Health / Re: Marriage And The Sickle Cell Genotype Issue by spicequeen(f): 3:32pm On Feb 12, 2008
The post is a good one that brings to the fore the issue of sickle cell and marriage.
Many here are voicing their beliefs and that is good.
If two people who are AS decide to get married I think they are doing so as two consenting adults who are ready to face the consequences.
I am a sickler and many don't know me to be sick. I am aslo im my 30s.
The fact that I won't like to have my offspring or any other child go through what I went doesn't mean I or other sicklers can't have a chance to live life to the fullest.
Is it wrong for us to wish for love and affection from a mate or to wish for that special someone to spend our lives with because we are sicklers? We are also human. There are many patients out there whom their disease put them in varying degrees of pain but who are living life to the full why not us? Are sicklers the only people who die young?
I think we deserve a chance at life too and why it is not advisable AS people wishing to marry should be left to make their own decision.
Sports / Re: Eto'o Is Truly A Nigerian! by spicequeen(f): 4:42pm On Mar 04, 2006
Which year did Eto'o become a Nigerian? African Yes! Nigerian NOOOO!
No offence here but it seems Nigerians are always out to seize anything go coming from Cameroon. In 1960 the then Northern Cameroon was taken by Nigeria. The comes Bakassi. And now Eto'o because he's making History abi? When he was a nobody he was not from Nigeria today he's a Nigerian. I'm sure if we start saying the likes of Jenny and RMD are Cameroonians U guys will be ok with it?
I know many nigerians who born here still they don't claim to be Cameroonians.
ETO'O FILS IS A CAMEROONIAN PERIOD!!!
Romance / Re: What Is The Right Age To Get Married? by spicequeen(f): 4:58pm On Feb 17, 2006
Marriage is to my opinion about a give and take and learning to compromise.
I don't think there's really a right age to be married even though  in our African culture, most mums put pressure  on their kids especially the girls to get married earlyand produce grandkids. U have to be really ready to be able to take such a great leap after all marriage is not all about entering ur bed room and coming out with a change of clothes.
The person U are at 18 or 22 will not be the same person when U are say 10 years older from now. While maturity tops the list and financial security is important it's not the only determinant of marriageable age for me.

How many of us have learnt to love unconditionally?

How many of Us are willing to make a compromise for the sake of peace in the matrimonial home even if we believe we are right and our mate is wrong?
How many of us are willing to solve problems as they arise and not bear a grudge waiting for a dam to build before we explode?
How many of us are ready to avoid the me first attitude and put our mate's interests ahead of ours?
The list is long but I think an agreeable age is between 27 and , when u are ready to make such a comittement; ready to love ur mate despite his /her faults.

Seun I think U shouldn't have said if a gal is 30 she should start panicky cos she's ben too choosy.  Tell me if U were a girl could U rather remain single or rush into marriage with a rascal etc  and in 2 or 3 yrs come out becos U want to fit in?
Most of us who are going on 30 and still single will gladly tie th knot if 'mr right' comes.
What about boys who want every girl they see to be Beyoncé are they not choosy too?
U can't buy happiness by being married and as much as I love to be married I'd rather remain single and make the best out of life than to marry a man who's selfish a chit and U name it!!!!
Sisters out there don't give Up!! No matter how old people may claim U are any man who truly loves U will marry U. No need rushing into a marriage cos of some misguided societal view about acceptable marriage age.
Did our Creator specify what age is right for marriage? I'd like to know!!

Religion / Re: Is Bible The Word of God? by spicequeen(f): 1:30pm On Dec 24, 2005
Yes the bible is the word of God.
Unlike humans many of these bible writers wrote everything even their own shortcomings.
Many of biblical prophecy came true at exactly the appointed times this gives proof of a Supreme being being in control.
The simple account at 2Timothy 3:16,17 which says all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial... gives edvidence of the bible being the word of God.
Attempts to destroy the bible or to stop the so called common man from reading it have proved futile which only goes to show prove that God protects his word.

***********************************************************
Nferyn,
the book of creation that is the beauty around us etc and the simple Genesis account which says at Genesis 1:1 that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth gives a simple explanation that man and the universe did not come by chance. I believe U are a father with kids if so did ur kids come along just by chance? If U make a car or a plane or any other thing u are called a genius but evolutionist claim man and the universe with all its complexities came by cahnce isn't this too farfetched? There sure exist a Creator and the bible is really His word.

**********************************
Ajisafe,
I dare U too proof that the Bible is not the word of God

If pimples makes one ugly then I think all of us have some ulgliness in us. pimples are just a normal stage of development. Beneath that ugly catapillar always comes a beautiful butterfly.
for me though most of the girls are beautiful; the most beautiful in my list are:
1) Genevieve
2)Stella damasus: Regina askia
3)Omotola
the rest can come in any order

