If this "story" is untrue, then i think Seun should take action against the poster.

It is NOT funny spreading rumours about people's alleged "deaths". It is unscrupulous and shows a lack of credibility. One of the rules of this forum is to post a link about any story.

@Imani
Thank a lot dear for the info. So the two years will not count when it comes to ILR? Hmmm - Interesting. Thanks once again for the info.

No, it doesnt count except if ILR is applied for on the basis of "long residence", which is a concession catergory. This what students who have been in the UK for up to 10 years apply for to get ILR. Currently, if a person does maybe 4 years of University and then PHD, and then qualifies for the Tier one visa, the individual does not need to go through the work permit or Tier one route anymore. But the 10 years has restrictions. You can check the BIA website for more information.

Londoncool, please help me out here. Thanks

Alrite i am off this thread for today. . .

Therefore pein, jackal and 4play, you guys have fun and knock yourselves out, in a nice way of course grin

Let the champaign start flowing wink Chelsea cant stop you winning the league

4play, Jackal et al,

Glad you guys have come out in full force against the Arsenal.

Fokplay, stop exposing your "ignorance". Wenger never said, we could win the title. One of the players did. Too much London metro is not good for you tongue
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Imani(f): 4:16pm On May 03, 2008
@ pain or is it pein grin

We will all have to wait and see, innit?

I wish you guys all the luck. . . .and like i said earlier may the best team win.

I will post the link if i find it. It is called the "Statement of Intent" and dated december 5, 2007.

The other clause to this particular category is that the 2 years DO NOT count towards the period of leave to obtain ILR

4 Play:

All this "bad belle" because your team ended up trophyless for the 3rd successive season. grin

Chelsea only beat us because we didn't field our strongest available side.We have played the better football of the 2 in both competitions and got to the final playing tough teams like Roma,Lyon and Barcelona and conceding only one goal in the process.We are far more deserving.

The champions league is for champions.Utd as English champions is more deserving

Mr Fokplay, We gunners have no bad belle. grin Our season has crumbled before us, BUT we shall rise again grin

All these excuse about fielding weak teams, whose problem is that? I still think Chelsea deserve to win, even if just to kick Morinho in the teeth grin

how does chelsea deserve to win the UCL,united havnt lost in the UCL all season,have drawn just 2 matches and also have the record for most games without losing,while chelsea have.so why dnt we deserve to win it,cause cheslea beat pool?we beat pool week in and out!!

Exactly my point!!! You don't beat Chelsea week in week out.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Imani(f): 3:42pm On May 03, 2008
Jackal et al, abeg you guys free me jo. I am surprised 4play has not been on his usual anti-Arsenal rants lately

You guys made my point exactly. West Ham CAN play better than that and have taken points off united in recent times. Why is today any different? lipsrsealed

We gunners are very gracious though, and you guys deserve to win it and Chelsea deserve to win the Champions league. That way, everyone is served. wink
Travel / Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by Imani(f): 3:36pm On May 03, 2008
@Funkybaby,

Anybody schooling in the UK should qualify without any problems, provided they have graduated and have their original certificate.

There is no current extension for those in Scotland as they already have two years. The transition only applies to those with IGS.

I can't find the link that shows you how to calculate from the BIA website. Perhaps Londoncool can help out here.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Imani(f): 3:04pm On May 03, 2008
I think it is a shame when teams like West Ham just go to Man U to "roll over". Alan Curbishly must be very pleased with himself undecided
Travel / Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by Imani(f): 2:51pm On May 03, 2008
@Akolawole,

Labour has lost out big time. With Boris as the new mayor, and the tide shifting towards a conservative victory at the next general elections, we all have to see what immigration policies will unfold. The conservatives have been pushing for a limit on immigration anyway.

I like Ken Livingstone and was sad to see him go. I hope Boris will not block all the current "loopholes". As long as he serves London well, i don't really care.

@Funkybaby,

New graduates from 2008 will have to apply for the new "tier one, post study" category. The requirements are tougher than the IGS as it will be point based. It will take into account when you graduated, degree, where you graduated and applicants must get 75 points, in addition to maintenance funds. Original documents only will be accepted.

For those on IGS currently, there is a one off transition, in which they can apply for the 1 year extension. However, when they do, they have to still have "period of leave". For example, if someone is on IGS from December 2007 to December 2008, that person can get another one year to make up the two year in the new "tier one post study" category, as long as the application is made before the current IGS expires. Some people will lose out as their IGS will have expired before the new scheme is implemented. Each case is different.
Travel / Re: Uk Visa - Visa Appeal Process by Imani(f): 2:11pm On May 03, 2008
Akolawole:

@Pataki

It seems the IGS will be history soon

Wetin dey happen to the British people.

Its likely to affect our friend in the house, Paribus.

Anyone into this?

You are very correct. The immigration scene in the UK is changing. Whether this change is long term, remains to be seen. I think it was a knee jerk reaction to the current political feelings. Labour looks set to lose the next general election and are just buying thier time by instituting all these changes, albeit late ones.

