Nairaland / General / Happy International Happiness Day! by Oluwatosinworld: 2:38pm On Mar 20, 2023
It's important to understand seasons and times. I use to worry a lot but God has helped me to cast my cares on him

There will always be a season of plenty and a season of a little. You should be able to enjoy each season without anyone guessing what season you are in.

You can't be happy only when you have money and be angry with everyone anytime you are broke. It's a terrible state of life. Your worth or value is not defined by material possessions.

The day I am broke, I carry Garri that ”is kan”, you know the type that can almost blind the eyes and get Suya with plenty pepper. Drink it and go sleep rejoicing.

I even discovered today that you can get Grilled Chicken neck and eat. Just chicken neck in a whole stick😜 at aboki's place.

Buy and eat if it is the day you can't afford to buy Chicken laps.

Like someone use to say, your worth is not just the liquid cash you have in the bank. It's in the things you have, it's in that brand you are building, it's in that car you saved for and many other things we don't pay attention to.

Come on, walk around the house you rented and look at the receipt.

Tell yourself

”Na me pay for this rent o”

Oya go to your kitchen, look at your gas burner/stove, your plastic bowls of grains😂😂😂, see your blender, your fridge, your toaster.

Now go to your bedroom, Omo you try.
You buy a bed, come get a wardrobe, still get a fan/A.c.

Now look at your phone, this phone wey you dey use read this post.

You buy am, still buy a charger and earpiece with data inside.

My guy, you have tried.

Do not let the days of having little liquid cash make you down.

You need a clear mind and a joyful heart to get inspiration on what to do in days of lack.

Inspiration will not come into a gloomy heart so you will stay stuck in that state if you are not careful.

Shake off sadness and be happy ✌️✌️
Live, love and laugh while you still have the breathe of life. #oluwatosinworld cares❤️🤗
Nairaland / General / A Year Ago! by Oluwatosinworld: 6:04am On Mar 18, 2023
She got a message from him. It was precise.

“It’s over. I’m done.”

She froze. This can’t be true. He can’t be done with her.
Yes, they’ve had issues recently but these issues seemed to be sorted out.
He had complained about the fact that she does not spare enough time for him because of her job.
She had retaliated by stating that he is doing his PhD far away in Benin and if anyone should complain, it should be she.
They argued about it before he stormed back to Benin.

Now, she was about to call him and tell him she turned down a salary raise of Five Hundred Thousand Naira and resigned from her job, only for him to send her a text saying it is over.

.
She called him but he wasn’t picking up. She sent texts to him but they didn’t deliver.
She penned a suicide note and gulped Sniper.
.
Her body was found and the note read.
Her family and friends were thrown into sorrow.

Her closest friend called him crying, “You are a heartless, man! After the sacrifice of leaving her job for you, you still dumped her. Now she is dead, I hope you are happy?”

He opened his mouth in shock.

When he said “it is over, I’m done”, he meant he has completed his dissertation.
His battery had died after he sent her a text.
Politics / Iku To Pa Aladie Ko Gbodo Pa Elewure'' by Oluwatosinworld: 9:43am On Mar 05, 2023
YORUBA ADAGE SAYS
''IKU TO PA ALADIE KO GBODO PA ELEWURE''
[what kills the fowl owner should not kill the goat owner.]

