jaead_03:

Please distinguished members of the forum I need urgent advise.

I applied for a UK student visa in Abuja in July to study M.Sc Information System for Financial Services in a Scottish university. Submitted all necessary papers, admission letter, certificate of acceptance, accommodation allocation letter with receipt for accommodation payment, my bank statement with close to a million naira in balance, academic transcript from the premier university, marriage certificate, letter from my husband that he fully support my further studies and will take care of the kids while away, receipt for three thousand pounds (£3000) part payment for tuition, sponsorship letter from my sponsor (an uncle), his statement of account in domiciliary with a balance of £13,000, copies of pages from his international passport, copies of papers for his landed properties in the UK. However, the ECO denied me the visa, with an explanation that he did not think my sponsor will be willing to spend all his savings on my studies. OK!

I applied the second time in August, with new supporting documents and those earlier submitted with the first application included. In this application I submitted a receipt from the school for a full payment of £10,167 (that is total fees minus the five percent early payment discount offered by the university). I submitted the swift copy for the payment and an updated bank statement from my sponsor. Suffice to say that the ECO who treated my application felt I had not showed enough evidence that my sponsor will be capable to sponsor my studies without any recourse to public funds. To further 'justify' his/her ground of refusal, the ECO stated he/she do not believe that my sponsor is my uncle as claimed.

I was advised to write a letter of reconsideration to the High Commission with a new application. I wrote a strongly worded letter (with the new application on the 11th of September), stating that what else do I need to prove that my sponsor (who is a Chairman of a well known oil company in Nigeria) has the financial capabilities after making a full payment of the tuition fees.  On the issue of my relationship with him, I explained that the sponsor had earlier in the year sponsored me and my kids (2) for a visitor's visa in January 2008, which the embassy issued. (A visa which we did not overstay). If the embassy could at that time accept him as my uncle, why the sudden change of heart at this point. Apart from this, he wrote a letter with my second application explaining that I am his niece. That my mother is his sister, with same surname.

However, for the new application I submitted my sponsor's income and company tax clearance certificates for 2007 and 2008, copy of the certificate of incorporation, an updated bank statement in my sponsor's name (not company), my statement of account, a covering letter from my own bank showing a deposit of three million naira in August, from which a payment of £7,167 by Swift was made to the university. I also wrote a letter to indicate that the money was made available to me by my sponsor for studies in the UK.

After over twenty working days, the embassy sent back my passport (27th September) with another refusal, and a simple refusal note that my first degree (Political Science) is not consistent with the course I have been admitted to study and my experience in business development in the bank I worked. This is the only basis for refusing my application, nothing else. At least he/she did not state anything else. I was given a right to appeal, as in other applications.

please I need your advise on this seemingly flimsy excuse for refusal. The university stated in the application pack that the M.Sc Information Systems programme is for graduates of other disciplines, and it was on the basis of this that I decided to apply. Does it matter you have to be in an IT related job to update your skills? In a world where graduates of other disciplines are moving into the IT world to be more relevant in the ever changing job market.

please, my brothers and sisters, Akolawole, funkybabe, londoncool and all experts in the house,  please advise a sister in distress. I look forward to your contributions.

thank you.

@jaead

bros i think it doesn't really matter which area one wishes to further in his career its just a matter of choice. Try and provide to them (ECO) cogent reasons for the sudden diversion. Ordinarily its better for one to continue in his line though its not written anywhere.
In my school in uk most people jumped into a course they knew nothing about and when the course actually commences, they begin to see things, out of what they expected. Most of them switch immediately to other depts in time and some others will stay and die in silence and afterwards fail. They are either refunded little amount to go or a few who scale through luckily through the 1st session and dint in the 2nd session are given pg/Dip. You can imagine what that means after paying heavily,  its not worth it. But the koko is that, it all depends on oneself. So my guy check very well because stuffs like this happen ok.

@vikiviko

Man you are consistently inconsistent, you have said earlier that "The tax cert is from Lagos state not Firs; and on you last post you in turn asked the concerned-yetti if she is sure that its from the FIRS. What have you given to her? you should know what you gave to somebody and like you said again "the very source i got this doc from is been the same had used in time past without a single case of falsehood".

You claimed in ur person to be true even as kadman supported you as well as many others, but you are constantly undermining your credibility by an avalanche of inconsistent statements. From what i feel there must be a third party involved in this. We implore of you to kindly come out and say the truth, the whole and nothing but the truth.

