Nice to see someone doing very good, welcome uche and that's a nice one, the exercise is quite good but the food is not good at all. If I may ask, how did you "push" yourself in the last two months as you stated.

Thank you so much hour glass. When i said push myself i simply meant watch what i eat coupled with little exercise which consisted mostly of long walks. Right now i want to begin to exercise proper to achieve even greater results.

Yesterdays logs
B- quarter bowl of soup with a piece of meat
snack- five pieces of cube sized water melon
Lunch- two servings of yam porridge and fish (I didn't finish it though)
Dinner- Two pieces of suya i took from a colleague wink

water- 3 litres(The frequent visit to the rest room is not funny oh! i always try to calculate when i drink water so that when i am pressed i will not be on the road but yesterday, i made a mistake or rather traffic caught me at an unusual hour and u needed to have seen me grin

Exercise- 500 skips (the aches have subsided very well)

My most challenge is dinner. Lunch is served in the office at 1pm and most times i don't eat till the next day cos i get home like 10pm and its then too late to eat anything( House please any help in this area?

@chamber 2

Thank you so much for your invaluable counsel. I would inquire further on the unilag pgd/masters programme. I do not do badly in calculations at all and always wanted to do acca right from when i was in uni. However, the bsc accounting thing just recently ignited my passion for acca. Sincerely, i love litigation a lot and therein lies my strongest passion and i can not really see myself as a corporate lawyer just that at times the thought of this 3rd class weighs me down badly. I have never been an average student from childhood till university and there is still a deep inner cry to still prove myself. Right now i want to change my job but the very few firms that pay higher than my present one are hard to enter and to be sincere i am scared about venturing out. I think i have to be courageous and trust that the God that led me thus far can still take me to the next level. THANKS ONCE AGAIN!

I want to be a lawyer and am planning on doing a masters in law in the nearest future. A s for now, i can not run a masters programe concurrently with my present job and as you have always advised, experience is still way better than getting a masters. Moreover, i have some friends who did their masters and came back to start the job search thing all over again. That is why i am considering doing acca since i can choose the number of courses i can take at a time and read on my own while attending lectures weekends.

BTW masters in law in unilag is full time and as i earlier stated, i work from 8am to 10pm.

So grateful for ur reply. Thanks.
Career / Career Counsel Needed Pls! by uche13: 4:20pm On Sep 06, 2011
Hi everyone, please i need a little bit of counsel and advice here. This is my story.

I am a lawyer and graduated in 2008 with a third class due to many reasons details of which isn't very important as every body in this condition always has a story genuine or not. However, i decided to enter the law school with a fresh start and put all the disappointments of the university behind me. God being so gracious, i made a 2:1 at the dreaded bar exams. I did my NYSC with a reputable law firm, luckily for me or rather due to Gods favour, i was the only corper among the other 4 corpers who was not asked of her university degree. The others had to submit their c.v, write interviews before been employed as a corper. During my service year, i put in my best in the firm and was doing the job of lawyers with about 5 years experience. My hardwork and diligence was not unnoticed as i always received complimentary remarks from my colleagues and my boss once in a while even though the firm is basically a no-nonsense place where nothing but hardwork is acceptable. The only issue was that the firm wasn't an easy place to work and as a corper i had to work from 8am to 9pm and at times 10pm sef. I was retained in the firm and the salary isn't so bad as opposed to what obtains in the law industry. I have been working there for about a year now and i am not doing badly on my job. I have been recommended several times on my work performance and my confidence level has really soared but most times whenever i think of my university grade i still feel badly hurt. I feel so glad that i have been able to conquer my immediate environment but at times i feel stuck. My firm has so many problems even though the salary is good and many people who come in always tend to leave after a while to a better work environment. However if i am leaving i can not go beyond the standard of my present firm and i feel that my university grade will be a limitation to secure a better job in a place where i am not known. Also the trauma of graduating with a third class sets in deeply at times though i am still grateful to God as so many of my mates with better grades are still in awe at the way my life has turned out now. As a friend rightly said, i feel like a crippled lady who is dating a good looking guy and feels so unworthy of his love to the extent that though he treats her badly she still stays out of fear of finding another relationship due to her "disability". Everybody expects me to be happy and grateful since i never had to look for a job, have never attended an interview neither am i working and earning a pittance but i know it could be better. I am presently thinking of doing acca and getting that oxford Brooke's bsc degree in applied accounting and struggle hard to see if i can make a good grade that at least will cover up for my law degree so that in case in the nearest future i am applying for a job outside the legal profession that requires a minimum of a 2:2 i wouldn't be disappointed.

Pls any advice or information as to the genuinity of the oxford brookes thingy or if it is recognised in Nigeria will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I am really trying to fathom the reason for your last post and i cant find any logical one. I was only trying to clarify Glamourgal since from ur previous post i detected that you were not in tune with the new curriculum taking place now in law school. I made reference to the courses presently been offered and also went further to state that its basically the same as the old subjects just with a little bit of changes. I explained further that law school is now more practical unlike the era of dictation of notes and plenty theory. Also, i pointed out that the time table has also changed and lectures are now from 9-1:30pm unlike what you stated. I had to enlighten the poster because if she enters law school with the mindset ur previous post indicated then she will be surprised as things are a lot different.