> Aladie's wife was keeping a secrete affair with Elewure, a friend of Aladie.
> she was so desperate that she arranged with Elewure and his gangs to kill her husband Aladie.
> she leaked her husband's secrete to them that they should come in the middle of night and disturb the fowls, by so doing Aladie will come out and they can kill him easily.
> Elewure and his gangs came as planned. they disturb the fowls, Aladie came out to see what was happening to his fowls, eventually he was murdered
> Later Aladie's wife got married to Elewure.
> Unknown to Elewure that his wife was having a secrete affair with Onimalu [owner of cow]
.> Elewure's wife again planned with Onimalu to kiil Elewure so that she can get married to Onimalu.
> She arranged as usual with Onimalu to come to Elewure's house in the middle of the night and disturb the goats, so that they can kill him when he comes out.
> they came in the middle of night as planned, they disturbed the goats, the Elewure pretended as if nothing is happening. They disturbed the goats for several hours. Elewure refused to come out.
> The wife call Elewure's attention to those out side , but she was turned down.
> Elewures' wife pretended going out to check the goats but in her mind she wanted to go and inform the Onimalu and his gangs to come inside to attack her husband since he refused to come out.
> As she stepped out, she was shot by the gangs believing it was Elewure
> as she was crying for help then Eleure told her IKU TO PA ALADIE KO GBODO PA ELEWURE''
[what kills the owner of fowl should not kill the owner of goat]

Meaning
> Aladie [fowl's owner] = Jonathan
> Elewure [goat's owner] = Buhari
> Onimalu [cow's owner] = Atiku
> Wife = SARAKI

Saraki led the PDP big wigs [atiku, dogara, Obj, Tambuwal & others] out of the party in 2015 to kill Jonathan's government for Buhari APC.
In 2019 he came with the same set of people, planning to kill Buhari's government for Atiku, rather, his Senate presidency ambition was killed.

Nairaland / General / Oluwatosinworld Reminiscence And Pep Talk... by Oluwatosinworld: 10:48am On Jan 21, 2023
Guys, you're too broke to be worried about a relationship. Seriously.

Learn a skill. Go to Youtube. Binge-watch videos. About coding. About bead making. About photography. Video making. About graphics designing. Watch something other than girls twerking on TikTok.

It gets on my nerve seeing young boys slaving over girls that, even though they lack zero skill, their backup plan is to become someone's wife. Yes. Woke culture is yet to seep into the life outside social media.

Women. Money or not. Will still have a more comfortable life, than a man who has absolutely nothing to offer.

This system was not designed in your favour. So you have to work.

Research. Learn. Focus on yourself. Improve your character. Catch cruise. Create valuable friendships. Have self control. And seek jobs.

Learn new skills and improve your self,

Work smart and Pray

Relationship, nyansh and breast, e nor dey finish.

Nairaland / General / Gratitude.... by Oluwatosinworld: 9:03am On Dec 30, 2022
Yet again,We are in the festive season of Christmas and New year, that time of the year when everything is done in excess, only that this time around, the pulse of the Nation is very low,so much so that at a quick glance, you can mistake the month of December for any other month, usually the first two months after December is when people are recovering from the excessive spending of the last Christmas, business is not as buoyant and people are trying to gather themselves together to prepare for the year ahead. But in this case, people are trying to survive the Christmas and New year season talk less of the months that come after.Yes a few buildings are littered with lights and what have you and that seems to be the only brightness in the horizon of the populace, not only the selected 1% who can still maintain some semblance of a lavish lifestyle regardless the state of the economy, for them, instead of flying abroad every month for one thing or the other, they now only go quarterly.Instead of flying first class, they now travel business class. These are not the ones in referring to when I talk about how the biting times of today stings,I'm referring to the average Nigerian who could once buy a goat for Christmas, but can not even afford a chicken now.The ones who could buy a fresh new clothes for his family but cannot even afford a second hand clothes now,the ones who could buy a bag of rice, can barely afford to buy  quarter of that now.The list is endless. Hope destroyed and replaced with despair. A season once awaited with abated breath now seems like a nightmare you can't wait to wake up from. This is sad. This is heart wrenching to people who once saw Christmas as a season to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
But all hope can not be lost,Dreams can not be vanquished. As long as there is life, there is a lot to be thankful for, thankful that we live to witness another glorious day, thankful that we have loved ones to share it with, thankful that God has blessed us with life, because life in itself is a precious thing to have.So regardless of what the Nation has burdened us with, regardless of how tightly our pockets are being squeezed, regardless of how bleak things have become, the land is still GREEN. We live to see another day by His GRACE. So Folks, Friends and Fans, celebrate the season with Love and Peace. Reach out to those you care about, mark this day,and most of all, thank God for being alive to celebrate this festive period. You might not be where you want to be,but you're alive to get to where you want to be......at some point in the future, you will get there........if you believe!
I love you all!

