Car Talk / Re: New Tactics Of Robbers At Okada/ehkiadolor Road by mikijagga(m): 4:38pm On Sep 09, 2013 |
Hmm.. had a similar experience in October 2011. Was driving my family back from Lagos to PH with our Chevrolet Venture which was fine until we got close to benin, around the Okada area. I noticed a guy pointing at my car bonnet and flagging me to stop. It worried me, but I dismissed him because I did not feel anything wrong with the car. I thought, I should at least hear some sound or feel some tell tale signs from my steering wheels. Just as I was considering all these in my head, in less than 1 Km, another guy on a bike driving one-way along my lane of the express way did same thing and flagged me to stop. This time I got worried, because, I felt if the first guy was pranking me, then how about the second one?? So i looked for the nearest mecahnic shop to stop. The guy at the shop just appeared in a flash and I noticed oil and smoke on my tires. I wondered what could be wrong. I looked back if I could see the guys who flagged me, but they simple had disappeared. In my calculation, I should still be able to see the guys at least from the disatance. Well, i asked the mecahnic what could be wrong, and he asked me to drive into their raphia palm leaves shop. They did some check and said I should bring N18k to get the parts and fix it. This was like 4pm. I was not just convinced, so I asked my wife to drive the car out of the shop and then back and forth while I check to see what the guys who flagged us saw. I did not see anything wrong, my wife also was convinced that she did not feel anything unusual while moving the car. At this point the guys said they can reduce the N18k if money was the problem. I told them not to bother at all, that I will sort myself out in Benin. That was how God saved me. But something happened. We had the A/C on all along, but as soon as I wound down the window(power controlled) of the passenger side where my wife was seated, lo and behold, it refused to go up again after we drove from rickety raphia palm leaves shop. I thank God all the same for helping us through that ordeal with my wife and kids in the car. |

Nigerians are watching all these with relish. It brings me to the following predictions; a.) These so-called powers that be will be upturned. There will be many more politicians with questionable intrests will be exposed. These exposures will ruin their political career, and will not be fit to contest for future elections b.) Gov. Fashola of Lagos will be fielded as mega party candidate. They will wait till last minute before he is unveiled. This is contravene the initial Notherner they had in plan. More to come!!! |

ziccoit: @ Ziccot, I beg to differ on your views on the rising potency of the leadership of the governor's forum. If its not checked, will run parallel to the presidency. Any over ambitiuos governor will seize it by force as is been observed right now. The idea of governor's forum will work well in an advanced democracy, but here in naija, hmmm.. if they give u allow, u will look for allowance. Secondly, governors believe that after their 8 years tenure in office, the next level is the presidency. Recall that the NGF has produced the last 2 presidents and vice presidents. Its also an unhealthy trend that must be broken. I believe we can get better presidents if we spread our search wider than narrow it on 36 governors |

talktimi: if you really know who Amaechi is, you will be careful with your praise for him. He is a loose canon that can go off anytime he chooses, the fact that he has some problems within the PDP doesn't mean he won't cause any problems within any other party he goes to if he so chooses. I am telling you from close contacts and interractions. Amaechi fought to get into Rivers govt house but with the able support of Nyesom Wike who was his back bone and who is his achilles heel. His stron will might end up being his downfall o because he's fond of throwing stones while in his glass house. Gbawe strongly spoke in support of Amaechi as though he really saw an angel. Is it not the Amaechi we know in Rivers State? Hmm...You have never seen arrogance!! The idea of using the governor's forum for opposition to the FG is an aberration. That is not what the body was constituted for. 3 Likes |

A quick warning to the haters is that a dog that wants to stray is the one that will not heed to the call of its owner. If you believe the Rock Foundation Center is for the benefit of humanity, good (after all its not the house pastor will stay), or if you take the project for what it is worth and be beneficiary to the good work, so be it. Its your choice. Your hating will only destroy you, and I dare say a generation. What have you done to make your world a better place? 1 Like |

Zoe, From your words, the guy is good. You probably see some great qualities about him which you have not informed us. Unfortunately, you may not be able to get a balanced opinion from people becuase you painted an insecured character. What are the "good" qualities you admire about him?? If your post had answered that question, we would have know his strenghts/weaknesses. That said, personality and tempraments styles vary from people to people. Insecurity may be a result of an incident in the past which he needs to deal with. usually one may not be aware about this, that may continue to torment his self esteem. Another very likely siyuation is how you address him. Do you call him names(foolish, stupid, mumu etc)?? whatever you call a "man" who's ego/self esteem is not very healthy is what he will become. Like someone earlier maentioned, if you really like his "good" sides, then, try working on the insecurity, in words matched with actions. Call him a king, and that is what he will become. 1 Like |

