Princes Asinya: Dear Nifemi..ur a sickler doesn't in anyway mean its the end of the world..sicklers are really beautiful people who tend to answer God's call earlier than others(not in all cases though). I just advice that you keep to your doctor's instruction and take very good care of yourself..I recently lost a brother who was ss as well..he died at age 29.Twas quite painful for the family but we had no choice..if he had taken care of himself properly things would have been better. Take good care of yourself Nifemi, avoid getting addictive to pain killers especially pentazocine and be super close to your God..cheers!
really irritating post answer God's call earlier ? please don't trivialize something so serious.

Politics / Yuguda Misyarns by SoJaded: 8:44am On Apr 29, 2011
The governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, has said it was the destiny of the corps members killed in the post-election violence that erupted in the state after the presidential election to die in the riots.

"As far as I am concerned, these corps members were destined to experience what they experienced during the course of their service to their fatherland because every new day is a new experience to each and every one of us as human beings," said the governor.

Mr Yuguda, who was fielding questions from journalists in Bauchi shortly after casting his vote at Baba Sidi Primary School on Ran Road under heavy security yesterday, said "as human beings people must accept whatever comes their way, good or bad".

He also said when the corps members were posted to the state for the national service, he did all he could as the chief security officer of the state to protect them until they were recruited as electoral officers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

"I promised to give them jobs and make them citizens of Bauchi State seven years after their service. I made sure they were well protected in my care but when I handed them over to INEC, it was the responsibility of INEC to ensure that they were well protected.

"You cannot hold Yuguda or Bauchi State (responsible) for what happened to those corps members, because it was the responsibility of INEC to take care of them."

The governor urged corps members who had been evacuated from the state in the aftermath of the killing of their colleagues to return, promising to ensure they are protected. He added that they should see the service year as a sacrifice to their country.

"I urge them not to see what happened to their colleagues as the impression of the state. It is only a few people that unleashed violence on innocent citizens and most of them were imported from neighbouring states as well as from Niger Republic."

NYSC / NYSC To Be Reviewed Finally by SoJaded: 8:43am On Apr 24, 2011
Irked by the post election crisis in some parts of the north, culminating in the slaying of several members of the National Youth Service Corps, the deputy senate president,Senator Ike Ekweremadu has promised that the Senate would review the act establishing the NYSC scheme.

Ekweremadu said Saturday in Enugu that this had become imperative so as to make the scheme more efficient and to protect the lives of innocent Nigerian youths from the line of fire any time there is violence in any part of the country.

Ekweremadu also revealed that the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would meet after the gubernatorial and state assembly elections to discuss how political offices would be shared among the six geo-political zones of the country.
He said the current situation where the highest political office being enjoyed by the south-east is the position which he occupies would be reviewed at the forthcoming meeting.

Briefing newsmen, the deputy senate president expressed dismay over the killings in various parts of the north following the outcome of last weekend’s presidential election, noting that the NYSC scheme, established solely for national cohesion, had failed woefully.
He said reform was needed to enable it to play other significant roles in nation building.

As an interim measure, he suggested the reform that could make it compulsory for youths to serve in their geo-political zones until such a time when the country has achieved national cohesion and peace, stressing that this would reduce the level of carnage recorded by members participating in the scheme.

He insisted that it was unacceptable the level of risk innocent youths of the country are being exposed to in the name of the scheme, assuring that he would personally champion the move to review the scheme to play other roles when the upper legislative chamber resumes from recess.

He said, “It is saddening and we regret what has happened, something we never expected at this level of our development.
“It shows that effort to ensure national cohesion, peace and togetherness is yet to be achieved. Yet, the essence of NYSC in the first place is to have this kind of level of integration of our people from one part of the country to another.

“So based on what has happened in the recent past and last week, where young men and women involved in the scheme end up being victims of one conflict or the other, I suggest that we have a review of the NYSC programme because the act was made part and parcel of our constitution in 1979 and is enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

“So when we go back, as we continue to review the 1999 Constitution, we will take away the NYSC legislation from the constitution, so it will be an ordinary legislation and that will help us make the necessary amendments that can change the mandate of the scheme.”
Ekweremadu, who called on Nigerians to shun violence and embrace peace especially in this period of Easter, said that the uprisings in the north had thrown the country back, explaining that government was desirous of fast-tracking development in the country.