Make it a point of duty to laugh and play.

Maturity is not the reason why you don't laugh and play. It is because you take things too seriously and don't understand maturity.

Learn to laugh and play always. It is good to have a merry heart through play and laughter.

No be maturity no make you dey play. Na the kain upbringing some people get.

Playing and laughing no be for small pikin alone.Infact if you're an adult and you play like a kid,I'm crushing on you!
Nairaland / General / Lifestyle... by Oluwatosinworld: 2:38am On Dec 27, 2022
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. How?

Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.

Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us each together.

Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also where you are going.

Don’t forget that a person’s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don’t use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.
Nairaland / General / Disciplined Spirit... by Oluwatosinworld: 6:41am On Dec 24, 2022
Discipline is the most underrated and undervalued virtue.

The lack of disicpline in its diverse form is the reason many never make progress nor succeed.

There is too much emphasis and obsession with talent. Talent is cheap. As a matter of fact, everyone is talented. Discipline is what is expensive and scarce.

Calvin Coolidge put it more aptly. There is nothing more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Without discipline, you cannot exercise self control...you cannot rein in your emotions....you cannot be persistent....you cannot be diligent. No matter how exciting the idea or initiative is, you will eventually get tired and feel bored about it. That's where discipline powers commitment to get you going.

So many people quit things because they no longer feel excitement or good about it and I am like..."are you for real?". Just because you "felt". Do you know the number of feelings people go through on a daily basis?

Some of the most frustrated people I know are smart in thinking and action but inadequately equipped with a discplined spirit hence unable to exercise the required discipline in applying their smartness until the point it rewards them.

Talent and intellectuality have been over sensationalized and elevated to an invaluable pedestal that discipline, which is more valuable, has been underrated.

Talent and brilliance make people feel entitled as well. You go about with the mindset of "I deserve this", "I deserve that" even without making any efforts.
Nairaland / General / Young And Getting It..... by Oluwatosinworld: 3:07pm On Dec 23, 2022
The reason so many young people feel hopeless about the future is because they want to achieve overnight, the peak of those who have subjected themselves to process over years. Something that is impossible. However, if they are willing to go at it line over line, step over step, they will get there.

It is the process that moulds you, not your intellect.
Nairaland / General / Money, Time And Value.... by Oluwatosinworld: 11:00am On Aug 25, 2022
Money is not THE measure of success, it is measure of material value.

Successes come in numerous forms.

A teacher is successful by effectively imparting knowledge and good values.

A parent is successful by raising children of sound mind and values who grow into responsible adults.

A cleric is successful by imparting adherents with ideals and values that transforms them into well behaved and morally upright people and citizens.

An entrepreneur is successful by legitimately selling products and services that people are willing to pay for and when obligations such as taxes are remitted. One does not need enormous amount of money to be successful.

Do you even know it is the small and medium sized businesses that power and sustain economies and not the likes of Apple, Google, Amazon et al. If you add all the number of their employees, revenues and assets, you will realize that they are just a small fraction of the GDP and economy. It is the thousands of SMEs that sustain and create the most jobs.

A counselor is successful when the counsel given solves a problem if applied. That is success.

The list is endless.

Tricycle is #100 from from Oregun to Ikeja, though I board it #150 sometimes due to rush hour traffic in the evening , I was trying to enter one this evening and the rider said #150,I dropped and immediately hopped into another oncoming one that is #100, and I was busy looking out for the first one that left me, that I wanted to enter initially, I was so curious to see it,while I was thinking, the one I boarded zoomed passed the first one at Opebi and got to Ikeja first. I was so happy and satisfied‍♂️the funniest and weirdest part‍♂️, I was trying to let the rider and person that boarded see me that the Keke I took got to Ikeja first before theirs why?

