've been used and forgotten and now their lower - level leaders are syphoning their pay-offs? Really sad when criminals can't trust their fellow criminals. . .isn't it?
Politics / Re: Repentant Abia Criminals Demand For Amnesty by hafeesa: 11:42am On Apr 16, 2013
Who exactly determined they're repentant? They abandoned the camp set up for them by the Abia state government when they realised the federal government paid 'repentant' criminals better. . .they obviously still have greed in them.
So what now? They have abandoned the state government's amnesty programme and the federal government is yet to recognise them. I guess these days, all it takes to get the government's attention is to commit a crime.
Is that what we've come to? The average graduate is yet to get a job while a common criminal who has most likely committed murder is being sponsored abroad to take courses by the federal government. . .very soon everyone will realise it's better to be a criminal than to be an upstanding citizen of this beautiful country with irresponsible policy makers.

Romance / Re: I'm In Love With My Girlfriend, But The Bride Price Is Just Too Much by hafeesa: 10:09am On Apr 16, 2013
angelsing: why i my do only one who thinks this is a complete fabrication of the Op mind..5million?.pls come up wit a better lie

It could actually be true. I know of a friend's case. He spent almost 3million on the cash aspect of the bride price, that's excluding the palm wine and stuff. This was about 3years ago. It was when they split up last year that we, his friends actually realised just how much he spent. The family, of course are yet to refund the bride price, though I'm not entirely sure they're supposed to. Not too familiar with their tradition. The girl is also from Imo state, can't remember the name of her village though.
Point is, some people actually have rather ridiculous traditions when it comes to marriages. However, I don't think we need to be tribalistic about it. All tribes have their various shortcomings. More enlightened Ibo families these days are a lot more reasonable in regards to marriage practices. I don't think it has anything to do with tribe, I think it's all about exposure. Just my thought though. . .I'm sure you all have yours. . .
