Its not about mainland or island,we"ve heard cases of stolen vehicles at the almighty Oriental Hotel before...the most important thing is for security to be everywhere and be functioning properly

It's very obvious that there is high rate of crime on mainland.
Thou the fact is that no place is safe in Nigeria (security wise) except the Nigerian army barracks

@ Op no dey bobo boys jawe...
It damn impossible for any school in the US or UK to grant admission to study medicine and surgery over here. Even if you are a resident, you must have bagged a degree in a paramedical field first from any reputable university here (uk/us).

The best offer you can earn on a studentvisa is a masters or Phd degree Which is minimum of 18months and 36months respectively.

@Op, Next time you are you framing your lies..... Please think with your cerebrum

Deal with it ladies.....I also vibrate sumtyms wen gushin out those SPE!RMS

Why do people like you paint CS like an evil thing.
They are medical conditions that warrants for CS

1 Mothers with shallow pelvis or Contracted pelvis and cephalopelvic dis-proportion
2. Cases of cc cervix / Cancer of the cervix
3. Pelvic tumour especially if impacted in the pelvis
4. Antepartum hemorrhage
5. Also Hypertensive disorders with pregnancy. Mothers with HBP
Previous uterine scar as hysterotomy or metroplasty.
Previous successful repair of vesico vaginal fistula
Malposition of the fetus
Fetal distress before full cervical dilatation
DM
Repeated intranatal fetal death (obsteric history)
Pathological condition of fetus like hydrocephaly
Post mortem CS done within 10 mins after mother's death to. save the fetus
With CS you can determine the EDD your child, whether Dec. 25th or Jan 1st or your DOB; just make ensure she conceive 9 months earlier.

Although CS is very clean and fast but there are limitations to CS

Mothers die very rarely these days, but the risk of maternal death is higher with caesarean section than with V*gina birth as is the risk of needing a hysterectomy.
Scar tissue or adhesions may cause long- term pain
Bowel obstruction
Infertility or miscarriage and may make repeat surgery more difficult.
Caesarean mothers are also at increased risk of
•ectopic pregnancy
• placenta previa
• And placenta accreta in subsequent pregnancies.
Babies are occasionally cut by the obstetrician’s scalpel.
Babies born by caesarean section have a higher risk of respiratory distress syndrome than babies born v*ginally at the same gestational age.
Post- operative wind may also cause discomfort and pain in the abdomen and elsewhere in the body – even in the shoulders – due to pockets of air being trapped.
There is also the scar; usually a horizontal cut of about 12-15cm is made just below the pubic hairline.
If not properly stitched, it could result to infection (mucus formation that can leads to death if not given proper medical attention.
The upper portion of pubic hair is shaved and can often be ITCHY as it grows back. Not an easy area to scratch, especially with the presence of a tender scar.
So at op itching is normal
But with the help of (ori) shea butter, citrus fruits (orange) and medications (antibiotics + vit. C) it heals faster.

V*ginal birth today carries a risk of episiotomy.
The idea of an obstetrician taking a knife or scissors to any area of the perinuem, especially the v*gina, is a terrifying prospect for any woman.
V*ginal birth can be messy. It is usually hard work and women often perspire heavily.
There are other body fluids involved too – the amniotic fluid, urine and blood – and there is the placenta (afterbirth).
V*ginal birth take a long time and can sometimes be quite boring.
But with the help of epidura anesthesia the lady won't feel any pain, she ll give birth like passing out normal urine.

So it all depends on the STATE OF HEALTH OF THE MOTHER
(for V-birth / CS).
Family / Re: Her Dad Is Attracted To Her - What Should She Do by stede(m): 3:30am On Oct 15, 2013
flakky legend: I have a friend from Zambia who told me that when she was growing up her mum used to tell her to tie a wrapper over her trouser anytime her dad comes back from work. She used to tell her dat she shouldnt wear trousers when her dad is around dat does she want to seduce her dad. I was wondering d need for that but with these kinds of stories mothers cannot be too careful. some of us were very lucky even at 12yrs old I could still sleep in my uncle's room even with my head on his chest. Till I go my bathroom tushed up i had my bath in my dad's bathroom let me say till like 21yrs. sometimes i took naps in my dads room during d day (never spent d night o). these days with all these stories I conclude dat some parents my mum included were quite careless.

