Ex-governor Ohakim was promising us to start the Orlu regional SURFACE water supply Scheme until he lost office to Rochas Okorocha.

Orlu regional SURFACE water supply Scheme is the last of the five regional SURFACE water supply Schemes Imo state governments from late Mbakwe till Ohakim have pursued.

Udenwa and Ararume tried with the help of the federal government to complete the Okigwe regional SURFACE water supply Scheme, though yet to function. Owerri regional SURFACE water supply Scheme has since functioned.
These water projects in Okigwe and Owerri are modern systems to supply cities with pipe borne water, not water borehole.

Concessioning two old and rustic water boreholes in Orlu to supply water to a population of about 300,000 people? Long story!!

Any Imo state government willing
to provide genuine water supply system to Orlu shall start to build the Orlu regional SURFACE water supply project. IMSG designed the project to supply running water to nearly all the lgas in Orlu district.

Same way the water Schemes for Okigwe and Owerri were designed.

Sometimes hatred can make a sane man deranged. He constructed more roads in your Orlu more than the history of the town from 1900 to 2011 combined yet you complain he has not tarred all the roads because of hatred. He built several standard schools in Orlu yet you refused to see them. Now he wants to actualise Orlu water scheme and you have already declared it failure even before it is achieved. I can bet that if the water scheme becomes successful you will look for a village where it is yet to reach all in order to belittle a huge success.

I stand to be corrected but Owerri seems to be the only city with functional public water supply today in the Southeast. Some of these little things do go a long way in alleviating people's suffering. I still leave you with pictures of 3 major roads and a school in Orlu town which were almost non-existent as at 2011.

It seems free education has been cancelled for non-indigenous students of IMSU. This is good news for those against free education. Their wish has been fulfilled and I hope they praise Okorocha for that.

That is good, they should have done this at the beginning of this program. The program was meant for Imo indigenes i don't see anything wrong with it, here in America they have what they called in state tuition that means, if you live and pay your taxes in a particular state and you or your kids are in one of state owned universities you pay less tuition and if you come from another state your tuition is higher .

Friend, No hate talk. We ask for our rights, not privilege.

In Orlu urban Lga, Okorocha government opened only two short roads - uncompleted.

In Orlu urban lga, there are too many roads opened up by the LG council many years ago, perhaps when Rocha might have been in school, but these roads have no asphalt on them, not withstanding that they are nearly fully built with houses on both sides. Udenwa govt and NDDC asphalted some of them.

These council roads not yet asphalted constitute no hazards. What worries people are the roads scratched by Okorocha contractors, with red sand poured on top - abandoned for four years running.

The two new short roads Okorocha government opened in Orlu but uncompleted:
one road that takes off from Ihioma road (ITC Park) to Carrot point on Umuna road - about 300 meters;

another road taking off from Amaigbo road (opposite St. Joseph Catholic Church) to International market - length about 500 meters - not completed.
Sometime last year, you even asked for the completion of the road from ITC Park to Carrot point.

Okorocha government dualized the existing roads you show here in Orlu urban lga - total of about 4 km, not new roads.

Udenwa Government did not asphalt any single road in Orlu. Arthur Nzeribe an Oguta man attracted NDDC projects to Orlu but was paid back by Udenwa in a wrong manner. Udenwa tried and I can't dismiss that but is not up to 5% of Okorocha in all ramifications.

You wrote that all the roads paved by Okorocha in Orlu is not up to 4km. The video of just one I posted earlier is up to 3 or 4km.

May God forgive your wicked soul. Owerri Orlu Road is even 45km and is being dualised full length with bridge at Njaba. There are things one cannot deny.

Udenwa did asphalt/dig gutters for more than 15 of Orlu urban roads, many of the roads were opened by Orlu LG council long-long before Udenwa became governor.
Those Council roads got asphalt for the first time under Udenwa government.

Arthur Nzeribe never brought a single development project to Orlu lga, that's why he was easily dethroned in 2007.
Udenwa alone couldn't have succeeded in removing Nzeribe from the Senate if Nzribe had done any meaningful development project for Orlu zone when he was in the Senate.

The same manner, we now point out to your friend, Gov.Okorocha, about his responsibilities in Orlu as governor, but you see it as hateful and lies; and Rochas believes he is punishing his old enemies in Orlu.

If Rochas continues with his abandoning of road works with dust as punishment for people on Orlu, he may get benched politically after 2019.

You show again this your Christmas video of Ihioma Road dualized by Okorocha government from Orlu ITC Park to Banana junction - distance of about 3km. Other three roads dualized add up to about 1.5km - namely,
Amaigbo Road 400 meters;
Owus Avenue about 400meters;
Asika Ilobi Avenue about 300meters;
and Enugu Road about 400meters.

Until you stop being a Merchant of Lies as you repeat your falsehoods and half-truths, these facts must be repeated.

Mind you, all we ask Okorocha is asphalt the roads his contractors left in hazardous conditions for four years running.