You have take cognizance the presence of some visa gurus akowale and funky who are interested to assist the poor yettidear.
But you are confusing them and everyone with your statements which is nothing but imponderables.

Yetti and presjany the apologies are uncalled for at least not yet. cheers

yettidear, don't talk like that, i know your faith is diminishing but u cud still spice up ur life with the present and forget about the past. Old things are passed away and all things becomes new. I believe there cud be a way out trust me. U can listen to the house and c if u can appeal since you 've got the right to do so. But implore the assistance of the fellas funkybaby mentioned at the visa appeal thread.

It has happened be say e don happen, so girlie move on.
Look so many people have different stories to tell about the ukembassy. I have tried to listen-to different races where i am right now and they've got stories to tell so its not just perculiar to nigerians but the entire locations in its generality who wish to enter the uk.

Immagine Rapper Buster Rhymes came from his country and the UK BOARDER-immigrations at the airport refused him entry, he was detained from 7am to around 5.30pm.

"My dear, "YOU CAN IF YOU THINK YOU CAN" n i think n feel you can. don't let it border u, still believe, and keep your aspires.
Your parents should understand because no be you be british embassy.

Cheers

Yettiluv, i saw this yesterday immediately u posted it but i was shocked n couldnt write anything. Its a pity. How could you have known that it was all fake. You have just fallen a victim to scam, but all is still well; i believe the worse did not happen as regards to the ban. I guess, it not the time for self-recrimination, but, to pick up the pieces and move on. You have to again bear in mnd that your dreams and aspirations is not yet a mirage.

You can browse your intended school website and check if your proposed course has a january batch if so, then better.

I keep on saying that the ECO has got some mercurial habbit and its fast developing into character because i just figured that i did not submit any tax clearance alongside my application then. I again felt your prayer as God aswered what you supplicated but was merciful to you due to your sincere heart so ban was left out.

Kindly note that it might seem the "end of the world" as i know how downcast and demoralized you will be but trust me its not.

cheers!!!

@thebest367,

Chei nawa oh! My brother, your story is quite pathetic n this can happen to any one. Read thru what Presjany and Royalboy posted and make up a letter from that. I think they are human and you might have a chance or be lucky that your letter could be read by a compassionate person, who would understand you they way we do. But make sure that you have an official back up letter from waec which should be sent differently to the BDHC and yours then.

You cannot do it all alone because all they see in your file is a FRAUDSTER. Just like royal boy pointed, you might just be considered on compassionate grounds. This is the PRIMARY STEP YOU HAVE TO TAKE.

If you can, MAKE A CASE; serious one with the officer or staff that lured you into this because which ever way you are loosing already.
You lost your money-N7,500(for express cert.), you have been banned to accomplish ur future dreams because of mislead, your precious time n energy because of greed. In fact charge concerned personel for damages. (As for me i wont relent) 10yrs is 2018 my guy. i.e Y'adua must have finished his 2nd tenure as "onye isi Ala".

@londoncool,

My chair how body? hope u are chilling. Its really begining to get cold over here. The temp has gone to 8degrees. Am concerned about presjany n yettidear. I dont know if u hav reached dem privately in regard of their application.

Yettidear n Presjany do u attempt to write emails to the authorities? I feel u shud start to disturb them in ur regard thru emails n make them see reasons.
Try n cap it up with prayers cos thats ur only weapon. They ECOs are the "untouchables", u dont c them, u dont talk to them, but only perserverance n steadfast in what u do can go the extra mile to facilitate the release.
On a second thought you should be happy because 98.9999% of delayed applications come out successfull. Shawamma's Hypothesis n it will be a theory in your case. AMEN.

Girlie i wish and pray for all the best for you but you have to seriously write to your school for an extension. Its very paramount. Pray persistently. If the world rejects you and God has not; then "CARRY GO"  because nothing mega.
Be optimistic and believe in your dreams, it shall come to pass.

I couldn't agree more with what Kadman said. Since they rejected you based on photocopied dox, i feel there is no need changing sponsorship but you could add more personal docs at least to augment to what your sponsor have.

presjany:

I have the sum of N1.6m in my account - proceeds from stock (all supporting documents attached). N1.6m is approx 6,500 pounds. and I still have shares worth N1 million(evidence shown).
(ALL THESE SUPPORTING DOCS WERE ALSO ATTACHED IN MY PREVIOUS APPLICATION)
You get money o no be small

Best of luck

i have been very disturbing on this issue of student visa, i know. But i need to, considering the predicament i have found myself.