One of the best comments so far.
I'm a consultant of human psychology, I can tell you 110% that the did was done and likely that she was impregnated which must have been aborted by her father resulting to the trauma, pain, guilt, continuous sobbing and silent cry from my past experience of Human psychology.

2) The story is possible to be a doctored (false) story just to entertain people.
I have handled more than 1000 cases of stuffs like this as a consultant psychologist, so it happens in our community every seconds.
(Father/uncle/brother with sister daughter/relative/lesbianism ) but most folks carpet it within the family to protect the image of the family (home).

It happens in the olden days too, but it so rampant nowadays because of the kind of dresses our ladies wear. (what you see affects your thinking but as a responsible man (father) you should be able to control yourself no matter the circumstances.
Rukky Sandra wore a very stupid leggings to an event recently. I was like *********

3) From the story so far, if it's true which I believe, the girl isn't properly brought-up by her mother (immature/ dull).
The story is incomplete.
-Is she the last born?
-Is she the only female child?
- Is the father's wife her real biological mother
- Is she a product of a broken home?
- Does the mom and dad share separate rooms?
- who spend most time with her at home
-Does the mom live with her father.
- how many times has her father slept with her?
- does the father show any kind of remorse/guilt?
- Is her father mentally sound because I saw something like counselling in the story
- her relationship with her father's wife (mother) good/bad?
-( sleeping on her father's chest) there should be a boundary. is that done openly or within close doors?

Until one is certain about all this, it ll be difficult to come up with the best advice or solution.
Once the third party (e.g friends, relative, pastor/imam) knows about it; it continues to spread and portrays bad image about her(her sisters) than her(their) father. I.e stigmatising her {and her sisters if any} because no MAN with a sense of belonging will ever marry a molested girl).

4) From my past years of experience of human psychology.
"It's possible for the biological father/mother/relative to be doing such.
The did has been done, Telling her mom the story will only add more insult to injury so it should be settle on a lowkey. ( lack of TRUST )

Asking about her biological father from her mom will make matter worse since the deed as already been done. Its like medicine after death.
How would you feel if your kids ask such a silly insulting, embarrassing and annoying question?
Do you think the mother will ever tell the truth.
Leaving the house isn't the solution ( ori bibe koni ogun ori fifo - meaning cutting your head doesn't cure your headache.
A Segun Osewa won't be her father.
None of us can give fatherly care like her father (blood is thicker than water).
The only solution so the story is incomplete is that there should boundaries.

Finally, the blames goes to the mother. The mother should be blamed.
She is so naïve, nonchalant and insensitive.
She should have curb the excess before going that far.
I'm quite sure, no father ll allow such an intimate relationship with her wife.

So I ll say it the careless of the mother;
My advice to all aspiring mothers and mothers is protecting their female wards can best achieved by them ( female child interaction with the society)
The mother should know there is a limit to every thing.
A female child is more complex (extra care/fragile/weaker vessel) as compared to a male child
Travel / Re: You want to COME TO AMERICA - Do You REALLY Know America? by stede(m): 6:58am On Oct 05, 2013
adeaugustus: There are three categories of Nigerians living abroad, and each of these categories has different view/perspective about America.

LOTTERY GUYS:
This category are not prepared for anything, they got luck, borrowed some money and got shipped of to the US, most of them don't have a college degree, the ones that do are B.SC holders (FYI Nigeria first degree is total bullsh.i.t abroad, not only in US, it has value only if you desire to further your education) this lottery guys finds it difficult to survive, they pick up menial jobs, and work their ass off, the young ones work as hard as they can to earn a living, impress family back home, and probably go to a community college (that comes after 3-5years of hustle), while the older ones, with their Nigerian wife and probably two kids, find it hard to send their kids to school (this kids turn out to be a pain in the butt later on), monitor them and make a decent living, the wife take some courses and becomes a CNA (certified nurse assistant), the husband, well...often they start drinking, get involved in some bad stuff and I don't have to tell you how bad that ends, they eventually divorce their wife, forget their kids and damn the consequences.