Culture / Re: Female Circumcision: what's wrong with it? by spicequeen(f): 3:47pm On Nov 14, 2005
FIDA is an international federation. It helps to enlighten women about their rights especially where the law is concerned. In Cameroon FGM is practiced in some tribes esp among some moslem tribes. What women truly need or rather what is need ed is 2 enlighten and sensitize the population about the negative consequencies of FGM.
I believe with all the awareness hopefully this painful practice will be eliminated for good. Its good to know many are against this debasing practice even if it is done in the name of so called customs
TV/Movies / What's with RMD, Genny, Stella Damasus et al during and after the ban? by spicequeen(f): 3:19pm On Nov 14, 2005
I find it rather funny that at a time when Nigerian movies are getting international recognition; producers choose to 'ban' those making the waves like RMD and Genny. For me this sounds very foolish and somehow childish especially with some of the reasons given like their fees were too high! What is with these favourites during and after the ban; that's if the ban is over? Could some one please enlighten me? I'd be happy to know if anyone was for or against the ban. I most certainly was against!
Culture / Re: Female Circumcision: what's wrong with it? by spicequeen(f): 2:23pm On Nov 07, 2005
Go Nferyn go bro! Give them a piece of their medicine! Some here are just talking foolish. While U are cutting the hand maybe U cut the legs and even the p**** too!!
Culture / Re: Female Circumcision: what's wrong with it? by spicequeen(f): 2:18pm On Nov 07, 2005
I don't think there are any medical reasons for FGM allonym! Drs can testify to that! Pls get ur facts straight!
Culture / Re: Female Circumcision: what's wrong with it? by spicequeen(f): 2:15pm On Nov 07, 2005
This is a very interesting and enlightening topic for some of the ills committed against women all in the name of culture. Not only the clitoris but also the labia minora of the girl is cut off. Those who accept this are to my opinion are not far from babarians and go to quiz the work of the Creator. If God didn't want women to enjoy sex especially within the confines of matrimony He shouldn't have given them the clitoris et al that is cut of during FGM right?
Also there is no guarantee that circumcised girls don't have affairs is there? What abt men who are ever so ready to boss abt their sexul expliots don't they need to be 'circumcised' to so that they don't feel that urge? What also abt men who go out to gain satisfaction cos their circumcised wives don't give them satisfaction?
Think again there is no telling what pains these innocent girls go through and in an age of infectious diseases the risk they face.
Aids, difficulty in child birth and possibility of death, bleeding to death or even dying in the process if wounds become infected.
No to FGM! Its a debasement of humanity especially the woman. Girls fight if U can. To me this is just one of the many crimes committed towards the female gender just becos of their femaleness. Like Rape and prostitution, FGM is a gender related violence and ought to be stopped!!!
Have a nice day
TV/Movies / Most Natural up and coming new actress by spicequeen(f): 1:59pm On Nov 07, 2005

TV/Movies / Re: Genevieve Nnaji for Hollywood? by spicequeen(f): 1:49pm On Nov 07, 2005
It is often said we should be thankful for the things we have cos millions are dying to have what we take for granted. Even though am a big fan of Genny, I still think she should stay were she is and enjoy while she's there. Sure she's beautiful talented and all that but she rather stay in nollywood than cross over to hollywood and start from scratch cos she'll sure fade into history!! Gal think hard before U leap!
TV/Movies / Re: Best Couple in the Nigerian Movie World? by spicequeen(f): 1:39pm On Nov 07, 2005
RMD and SDA
Rita Dominic and Jim
Genny/Ramsey/Emeka Ike
Omotola and Tony Umez
Celebrities / Re: What's Up With Stella Damascus-Aboderin? (After Husband's Death) by spicequeen(f): 3:58pm On Oct 21, 2005
Stella doesn't need to dress all in black or carry all those harsh customs on widowhood before the world would know she's truly mourning her late husband! I think if U gals are judging u can stop! How many of us know the number of times or the tears she sheds in the privacy of her house or heart for her late hubby? None! She has kids to take care of and she has to be strong for her kids. What we should do is cheer her not criticise her. I guess cos she's a woman all types of things will be said men go even faster but nothing is usually said. Why?
I beg give her a break none of us is going to help her pay those bills and except her hubby was the richest man on earth, that money will one day get finished. This doesn't she has forgotten her late hubby so soon! smiley
TV/Movies / Re: Most Handsome Nigerian Actors by spicequeen(f): 3:37pm On Oct 21, 2005
RMD tops the list
Pat Attah(I hope he can cut off that hair! Makes him look ugly instead)
Desmond Elliot
Ramsey Nouah
Chidi Mokeme
there are some cute ones too but these top the list for me
TV/Movies / Re: Common Flaws in Nigerian Home Videos by spicequeen(f): 3:29pm On Oct 21, 2005
all that are some of the flaws. If I understand the topic well I think actors etc do well to stick to what is purely African! They immitate the western nations too much. Indians produce great films but they are still strictly Indian I think nigerians can do same! It should be purely African not 'when Americans act Nigerians copy'!!
Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Wants A Blood Covenant by spicequeen(f): 2:56pm On Oct 21, 2005
are U insane? Sorry no offence but if U know what is good for U then i'll say take a hike as fast as ur legs could carry U! For goodness sake don't do it! What's she afraid of that she needs a blood convenant to prove U love her? If she can't see the love then she never will blood convenant or not!! shocked shocked
Celebrities / Re: Genevieve vs Omotola vs Ini Edo vs Stella damascus by spicequeen(f): 2:49pm On Oct 21, 2005

Celebrities / Chidi Mokeme Vs Pat Attah: Who Is More Handsome? by spicequeen(f): 12:05pm On Oct 14, 2005
Some hold the view that Chidi Mokeme is more handsome than Pat Attah. In my opinion; he got some sex appeal but Pat is more handsome. What do U think?