I have one last question to ask,

I wish to know if the BDHC can release an applicants documents (student visa) after the course has commenced or is there any case peculiar to that i.e where it has happened before?.

thanks

Brother thank you for your help all the while; i will remain ever grateful and loyal.

The concerned are still yet tidy up their investigations. I have done nothing to warrant this torture, but whatever the outcome is, i will accept in good fate. i am actually preparing to move on and forget about all the stuff as my course starts on the 15th and i am to enrol from 10th i.e wednesday next week.

The course leader of my proposed course is unwilling to accept late arrival, as a result, no extension is granted to me.
But no shaking, all is well though.

To all that is waiting for their applications, I WISH YOU GUYS ALL THE BEST AND SAFE JOURNEY AS YOU HIT THE HOME OF THE LORDS.

To all that can advise

Kindly note that my student visa application which i submitted on the 26 june 2008 has not yet been ready.
This implies that it has taken up to precisely 2 months and 2 days.

I have sent an email to the concerned without any reply; i again sent a reminder (2dys later after the previous) so as to expedite action in my regard without any reply.

Is this normal or what can i do?.

I, as well visited the BDHC LAST week to express my concern but i could not even speak to any reasonable official because i could not gain access to the premises.

I also visited the the VAC VI today once again and the staffers were not yielding. If i wasn't man enough, they were just on the verge of mockery.

My people i am particularly thinking about all my originals which stands to be in their possession.
I don't know what to do. I have been left in the dark and i am totally in a fix.

Shalom as you respond.

Education / Re: Secrets Of First Class Students? by shawamma(m): 11:54am On Aug 27, 2008
This is a very interesting topic that really begs for contribution.

The first class thing i believe some people are naturally brilliant. They find it easy to understand stuffs easily.
One can actually decide what he wants to be by looking up to people that have got something up.
If you crave to be like them, you can't be like them, but you can train your brain to sharpen so that you can measure up with what they do.
You can actually do this by cultivating that reading habit.
One has to study him/herself and find out what best suites him/her because we are actually created to be different. Everything boils down to how you coach yourself once you have noticed that you are not too intelligent.

Believe is very important in this case.

When i was in secondary school i had friends/schoolmates that turns out to be better than i am and i respect them and look up to them.
Then i try in my own little way to see if i can improve. When we entered university we dispersed into different schools and i decided to build on myself what i have learnt from them and became so serious with studies seeing every damn thing that concerns academic as important. I did it and i excelled.

I was a four pointer in my 1st year because i concentrated so well, so in 2nd semester "2nd year" towards "3rd year" i lost little concentration because i need to socialize with pals ( you should know what i mean) then i came down to 3.7-3.9.
in my finals i decided to do better and i made 4.8 for the first time meaning 1st class.
In my degree exams i told my self that i need to attempt all A's and i made all A's i.e 5.0

So i really think judging from myself that people actually differ cos i hate to see past questions or even read with past questions. I feel comfortable reading all what is within my scope (for any semester) and articulate the rest in the exam hall.

Yes! some are born just like that, and others can still achieve just that

@n0mi_89

you have answered correctly with the ones u did--"i think"
1. why you have chosen the institution?
I think you should go the website of the institution, browse thru their site and see if you can spot the achievements the school possess, and then coin something out from their achievements. You have to be very adept in writing that cos the ECO might say you lack proper knowledge of the institution you have sought.

You can as well compare the tuition of ur skul with that of similar institution that offer similar course and then include that
you skul appear cheaper so you chose the skul.

2. Why do you think this course will be of benefit to you?

You can tell that "with the recent prospects in IT based technology you wish to add value to that of your country's while enhancing your career in that direction yet further"
or
You have become particularly interested in an IT based course and you wish to up date your self and thus enhance your career prospects in that direction

3 when this course is finished do you plan to undertake another course in the uk?

Well i don't really know much about this, but i suggest you say "not at all" i.e N/A

i cant tell if i am perfect but you still can augment in what i have written so far and write yours.

NB: YOUR DICTION COUNTS
