Welcome to Texas. Lemme answer few of your questions

1. He can drive with the international license but should be very careful. Traffic rules are different here but if you drive well in Nigeria you should be good in a short while. He doesn't need an endorsement to get the original license and you should know that the international license if not a valid form of identity when applying for your Texas drivers license. But you can use it to drive for a while as long as you stay out of trouble.

2. I opened my bank of America account the 2nd day I landed here with my passport only. Later you can update with your ssn

3. Yes as pregnant woman you can apply for medicaid immediately.

4. Don't know much about this and would be glad to also learn from someone that knows

2. Do we need to av gotten our ssn before opening an account.

3. Can a pregnant woman who needs to see a doctor immediately apply for Medicaid without SSN.

Hello house. Please I need advice. I have WAEC and GCE certificates. The WAEC has high grades on all subjects except Maths as it was withheld, the GCE on the other hand has average grades but a D7 in economics. Should I send both of them for evaluation? Or only the GCE?
Please advice ASAP

adesojiaderemi@:

1) Health is good but that should not be the number one thing now except you are so sick or pregnant. Get your SSN first and your green card.
2)Yes, you have to wait for everything
3) Go for short health related courses e.g Home health care, Physical therapy, CNA.... this will give you some leverages to get settle down fast and you can continue from there.
4) $500/ month? you may soon run out of cash, how much is he paying for the apartment?
Thank you my brother for the reply. I have been having serious cramps since my arrival and it has refused to yeild to common pain reliever, instead is getting intense, that's why i wanted to get an idea of what getting a health insurance here is all about.

Hello my people. Although I have never been given any response on my earlier post when I needed urgent advice, I can't deny the fact that I have benefited from different posts on this thread. So I believe you will grant me this permission to share my interview experience.

I got to the Embassy by 6:30 and joined the cue for 7:30 appointment.
After all the hassles I was in the interview Hall waiting for my turn. I saw people leaving with smiles on their faces. Then some purported couples were denied in an embarrassing manner. That was when sleep of fear caught me.
I woke up to the call of my tally number and leaped to the Window. I saw a black lady and I thought I was only called to verify my documents. Little did I know that was the CO sent from heaven.

CO: Good morning
ME: Morning
CO: Sign this document
ME: Ok. Then fingerprint
CO: Swear to tell the truth
ME: yeah
CO: So what do you do
ME: Just finished NYSC so am just into some hustling
CO: Ok. Where did you serve
ME: ......
CO: what did you do
ME: ......
CO: Cool. Why did you choose your undergraduate discipline
ME: because its a nice course
CO: *smiles* really?
ME: *smiles* yeah I can work as. ..........
CO: Cool.
ME: Thanks
CO: Have you ever played this lottery before
ME: Nope. My first time
CO: Wow! And you are so lucky. Congratulations. Your visa has been approved
ME: Just like dat?
CO: *laughing* exactly. You will get your visa at this address. ......
ME: Thanks and have a lovely day.

Na so I waka o. It didn't even take up to 3 mins. I left without any visible expression on my face but I couldn't control it and I started singing "YAWEH YAWEH! YOU are glorious so glorious in your way"
I spread some love to some people I met outside that congratulated me and walked under the rain singing with my heart filled with joy.

This is nothing but the Lords doing.
I succeeded in playing this lottery at 10:56, only 4 mins remaining on the last day. I forgot about it until March 2013 when I was looking for a draft email then I saw my confirmation page which I saved there. I checked and found out I was selected.
It took me till April 11th before I could send my forms to kcc. I even had to print out the forms and fill them with biro as I couldn't fill them electronically. I was discouraged that is too late by a someone that when via dis same opportunity but I persisted.
Exactly one month I was given an interview letter for 5th July. By the ending of June I wasn't prepared at all then miraculously I got a call from a lady that my dv lottery interview date has been rescheduled for the 29th of July. *NobeGod*

Pardon my long sermon. I just had to testify that there's a God that answers even the prayers of a sinner like me. That same God will grant you success in your endeavours in Jesus name. Amen.

Looking forward to life in another mans land and all I can say is GOD'S WILL MUST BE DONE

Hello my people in the house. I recently collected my visa and travel documents and I intend to travel to Atlanta by month end. Please I need some counselling from my experienced people in the house.
1. The final destination address on the cover page of my travel envelop has my name on it instead of the name of the occupant of the residence as I filled in my forms. Is this an issue?
2. What is the fairest route and airline I can take to Atlanta.
3. Which option is better. Agent or self booking online?
4. Anything I should acquire here in Nigeria before travelling? Like documents, skills or...
5. What is the fate of a Bsc holder in Human Anatomy
6. Anybody in the house staying in Atlanta that a brother can relate with? Pls let's hook up
7. How much is a one bedroom apartment over there
8. Is it true that a simple haircut can cost up to 30 dollars? Are you kidding me!
9. ............Anything I shud know please

mike udoka: Good morning house. Pls I have this issue that has been bugging me lately. My interview was earlier scheduled for the 5th of July but I got a call from a lady claiming to be from the Embassy that it has been rescheduled for the 29th of July. Now my concern is
1. I haven't received any confirmation to this effect. I even mailed them on the 1st but they haven't replied yet
2. I recently learnt from this forum that there is a confirmatory email that a selectee must come with for the rescheduled interview to be allowed ENTRANCE into the Embassy.
Please can someone clarify this issues for me cos the only 2nl I have is the one with 5th July as interview date. THANK YOU
Please has anyone in this house face this issue before? I will appreciate your ideas please