The Orlu stadium he dismantled, no new one yet;

the Prince Hotel he acquired land for since 2012, nothing;
the only state government establishment in Orlu, IMSUTH, which brings a few govt Naira to Orlu, Rochas has seen to it that IMSUTH has stopped admitting fresh students, because it no longer has facilities.

But at the same time, Okorocha is opening many medical facilities in Owerri, facilities that could have boosted the accreditation of IMSUTH if added to IMSUTH.

I am aware that you are aware that nearly every body from Orlu is aware that since Rochas Okorocha joined APC, he has turned to become the Mayor of Owerri, instead of the Governor of Imo state.

@Abagworo,

What do these suggest?

The only road that leads to IMSUTH, Orlu, built by Udenwa government remains non-motorable since Okorocha became governor.

Students of IMSUTH have protested over the road, and even took their protests to Owerri; yet no remedy till today. What does that suggest regarding Rochas' self-declared war against Orlu; apart from his dismantling the existing Orlu sports stadium and refusal to build the Prince Hotel in Orlu, after he started similar Hotel projects in Okigwe and Owerri?

As you confuse small children on NL with your pix/video of the about 4.5km roads dualized by Okorocha government in Orlu, after which he scratched many more and abandoned them, and retired to Owerri, you aren't doing your friend Rochas any good.
Okorocha as governor is cultivating lots of trouble with the people of Orlu and Ideato. Not even one government establishment, except secondary schools, exists in the whole of Ideato where Rocha comes from.

The IMSUTH road should have been the first road to be done by Okorocha government if he meant well for Orlu. Amaigbo road - the most used road in Orlu, Okorocha government scratched it for about 400meters and abandoned it. Even the nearby drainage system started by former Gov Ikwechagh, Rochas refused to complete, and floods that also threaten all the way to Ideato have been having a field day here with every slightest rainfall.

After decades the Akokwa-Orlu road was abandoned by the federal government, Udenwa government reconstructed the road.

After that, it faced the second road linking many communities in Ideato and to Orlu through Ugbelle in Ideato, near Rochas home town. Gutters on both sides of the road were built all the way to Ugbelle. Even Ohakim government worked on the road. All that was left was replace the old and completely worn out bridge across Urashi river in Ugbelle, then asphalt.
Ohakim left. Rochas government has left the millions of Naira spent so far on the road to wash away, instead of completing the road.

Meanwhile, Okorocha builds ring roads and flyovers, and drainage systems, as well as build new roads where no one lives in Owerri - in anticipation.

In the other 35 states in Nigeria, no governor governs his state as if everyone in the state lives in the state capital, the way Rochas has been governing Imo state since he joined APC.

I understand you are working for Udenwa but just accept this simple truth. Arthur Nzeribe attracted NDDC to Orlu and equally attracted the construction of Owerri/Onitsha expressway as well as Owerri/Orlu highway and Ihiala/Anara road. Since you people connived and pushed him off what federal presence has any of his successors brought to Orlu? Abagworo is a factful and truthful man. Please don't give undue credence to the wrong man. Okorocha has now dualised Orlu/Akokwa road with streetlights as well as Orlu/Owerri road (ongoing) with State funds. Udenwa tried his best but it is too little to make mention of when comoared with Okorocha.

Friend,
I don't work for Udenwa. Udenwa can't even work against Gov. Okorocha. Rochas Okorocha has been working against himself.

I am for the good of my Imo state. I want a situation where Imo state will not be a state with areas outside the state capital remain with the 19th century infrastructure, while the state capital, Owerri, is provided by govt with 21st century infrastructure and rapid development.

I don't want a disproportionate use of funds that should have been for provision of modern development infrastructure in all of Imo state to be continue to be used by Okorocha govt on Owerri alone. If population bursts in Owerri, the town bursts

These days, the way Rochas Okorocha talks Owerri, Owerri, and Owerri only, in his public speeches, including the last one at Shoprite opening ceremony; (observed the huge and frightful crowd in that Shoprite opening?)

these days, the way Rochas practically lumps nearly all his govt's development infrastructures in Owerri,
people now believe that Rochas Okorocha is having a troubling obsession for Owerri.

In fact, Rochas Okorocha breathes, easts and dreams Owerri since he attempted in 2012 to build roads in other areas outside Owerri.

Strange that a governor does not even realize that he is working against himself. Less than 25% of Imo state population live in Okorocha's Owerri. In other words, by dumping nearly all his development infrastructures only in Owerri, Okorocha is satisfying a minority;

and that's why Okorocha attracts the greatest acrimony from Igbos than other Igbo governors, despite all the modern development infrastructures he provides in Owerri.

No Governor in Southeast outside Ngige and Peter Obi has embarked upon the level of rural roads construction done by Okorocha. If Udenwa or Ohakim did 1/10th of what Okorocha has done in the outlying villages, we would have been much better now. Who knew Orlu could ever be a city? Let me tell you one thing you might not know many of the people angry with Rochas is because of Orlu's development. They feel short changed each time they visit Orlu and why shouldn't they? Orlu has been connected to Owerri with a dual carriage way with all the major roads in Orlu dualised and further extended to Akokwa. Orlu and Owerri is almost becoming one city as against Mbaise or Anara which are much closer.