Smaller percentage of them would consider going back to school, they attend classes with their kids age mate and at the end of the day, the find it difficult to secure a job (even in Nigeria, when you're older than 28yrs, entry level job is not available for you anymore) this category of husband would leverage on their foreign degree, come back home and become a politician or get hired by some company (you never can tell). take note that the scenario is not only peculiar to Nigerians, it's peculiar to almost all immigrants from developing or under-developed country. Some immigrant do make it, but check the data, only a small percentage of young, brilliant and vibrant immigrant gets their foot on the ground within a reasonable period of time.

THEIR PERSPECTIVE: They would tell you America does not worth it, they would go to any length to discourage you and stuffs like that.

MORAL: What we see is not always what we get. Never count on luck for success, although luck might come in one way or other, know for sure that proper planning and preparation is the major factor.

THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: Often this category smuggle their way into the country, they have no SSN, no address, no phone number, as far as the United States is concerned, they don't exist. They applied for visitors visa, overstayed the period on their visa and do other unimaginable stuffs, this category of people, end up in sham marriage, (VISA/PAPER THINGS), the supposed wife knows what they are passing through so she frustrates the hell out of them, at least until their paper is ready. They end up having kids they are not ready to cater for, take note that before they get their paper done, they're illegal and cannot work, so they find it difficult to feed themselves, these are people that have decent jobs back home, they choose to resign from their job and suffer in a foreign land.

Some get lucky, they get their paper done, divorce the "AKATA" and move on with there life (provided there is something to move on to), if they're older than 35, life is very tough for them, college degree = 0, no work experience, no family ties, no connection, just them (you can only imagine). Ok. If they're not really old, they can fit the pieces together, probably get a part-time job and educate themselves with tax payer's money (This is very annoying). It takes almost half a decade before this category of people get their act together, even when they do, they would look back and scream "had I know" when they imagine the kind of life they would have lead back home.

THEIR PERSPECTIVE:
USA is bad, but if you can hustle, hustle like madt, then you will make enough to survive, but don't ever think you will make it big, never!!! just enjoy life while it last.

MORAL:
It's good to make early decision about what you would like to make out of your life, if you have a solid plan, you would never change course at 30!! never, migrating when you're above 30 shows that you're not sure of your destination, before it used to be a fool at 40, bro and sis, now it's a fool at 25. So make hay while sun shine.

STUDENTS:
Right now, US education is top notch, and don't EVER compare it to that of Nigeria, some people get lucky to attend US institution, if your parent is rich enough (especially as an undergrad), then you won't have problem, but don't ever think you can work your way through undergrad, am sorry, life would be more than difficult for you. The short version is: If you don't have enough money in your account, don't contemplate about studying in US, the non-traditional student i.e. those that come from foreign country, they are obviously in their 20's they get to meet more people in college, make the best out of their life (that is IF their father is not a politicians ooo), so they find it very easy to blend in into the civilized society after their degree, some get an employer to file for them, while other take some other route to become a legal resident.

They get a job, and live an average life (Average American live = Rich Nigerian Life). After some years, they get their act right and before you know it, they're doing well, contemplating about moving back home to do something big. For those that are in graduate school, they have a well defined goals, they don't find it difficult, often they get to stay back and struggle with the waves and it later becomes an happy ending for them.

THEIR PERSPECTIVE:
This category would not complain about how "BAD" America is, they would let you know that it's hard but not impossible. frankly that's the best advice you can get, it's hard everywhere, and the world is for those that would attack issue as they come.

TO THE OP.

1. Everybody build or buy house on loan, so don't use that against America, you should rather be happy that some financial institution is ready to buy you a home and allow you to pay later on.

2. Car is more of necessity than luxury, if you need it you buy it, if you don't then no Poo

3. Don't rely on people, everybody is trying to survival, when life hit you hard, don't ever expect your "brother" to take the hit for you, no! learn to survive on your own.

4. Be positive and don't join the lazy black ass niggas, you're a Nigerian, rapping and becoming an NBA star shouldn't be your priority.

5. GET AN EDUCATION.... THAT IS THE MARGIN BETWEEN THE BLACKS AND THE WHITE. check grad schools statistics, the percentage of blacks in grad school is nothing to write home about.

6. Be Yourself and forget about the "rat Azz accent"

7. Don't join "stewpid" community of Nigerians in US, don't choose abroad daddy and mummy, brothers and sisters, associate with them only if they're successful.

8. GET THIS INTO YOUR SKULL: Higher percentage of successful blacks don't want to associate them-self with you if you're not yet successful, don't be disappointed if you're not welcomed.