Nairaland / General / Life Is Beautiful, times Are Hard, Things Are Tough..... Be True To Yourself! by Oluwatosinworld: 11:20am On Aug 14, 2022
There are people who stopped being 100% honest because someone made them look like fools for being transparent.

There are people who stopped being good and loyal to friends because someone special disappointed them in their darkest hour.

There are people who stopped being faithful to one lover because someone broke their hearts and did so savagely.

There are people who stopped being generous or big-hearted because someone paid them back with evil.

There are people who stopped trusting anyone because someone betrayed them with a kiss. Etc.

We can all relate to these experiences.

The moment you allow people change you for the worse, they win, you lose.

The best trophy you can give to those who treated you badly and unfairly; those who took your virtue for granted is to become like them. The moment you say 'I've had enough being the good, considerate and kindhearted person. I'm done with being honest and generous', you have simply handed them the trophy. They won!

You cannot judge humanity, a population of almost 8 Billion People by the foolishness of one person, even two.

You cannot deprive humanity of your kindness or honesty or virtue because someone decided to be a jerk. Billions of people around the world still hope for someone like you. Don't lose YOU!

Bitterness eats up its container. Vengeance consumes its host. Unforgiveness destroys its carrier.
No one is worth losing your 'treasure' over.

Whoever treats you badly and coldly for being true to you and real doesn't deserve you. He or she is weak. Becoming like them is a compliment to them. Don't give them the satisfaction.

Someday, if you don't falter; if you remain consistent, you will be validated, justified and compensated right before the eyes of those you almost became. Those who thought they won.

Don't lose you. Humanity's fate hangs on it.

Nairaland / General / Competition Versus Comparison....... by Oluwatosinworld: 7:46pm On Jul 07, 2022
Most people belief that competition is healthy, as it helps them stay on their toes and constantly improve on what they are doing. As true as that may sound, I found out recently that competition is a dark art that actually makes us lose even when we think we are winning.

Competition is a stiff race that steals our sleep, our attention, and money in many cases.

Look at Coca-Cola and Pepsi for example. Whatever Pepsi does to attract more customers, Coca-Cola will also want to do in order to stay competitive, even if it's not convenient. It's the same with Nike and Adidas.

Another example is Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. Or Wizkid and Davido, I love them both though, thrilling as it is for neutrals, this competition is unhealthy in quite a number of ways. One's success is often used to sadden the other. This is why they are constantly trying to outdo each other every year, even at the detriment of their team mates, folks, fan's, family,or country at times.

Social Media nko? Competition is the reason you are never satisfied with what you have and would always envy the other person, looking for ways to outdo them, even if you are not ripe for that kind of rise. This robs you of the right kind of attention you should pay to yourself for steady growth, and makes you over reach for something that might distort your entire growth journey.

Beware!

Instead of that competition mentality, why not try a monopoly mentality? Blue Ocean instead of Red.

The greatest and wealthiest people in this age are not those who did or have been doing what everyone else is doing. They are people who innovated, or took an existing process and made it ten times better.

Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Jack Ma, Trevor Noah, name them!

The next set of millionaires are not people who will build another Facebook, or create another Google, or start another PayPal...NO!

They are people who will create something totally new, out of what is existing.

So instead of starting that business and doing it just the way your friends or every other person is doing it, why not think of something totally innovative or find a better way to do yours?

Instead of following the traditional way of climbing the ladder, why not spare a thought to create a new way to fly?

Innovation doesn't hurt. It only requires a careful approach, clear thought process and most of all, the strong mental will. Sadly, not many of us are willing to give all three.

But if we do, innovation is the future legacy we will be giving our children's children. The wealth is unquantifiable.

And guess what? There are still a gazillion of ideas yet to be explored. So, start thinking!