Friend,
I don't agree with you that Orlu has become a city because Gov. Okorocha dualized Ihioma Road and the other four very short streets in Orlu; tell that Orlu is a city story to the birds. Population and institutions of learning and Commerce (industry and service companies) make a city. Orlu has none of these except the market established by Udenwa.

Even the university teaching hospital that used to bring a few Naira from govt o Orlu, Okorocha govt has stiffed the hospital, as Okorocha builds ring roads and flyovers and new blocks for the main IMSU campus in Owerri.

I showed you articles before now where those angry with Okorocha doing development works outside Owerri got relaxed since early 2013 when Rochas Okorocha turned himself to become the governor of Owerri. Did you not have time to open the articles and see the vitriolic they had against Okorocha then?

Please this your idea of Orlu and Owerri ever becoming one city, where did you get it from? From Rochas Okorocha?

Orlu and Owerri are two different/distinct places - never going to be one city - NEVER!!!!!

Why do you like contradicting yourself? You boldly claim that Udenwa never tarred any road in Orlu urban. Who constructed the Orlu-Akokwa road. Who tarred the Amaigbo road, Owus avenue, Ihioma road, the new Orlu-Owerri road, Umuaka-Nkwerre road and other laudable projects to numerous to mention.
Second, Arthur Nzeribe as Senator of Orlu zone since the second republic and before his replacement was always counter-productive in things that concerns the zone. Please provide the links to the so-called project your benefactor Authur Nzeribe attracted to Orlu zone in his over 30years as Senator. You made mention of NDDC projects sited in areas like Orlu urban, Ohaji-Egbema and other L.G.A in the zone and in a futile attempt to tie it to Nzeribe. Laughable! Can you even mention just one single project, just one Nzeribe carried out in Oguta his home town? Oguta is also your town which is even more easier to go on the fact finding mission.
The truth is that Nzeribe's tenure as Senator of Orlu was one of ineptitude, failure and collosal bondage. He held Orlu captive in the Senate and diverted all Federal goodies coming to the zone into his pocket. Thank God he was roundly rejected by ndi-Orlu in the 2007 senatorial polls. And thank God for Achike Udenwa who became the vessel used to pull him down.
Ex-Governor Achike Udenwa was the best thing that happened to Orlu zone. His effort made the federal government add areas like Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta into the list of oil bearing communities and it's was through his tireless battles that Imo state began reaping the dividends of the NDDC which ones used to be cornered mischievously to Rivers state. He established the only recognized higher institution of learning in the zone at Ohaji-Egbema -the Imo state polytechnic Umuagwo. At Orlu urban, he constructed the Sam Okwaraji stadium, the international market, the housing estate (now turned school of health) the federal high court complex, IMSUTH, and the school of nursing, Amaigbo. The federal government through his influence added Oguta among the designated areas for future seaport project in the country and so much projects his parly with then President Obasanjo attracted to Ndi-Orlu/Ndi-Imo.
So please give honour to whom honour is due.

Interesting. You not only have the details but accuracy. If another governor followed up Udenwa's development efforts in Orlu zone, as well his strides in urban development in Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu, by now, Orlu could have been competing hard with Owerri in urban sprawling;
Imo people wouldn't have the present ugly and shameful situation where Owerri is the only place with modern infrastructures in Imo state.

A closer look at the size of Orlu urban will show that if provided with a few infrastructures like urban drainage and asphalt of its many roads mostly built up with houses, it shall be closer to the size of Owerri Municipal.

Work commences on 3rd flyover in Owerri. Those who know Owerri will recognise this spot which is Concorde junction.

I hope so. Okorocha likes using direct labour instead of international contractors with bidding in order to cut cost. The Orji flyover looks good though.

I've never reached the end of MCC/Uratta Road but from google it is about 12km and ends at Otamiri. I want to believe work will only be done on the urban length of about 4 km.

from mcc junction in wetheral to where the mcc urratta rd ends at uratta juntion/ round about in urrata is 95 % urbanized

If what you wrote above is true then the more reason why direct labour shouldn't have been used since it is just 4km

Are you serious? When did it urbanise to that level? The last time I was there scanty unplanned housing developments were ongoing around Uratta housing up to that power line. I think its called Amawire. Has the urbanisation passed there?

it seems you went there last around 2008...it is still a bit unplanned in that axis but largely built up especially with residential modern normal 2 story variations of houses pilgrims all the way to that urrata junction/round past ama wire axis

I was there last 2012 and noticed the development looked unpleasant to my eyes with villagers creating unarranged layouts and selling lands in plots. My friend wanted to buy land opposite one Anglican church and I discouraged him because of the disorganised development.

The word "Quality" is what constructions are all about, my friend without it constructions are useless. Rural or high traffic roads we need quality i rather see the governor construct five or six quality roads then ten or fifteen substandard roads.

Why is it that this governor lack vision, why Rochas love mediocrity. Just look at this rendering of the bridge just mere looking at the design substandard are written all over it .

The ways of the man is peculiar. Most of the roads earlier thought by many to be substandard have improved to my amazement.