Family / Re: Why Do Parents Send Their Kids To Boarding Schools? by mikijagga(m): 2:48pm On Jan 19, 2013 |
In an ideal situation, a boarding house holds ffg advantages amongst others; - promote independence which could bring out child's potentials - give a real world scenario/ community setting to a child early-on - help parents monitor progress in an objective manner. Nonetheless, all above will be defeated if there no proper monitoring by the institution you handed your child to |
Crime / Re: Your Experience With Area Boys by mikijagga(m): 3:45pm On Jan 17, 2013 |
Was on our student union week in Lagos, when students go "ragging". Right in the middle of balogun market, i noticed my rag tin was now full. So I went into a corner to offload the money in the tin. As soon as I opened the tin, a fiery looking guy with plenty fight marks on his face walked up to me and with a croaking voice said i should hand him all the money. I sized him up and thought within myself that i can take the guy. I also croaked my voice back and told him, ol boy all of us na area boyz o, if u try any kpakan, gbege go happen for your head", I continued cautiosly with what i was doing. He looked at me and considered for a moment what next to do. By some miracle, he just smiled and begged me for cigar money..which of course i gave him. Make he no use him disco spoil my reggae 5 Likes |
Health / Re: Stopped Smoking? How Did You Manage It? by mikijagga(m): 2:39pm On Jan 17, 2013 |
Started smoking in 1994 and stopped in 1999 just before my NYSC callup. When we got to camp, I got entangled with this sweet looking babe, and one night at Mami market, we ordered drinks, and she pulled out a packet of BH. Before I knew what was happening, I started again and this time, I increased number of sticks from about 10 to 1 pckt. I tried severally afterwards until my birthday morning in 2002. I remember praying that morning for God to help me, and I took the 4 stick remaining in the Rothmans packet and shred it to pieces. From then till now I am grateful to God for that deliverance. For the hopefuls, the question you ask yourself is " what honestly do i derive from this stick that i light fire on and inhale the Carbon Mono oxide contained in the smoke?" So many people smoke because of the friends they keep and then to fulfil a seeming social staus. So many others also give reasons like depression. You just need to be honest with yourself and tell yourself you can do it. Wish you luck. 2 Likes |

For so many, and i mean a chunk of the percentage of people who read these kind of mighty works of God, natural tendency is to raise objections in disbelief. Honestly, your opinion does not count. I have experienced similar mighty works of God too, if I mention it, people will disagree, disbelieve and mock it. But believe or not, it happens. 1 Like |

I understand the fact that anyone will spot a foul in the progress of another, except for a mind that is matured and know that God has given us opportunity to be/have anything that we desire. If children of God don't enjoy God's creations, then who will?? I agree that our pastors needs to do more, as we have seen in the Holy Bible where men of God has led revolutions. But what we should indeed realize is that every man of God has his calling. You cannot successfully execute anything God has not sent you. We must not fail to realize that hurling insults on men of God is dangerous, we must endeavor to tread with caution. Know that it is only God that can give or take away, it is also scriptural that give and it shall be given back to you. Most of us do not know what these pastors have done in secret that God is rewarding in the open. Bless God for the progress of your neighbor, and wait for your own time. 1 Like |

I can tell you that this guy is just working hard to be confirmed as IGP. For instance, there was still police men at a checkpoint on my way this morning. They just talk tough to get the job and then settle down for the cash on confirmation. We are used to that line, Recall that several people from Jos, vehemently stated their reservations on his appointment, which is unconnected with his polarised position on the religious clash about a decade ago. Religion / Re: Pressure On Offerings And Thanksgiving Offerings. by mikijagga(m): 10:53pm On Jan 08, 2011 |
Kenny888, your opinion about giving is seriously flawed, i.e. judging from a biblical point of view. You can only serve God in truth and faith. Gos is not looking for your money. If you decide not to give, God will raise up stones. Either or not you give, the body of Christ will still grow. Remember, if you do this to the least of my brothers, you do it to me. If you give to the house of God, you give to God, and God blesses you in return. On the flip side, you also have not quoted what your preacher/pastor said. Whatsoever he may/may not have said, the amount you give is not important, its the cheerfulness in your giving. If you give your last penny and expect in faith, you will definitely get the reward back. god told Abraham to sacrifice his only son he waited over a hundred years old to get. You know the story, and of course you saw the results. Please, learn to follow the word of God accordingly. |

Really funny anyone will believe whats on that poll. To say the least, it is ridiculous. Atiku does not have that kind of followership. He is just a schemer. I dont believe the guy, even when he is saying the truth, He is TOO desperate!! Haba?? GEJ may not be that smart thief, but he also not a fool. I understood he settled for a 4 year term?? If so, let him have it. Atiku, can still wait. Hopefully, his turn may come. As far as the electorate is concerened, everyone has his own right to decide. It important that reason preceeds individual intrest. We shouldn't continue like this. GEJ has given a glimmer of hope in the Nigerian project. Amidst the bad, he is better. |