@flckr

Welcome to Nigerian doctors, the nurses took delivery, the first baby was born at Island Maternity and the doctors did not show up until the next morning, it was the sister on duty that took delivery, infact, the doctor that came early in the morning was considered incompetent by the sister, this was in 2004, the other two were born at private hospitals and the nurses did the bulk of the work, when it comes to delivery, midwives can do everything jare. It is only where there are complications that doctors must be around.
Also do not go around calling people liars, it reflects badly on you.
i think u need to be real careful so ur words don't come back to haunt you
and i pray u never really need a doctor at any point in your life
for people like eko ile they're justified in talking crap they're only earning their pay, but when a nigerian who is going to depend on these same doctors comes to a public forum to spout the trash u've been spilling it's really sad.

the post actually read out the way i put it, but unfortunately i don't know how to do the source thingy
meanwhile everyone seems to have missed my point which is the obvious lopsidedness in the way our votes in Nigeria are counted 19 states to 17 states etc, and u wonder at the southern reps in the assembly or they don't know that tht is their function to defend our interests ?not fighting over allowances

Atiku while addressing delegates at the Rivers State PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt yesterday, stressed that the power sharing policy of the party, made it possible for an Ijaw to be current President of the country.

He said: “I was telling Bayelsa delegates that do you know that the whole of you are not up to one senatorial district in Kano? Let us be very thoughtful of what we are doing. I was telling some people last night that you want to abandon zoning, not so. You want to abandon zoning. As of today, 61 per cent of PDP delegates are from the North. I don’t need to come here and talk to you.”

He added: “All I need is to mobilise all the northern delegates to vote for me, even if I take 55 per cent of that 61 per cent, I am okay. You have only 31 per cent here in the South. The entire number of delegates from the South-South are not half of that of the North West. Tell me when it comes to numbers how you are going to win this election?

Why do people especially xtians especially nigerian xtians get easily upset when their pastor or their church is criticized but never when Jesus Christ who they emulate is criticized. They are ready to go up in arms when something or somebody says something negative about their pastors, who is only human or their church but will do nothing when Jesus Christ is criticized. I know a girl who threatened to slap my friend for criticizing her pastor & funny enough the pastor was my friend's uncle as in his mother's younger brother. Do y'all know Elton john came out to say Jesus Christ was gay, & christians just let it slide. I dare him to say such against Mohamed. We as xtains especially Nigerian xtians need to get our heads out of our a**es cos we don't know poo!

Health / Re: Evil Nurses & Doctors In Nigerian Public Hospitals by SoJaded: 10:56am On Jan 28, 2010
jumie:

I have always wondered to myself why it seems that many workers especially in the Nigerian public health sector seem to be extremely wicked, rude, uncouth, nasty and ultimately wicked!

Personally, I have seen where the nurses rain curses on the patients. This happens regularly in LUTH for example.

In another instance, I went to visit someone who just put to bed at Gbagada general hospital and saw how the women in labour were treated. Most of them are totally abandoned. I even heard the doctor saying (to a woman in labour, already on the delivery bed) to call him whenever she was ready, while leaving her alone in the labour room.

It is really pathetic. It seems to be that all these public health workers seem to be under some form of "evil influence"!

My friends mum died do to negligence on the part of the doctors and nurses in LUTH!

I will really like to hear your experiences if any on our Nigerian Public health services!
my dear i think u're talking abt the female of the species because at the risk of generalising you just described the typical woman.she's lousy, rude and wicked.
and if you have a problem with doctors or nurses pls next time you're ill feel free to go to a chemist or herbalist it really is not a crime

PapaBrowne:

Every Nigerian has the right to be a member of a political party.Whether you are a Chief judge, Teacher, Armed Robber, Cleaner, Pastor or whatever.
The idea is that in holding certain positions as sensitive as maybe a CBN Governor, Chief Judge, Clergy etc, you are not to allow your political affiliation to have any impact on your job description.

So I don't know what this Falana guy is talking about. Truly activists are only useful for military regimes. They always seem to loose salt when democracy is practised.
I wonder if u have any legal knowledge or training giving u confidence to just disregard the view of a SAN on the legality of Soludo's appointment