Honestly, you have spoken so well.
I took my precious time to know views of my fellow country men; YOU HAVE SPOKEN NOTHING THAN THE GOSPEL TRUTH.
Let me just add few thing to what this intelligent dude said

1). for those thinking of coming back to Nigeria; if you don't have political affiliation and connections(David Mark; Tinubu; iwela; madukwe; Obasanjo; Maku; Fashola Ameachi and co ) you story gonna be from grace to grass.
So ensure so save very well atleast 20million naira so you can set up a business when you return home.

2) For young nigerians aspiring, I'll never discourage you; stay focused; be ready to WORK ROUND THE CLOCK, and if God help you, you are kinda educated; you gonna hit your doe.
But for old folks (35+) I don't think it worth the stress because it's like starting from the scratch again.

Moral lesson, the difference between Nigeria and state is that you need connections for almost everything in Nigeria while in US you don't need to know any political affiliation

Romance / Re: What Are The Reasons For High Level Of 30 Years+ Single Ladies In Nigeria? by stede(m): 6:44am On Mar 02, 2013
lastpage: She finished SS3 when she was 18yrs

Due to "incomplete Result and Jamb wahala", she eventually gained University admission when she was 20years. Not bad.

Student Riot, Lecturer's Riot (Senior and junior Staff Union of ASUUU grin ) all extended her school calendar by 2yrs, over a six year period.
By the time she graduated, she was 26years!

Then the school did not compile result on time and she could not go with "batch A", so she wasted another six months and went for NYSC batch C!
by the time she finished NYSC, she was clocking 28years!

Being the eldest in her house, she cant just ignore her siblings, so she promised to look for work so she can help out a little.....and you know, job scouting in Nigeria is man-know-man, even with a good grade (over supply of Graduates without adequate industrial and infrastructural base). The jobs are just not many anymore

So she was 30years by the time she eventually landed that one-man business that pays her a miserly 45K monthly!

To compound the matter, the man she wanted to marry, her lover-boy from Jambito-days has vowed that he would not marry unless he lands a good job that can cater for his family (wife and children to come) and even then, he is not the type to look up to his spouse for "handouts".
Good man, thats why they call you "man of the house". wink

Well, his own job was not forthcoming that quickly and "his sweetheart" is clocking 32yrs now!

Wetin make she do? marry herself or what? What has she done wrong, please tell me?

All l am trying to say is that, the fact that a lady is 30+ yrs and not married, does not mean she is aiming too high or is digging for Gold or still playing around (l know some do wink) but by constantly nagging her or staying on her neck and reminding her of that "Biological Clock", you're probably doing her more harm than good.

Dont forget we live in a society where everybody is O.Y.O (on your own) and you have to look properly before you dive! ...less you land on a hard rock! grin

if it were "abroad" (l hate to use this kind of example!), apart from the fact that jobs are being created actively EVERYDAY by their own govt and the "infrastructures" are there (stable power, secondary industries, e.t.c) to go into private or self employment, the govt also assists in a way that even non-working peeps can start a small family while they grind-out their job-seeking options.

Again, dont forget that Money (or lack of it) is the root of all evils.
Nothing breaks a family quicker than when the basic things of life are not being met, especially by a man who was not ready for marriage (financially) but had to marry his lady who was clocking 33+ (God forbid! grin ), when she would not let him rest till they get married.

Summary: Leave them alone, everyone has his/her own time and clock.
Its the end that justifies the means. Our Mothers situation is not the same as the times we are now.

Back then, even as late as 1984, my eldest brother who graduated from Unilag Computer Sc. had three job offers, (RT Briscoe, Leventis, First Bank) all with a brand new Peugeot 504 Saloon car in-tow, begging for his signature, even before going for NYSC (they want him to serve and work with them afterwards)...
... not the current "Dangotte graduate driver scheme" peeps have to be facing now! angry angry Dude was riding two "tear-rubber cars" within one year of Graduation (as old man honored his first graduate son with a car as well!) ...and he is just an ordinary Graduate from an ordinary middle-class, working family.

How many Graduates are that fortunate like that since 1999? grin grin

Times have CHANGED.

Lastpage!
You ve spoken so well.
There are two things involved why some are still single @ 30+

{1} 25% have lived a very wayward life during their early twenties
{2} 75% Personal issues
