Otunbalarry: This thread is created to mainly celebrate our home-town, let's drop the name of our village, and those moments you remember about your village,or have you not even been to your village before, this is an opportunity to meet someone who is from your village.

Do you also know your oriki? Hmmmmmmm. I am from osun state, from Apomu to be precise, from Agbole ooosa. The village that God has blessed with abundant agricultural resources, the village that chicken meat is so cheap that it is used as toothbrush, the village that has its history and name written in Gold, don't let me brag too much about my village.

WHICH VILLAGE ARE YOU FROM?
Well I am from Ikole Ekiti, and I am sure that is not a village but a town so I am not sure everybody is from a village..

Politics / Re: Jonathan Commissions N235.5b Steel Factory by muyiwah666(m): 1:06pm On Oct 18, 2013
obitwo: President Goodluck Jonathan has stated that no nation can industrialise without a vibrant iron and steel sector.

He also assured that his government was determined to provide the necessary incentives and support for the growth of the private sector.

He said this on Thursday while commissioning the N235.5 billion WEMPCO Steel Mill Company Limited’s state–of-the-art 5-Stand tandem cold rolled steel plant in Ibafo, Ogun State.

He noted that the steel sector is the heart of any economic development endeavour and that the commissioning marks yet another milestone in the determination of his government to reposition the  steel  sector to play a  pivotal role in the nation’s march towards industrialisation.

He congratulated WEMPCO Group “for this high and productive investment.”

“By constructing this 700,000 metric tonnes per annum cold rolled steel mill here in Ibafon, Ogun State, to compliment your existing investments in the country, WEMPCO has demonstrated strong belief and confidence in our economy,” the President stated.

He added that steel is one of the most important materials used widely for both domestic and industrial purposes throughout the world and that a vibrant steel sector contributes to GDP growth, facilitates exploitation of natural resources and generates economic activities in downstream industries.

The President, who said he was aware of the challenges being faced by investors in the country, added that “government is committed to improving our investment climate by providing and upgrading necessary infrastructure such as power, roads and rail.

“Our aim is to keep attracting foreign and local direct investment into key sectors of the economy that will create jobs, stimulate private sector growth, continuous technology transfer, and ultimately economic growth and wealth for Nigerians and Nigeria.”

Managing Director of the company, Lewis Tung, in his address, requested that the company be given the opportunity to take over two of Nigeria’s moribund steel companies, Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mills and Delta Steel.

Responding, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Musa Mohammed Sada, said the Federal Government will be glad to grant the company the request if it is in its power, but noted that there are issues that will not make that possible for now.

“We have the encumbrance of having a legal issue attached to Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mills and we are trying to sort it out. We will be glad to receive the proposal from them.”

Minister of Industries, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, said “industries like this will drive the growth and development of this country” emphasising that the country needs to move from the current status of selling mineral resources and products to that of an industrialised nation.

Religion / Re: Pope Francis Has Changed My View Of Homosexuals by muyiwah666(m): 7:29am On Aug 01, 2013
alpha conde: I can't imagine that an age long feeling could be changed in a matter of minutes, as soon as I heard the words from the pope "who am I to judge gay people" my spirit was humbled. I felt this weakness in me. I discover that I equalled with them (homosexuals) in other forms of sin we commit.

Recently I was made to know that anyone who depends on his strenght to attain salvation may probably lose it, hence we must depend on God s love and grace.

Now here's is a real life comparism.
I have this friend who's gay, he left for UK and since then has expressed joy in an enviroment that supports his acts. He even looks forward to marrying a man, anytime we chat and he talks about it am always disgusted.

When he was in nigeria we used to be business patners so we were very close, now that he is away we talk often about out lives and challenges.
The other day he called to inform me that he has gotten a very good job, with a world cLass bank, and I asked myself why he would bless a gay with such a miracle? And me who isn't gay is down here expecting a breakthrough, it was then I discovered God hasn't even rejected them. Why should we?

Now that the pope has said this, I recall that judgement should be left for God.
Though I personally abhor this act but then I have come to understand that this is the same reason christ died.

Lastly I encourage all to keep praying for them and rescue them from the devil.

Alpha conde.

yeah..homosexuality is not strange to us...infact ,what i feel for them mostly is pity, because really it is only by the grace of the Almighty Father that one can overcome physiological conditons like this.....BUT..MAKING IT A NORM IS WHAT AFRICA AND AFRICANS ARE AGAINST..

miqos02: Halfway into the tenure of the Senate, 34 senators have not sponsored any bill since coming to office, according to official records released by the Senate.

The Senate's Mid-Term Assessment Report shows that of the total 109 senators, 74 have sponsored at least a bill during the period starting June 2011 while the rest initiated none. Senate President David Mark sponsored no bill but, by convention, he is not expected to table any bill in his capacity as presiding officer of the Senate.

A Daily Trust analysis of the assessment report issued last month reveals that senators who did not sponsor any bill constitute about one-third of the upper chamber.

This is coming amidst public debate on the emoluments of Nigerian federal lawmakers, who a recent report by the Economist ranked top in a global chart of Economist ranked top in a global chart of legislators' salaries.

Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) records in possession of Daily Trust show that each senator is entitled to N35 million in yearly salaries and allowances.

Based on this alone, the 34 senators would have collectively received more than N1 billion in wages, apart from other hefty allowances received in quarterly instalments.

No bills

Senators who did not sponsor any bill in the two years under review, according to the assessment report, include Jibrilla Mohammed Bindowo (PDP, Adamawa), Chris Ngige (ACN, Anambra), Babayo Garba Gamawa (PDP, Bauchi), George Akume (ACN, Benue), Maina Ma'aji Lawan (ANPP, Borno), Mohammed Ali Ndume (PDP, Borno), Ahmad Zannah (PDP, Borno), Nwanko Christopher (PDP, Delta), Oguji Sunny (PDP, Ebonyi) and Babafemi Ojudu (ACN, Ekiti).

Religion / Re: Dr Olukoya Of MFM Gives N40m To First Class Graduates by muyiwah666(m): 7:43pm On Apr 12, 2013
abbk000: In his usual style of rewarding academic excellence, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has splashed N40 million on members of the church who graduated with first class honors degree from different universities across the country.

The event which is third in the series made the 77 graduates smile home with N 500,000 each.
The previous first class graduates went home with a car each, but this year the number rose from 15 to 77 so Dr. Olukoya settled for cash, which they could use to further their education or start something.

The breakdown of the graduates showed that University of Lagos (UNILAG) top the list with 12 graduates which cut across various disciplines, followed by University of Ibadan with nine of such graduates while one is from Central University College, Accra, Ghana.

Speaking at the occasion, Pastor Shade Olukoya, who presented the award praised the graduates for dedication to their academic work and serving God at the same time.

According to her, the award was put in place to reward members of MFM who are dedicated to their academic work while also creating time to serve the Almighty God.