The IGS/WISS will be replaced by Tier one "post study" category, which will be valid for 2 years instead of 1. It looks to be implemented towards the end of summer.
Romance / Re: What Do You Think About Being A House Wife ? by Imani(f): 12:39am On May 03, 2008
The idea of a housewife in the 21st century cannot work. In those days of complete housewives, families were a lot larger and there were not enough opportunities for women. With rising costs of living, women have to support their families, and more people live far away from where they grew up so there is not much to do around the same environment. Although, i do have respect for those that can organise and co-ordinate the unending tasks of the home everyday and still feel good about themselves. Strictly speaking, most women classified as "housewives" are probably "part time workers", in the sense that most have small scale side businesses that they fall on during the quiet times. Unless you are the queen or married to a very rich man, women have to "work" in some form. "Work" doesn't mean being employed only. It also involves working from home, self employment, contract jobs, that won't be classed as "regular" work. Most organisations are recognising the uniqueness of the situation involving women with children and therefore have policies that assist women to work and still maintain their homes.

The worst a woman can do is get all the degrees possible and decide to sit on her bum because hubby is rich. shocked
Health / Re: Many People Are Suffering In Silence. It's Called Depression! Lets Talk About It by Imani(f): 12:14am On May 03, 2008
4 Him:

Depression is not medically a disease. It has been so labelled by a generation overly eager to blame everything but themselves for their own inability to handle adverse situations.

Someone said that depression is clinically a chemical imbalance of the brain . . . i beg to disagree, alchohol and other chemical neuro-depressants do not produce the sad, melancholic behaviour that is symptomatic of those who hide under the umbrella of depression.

Infact anti-depressant drugs ARE a clinically chemical imbalance of the brain as you are trying to artificially induce a neurological response.

4Him,

I think you are too harsh in dismissing other people's depression. I don't think anyone wants to be depressed but some people are more predisposed to depression than others.

Yes, it is thought to have medical and genetic undertones, therefore not a state of mind people can "snap" out of anytime they want. They do need professional help as depression can progress to something more serious.

I believe, and i have no evidence to back it up, that an individual's temperament also plays a part to whether people suffer from depression or not. A melancholic and to an extent a phlegmatic is more likely to be depressed than a choleric or sanguine personality. Therefore, people are bound to react differently to the same situation. Sometimes, it is not what happens that affects us, but how we react to what happens. This may be the key difference. Some people are able to shrug off challenges, and others just sink in that same challenge. We are all not born to be competitive, but i do accept that people should learn to respond more rationally to situations, especially the ones they have no control over.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Imani(f): 9:01pm On May 01, 2008
This mentality of "buy one, get one half price" is getting tiring. We need "world class" players for our wonderful stadium.

There is no point if we keep buying players on the cheap. The amount of time to train them up to the level of winning things is getting longer.

Romeo and 4play,

You guys just like deceiving yourselves right? grin. So if you guys don't like metal, what about "plastic" or other ring types? How would you compensate the woman? You want her to just take your word for it?

What do you guys say if your prospective wives also have "problems" with metal rings, do you mind them going around ringless? If you don't, then that would be fantastic. Don't you think?
Family / Re: You Remove Your Wedding Ring in Public, Sometimes? by Imani(f): 9:46pm On Apr 25, 2008
Thank you 4Him for spoiling the other guys "runs" cheesy

What can be so difficult about wearing a simple ring? You guys wear chains, "blings", and watches all the time, yet a ring that is merely symbolic is a challenge or it seems some people are still interested in playing the field by the side.

Ok, seriously, if there are medical or work related issues not to wear a ring, that is fine. But there must be understanding between both parties.

My fellow gunners,

I heard a radio interview about Henry today in which he tried to diffuse the speculation of links to other premiership clubs such as Newcastle. In his own words, "There is only one club in for me, everyone knows i love Arsenal, i am a fan". I was like hmmm, what do you guys think of a possible Henry return? shocked I won't want him to turn to another Michael Owen.

@Akolawole,

Don't tell me you have joined the likes of Jackal et al in the regular Arsenal bashing? angry

At Arsenal transfer speculations,

If the "crown  jewel" players want to leave, i hope the board can persuade them otherwise. However, no player is indispensable of a team. Just ask David Beckam or Thierry Henry our former igwe kiss. Wenger has come out to say he won't add to the squad unless he is able to secure the future of players like Flamini, Helb and Fabregas. I do see sense in that.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Imani(f): 7:47pm On Apr 23, 2008
4Him,

I wish them good luck, as a sign of good sportmanship. Manchester United are still a british team, and in the UK, we tend to support british teams against the opposition. This is particularly tricky, as i still have a lot of respect for Henry and would like to see him achieve his dream of winning the champions league.

For Manchester United, well, may the best team win. I am just weary that people like 4play and jackal will not let arsenal fans rest should they win.