Nairaland / General / E Maa Wo Ori Omo Yen O.... "Watch That Child's Head" by Oluwatosinworld: 8:08am On Jul 05, 2022
The translation of the title up there goes thus: “Watch that child’s head”.

If you have ever boarded a public bus, especially a danfo, you must have heard commuters show so much concern when a woman with a baby strapped to her back is attempting to enter into the bus.

There are usually kind remarks such as:

“E maa wo ori omo yen o”.

“Abeg madam, dey look your pikin head o”

“Aunty, please bend down well, don’t let this child hit his/her head”.

I have experienced this so many times, that sometimes it makes me think all is well with the world.

But the sad fact is that among those concerned voices all pleading for the safety of that child are people who would molest or even kill children for rituals when no one is watching.

Among these seemingly good people are those who would starve, maltreat and batter their domestic helps. Among these outwardly compassionate individuals, we can find bullies, abusers, and sociopaths…in homes, the workplace, schools, etc.

Now, with the recent news on rape and violence, everyone is talking and making orisirisi posts condemning these evil acts.

Just like passengers in a danfo, we are all shouting “e ma wo ori omo yen o”.

The events of these past few days should make us sober and observe not just others, but ourselves too. If the things we do in our closets were exposed for all to see, would we have a justification?

When we point a finger, our other fingers are pointing at us. What are these fingers saying?

Let empathy rule in all we do, whether we are seen or not.

Have a beautiful week ahead, folks.

Nairaland / General / Depression Is Real (the Ministry Of Men).... by Oluwatosinworld: 9:19pm On Jul 03, 2022
In the year 2018,I was so depressed for 3 consecutive months, and then suicidal thoughts start settling in my mind. My pillow was always filled with tears every night and my mind was blocked away from everything I should be proud and grateful for. That thought of ending it always crept in my mind and brain back then, couldn't think of anything else.
It's amazing how friends, folks and colleagues never observed because I kept on appearances, but God in his infinite mercies kept me.
Mr Okere George and madam Bintu Okougbo(both colleagues) got to know because they observed I'm always lost in thought. They both kept talking me out of it without other people's knowledge.
They would call me and send me uplifting messages when I am not at work back then.
Two books helped me out(The last outcast by Chris Okotie and Unmerited favour by Joseph Prince) as I read the books, my mind seived off the thoughts of committing suicide and I recounted why I shouldn't go ahead with it.
Hillsong music was very helpful and soul lifting, and is still my go to inspirational and worship songs when I needed to purge and purify my heart, and also cast down imaginations and thoughts, that must bow to the will of God.
(2 Corinthians 10:5)
I can never forget this two people God used for me back then, when madam Bintu had issues with her pension fund when she was sacked in Lti in 2019, because she lost her pension ID, I made sure I went to the company business center, to help her search for it on the computer and print it out and gave it to her, even though we have our differences and she has been bad to some people in the past and no one was willing to assist her, while Mr George is in Australia since 2019 and still checks up on me via test and on Facebook messenger sometimes.
My conclusion is that while Social media keeps growing every day, yet in the midst of this, people are so lonely and depressed. Have one or two people in your corner you can talk to about "anything and everything" that will not judge or gossip about you. Also be sober and vigilant. Be prayerful as well. Take a break from social media sometimes #oluwatosinworld

Politics / Shyness Versus Healthy Self Esteem.... by Oluwatosinworld: 9:01pm On Jul 03, 2022
Sometimes ago, one of my colleagues was to create content on ad campaign on YouTube for a shy person, that doesn't have a healthy self esteem, and while she was contemplating on who to use, I volunteered and jokingly said she could use my personal, I was surprised at the way all of them laughed and exclaimed from their work station, they said "ehn you that doesn't take shit from anyone"
I've always thought myself to be a shy person, but my colleague's comments that day ehnI am weakThey said my self esteem is raise to power 100 and I don't take nonsense, what that I thought I am shy, gentle easygoing ‍♂️
