An official of the Katsina State Emergency Management Agency, Shamsu Yakubu, revealed on Saturday that terrorists killed 12 persons and abducted 38 others during the last Tuesday’s attack on Guga town in the Bakori Local Government Area of the state. He also revealed that the terrorists burnt no fewer than 35 shops, 11 houses and six vehicles. Yakubu made the revelation shortly after officials of the National Emergency Management Agency and those of SEMA visited the town for the on-the-spot assessment of the situation. The terrorists had attacked Guga, Dukawa and Gidan Kanawa. Dukawa and Gidan Kanawa are neigbouring communities in the Funtua Local Government Area of the state. Residents said the terrorists began operation late Monday at Dukawa, where they looted shops, before they moved to Gidan Kanawa, reportedly killing three residents. My uncle who lived in Owerri died a month ago and his body was taken to the mortuary in that facility.. My relatives who took his body there came out scandalized and outraged by the quantity of very good looking young boys shot and dumped there. According to a cousin, most of them looked like these normal young men that move around town with well manicured long beards or dreads. Obviously, the security agencies hate to see those...

You needed nobody to tell you that most were shot for their appearances or for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. We are talking of hundreds of corpses here. Even the Catholic bishop of Owerri has lamented about these extra judicial killings and the dumping of the corpses at FMC Owerri and other adjoining mortuaries. I have a friend who's a doctor and while discussing over this matter, he told me, that most of the cadavers they used for practicals at school in the East, were that of folks shot by the security agencies!

So why I'm am saying these? Lives in their thousands are involved here. Innocent people are getting killed. Innocent peoples properties are being burnt down. A scotched earth policy of obliterating everyone in sight is going on in the East. The high handedness is suffocating and most of the victims are the innocent ones. But folks from other parts of Nigeria, like the dumbo I quoted earlier don't care! As far as they're concerned, we brought it to ourselves.