I therefore didnt see any connection with ur post or ur meeting with even the DG of law school. Never did i even indicate that any lecturer will teach you all the tricks of the law school or whatever it is u were referring to at the latter end of your post. For the records too, i am not a law school student but also a lawyer like you but who had the "priviledge" of being one of the guinea pigs of the new curriculum.

@Triaophant i am sure u went to school a while ago. Anyway, law school has changed its curriculum and things are a bit different now. Firstly the courses you will be taking in part 11 are criminal litigation, civil litigation, property law, corporate law and law in practice. They are bsically the same with the former courses but just that what you will be doing now is basically practical.

The time schedule is also a bit different. It is from 9am to 1:30pm with 30 mins break in between. The period of copying notes is also over as this is the era of "do it yourself" so no more note taking. Depending on ur campus, you will be put into different groups and you are to have group meetings etc.

Also if you are posted to lagos, the rules on dresings are a bit relaxed. You can carry different colours of bags and no one is bothered with the size of your earring wink

Good luck

I dont want to raise anybodys hope unnecessarily but i just want to chip in this information. I believe that letters will soon be sent because a colleague of mine was told by her auntie who works in cbn that she got the job but they r still processing letters. I believe this because the same woman told her about a week prior to her been invited for the interview that she passed the test and will soon be contacted. So people relax and keep hope alive.
Religion / Re: Who Are These Jehovah's Witnesses? Misconceptions, Likes & Dislikes About Them! by uche13: 11:19am On Jul 26, 2011
Ok let me start from what i like about them before going into the bad stuffs. Firstly, i like their passion, commitment and zeal in serving God. They are not like christians who have taken the Grace of God for a ride and an occassion to sin and ask for mercy later. But the truth is this, they have a lot of loop holes like any other people but i have found that they they have a way of reading scripture out of context to suit their confused belief. These are part of the horrible beliefs i cringe at

1. Jesus is arch angel Michael- Their reason is gotten from 1st Thess 4:16 and Jude verse 9 (how sad)

2. 144,000 people selected by "Jehovah" wil go to heaven while the rest will remain and inherit the earth because the bible says in Matt 5:6. My question is how will the 144,000 be selected and they say only God knows and i wonder y Jesus and the other apostles didnt specifically expantiate on this throughout the length and breath of the bible.

3. Jehovah will not punish man eternally over the few years he spent on earth because He is a merciful God- Sincerely i dont care so much about their other doctrines but i believe this is where the devil has succeeded in pulling a wool over their eyes for them to believe that since God is so kind, we can live any how without the fear of hell and rapture. This is just to say a few.
Crime / Re: Supreme Court Okays Death For 2 Robbers by uche13: 3:07pm On Jun 21, 2011
The law is very simple. Once u are armed while committing an offence e.g robbery it doesnt matter if you actually robbed the person of N1 as far as u were armed then the minimum sentence is Death sentence. It is a different ball game if u rob without being armed, so the fact in this case is not the sum in question but the fact that they were armed while robbing.

@demdem
I understand your point about the fact that its poosible that the organisers were compromised. Anyway, its still important for a person to do his own part to the fullest so when its time to cry prejudice u would have all the necessary backing. Lemme give u an example, there r times that it is obvious in a matter that the Judge is favourably disposed to the other party. We even see cases where the opposing lawyer tries every tactic in the book to frustrate the case of the opponent. This they do by either not attending court, not filing proceses within time etc just to anger his opponent.The solution therein is to be patient and cleverly play along with both the court and the opposing counsel and not to get angry and decide to stop attending court etc. If u do that then if u decide to appeal the case u have no basis. Or would a girl decide not to write an examination because she has been promised failure by a lecturer. I stand on my decision that the trio of Ribadu, Shekarau and Buhari just played into the hands of GEJ.
Politics / Re: Bon Presidential Debate:was It Ok by uche13: 4:15pm On Mar 31, 2011
The other three prominent candidates just shot themselves in the foot by their withdrawal from the BON debate. If GEJ absence from the NN24 debate was a ploy to anger the other candidates in order for them not to attend the BON debate which was a wider platform for them to sell themselves, then i must say that the strategy worked. Whilst not lauding the attitude of GEJ for not attending the NN24 debate, the question is how many Nigerians have DSTV or access to DSTV at home. Do those in the rural areas even know that there sth like dstv even exists. For those who own one, how many Nigerians (using Lagos as a case study) are at home at 7:00pm. The fact is that most people are at work with some stuck up in traffic. The debate yesterday was on all tv and radio stations around the country and even those who found themselves on the road had the opportunity to listen via radio.  You can imagine the millions of Nigerians who listened to GEJ sell himself to the nation with little or no interruption. When the man wins the election they all would then shout rigging wen they with or without knowing aided his win. Even minus the debate of yesterday, which of the other presidential aspirants have campaigned as much as GEJ. Though we laugh at Dame Patience Jonathan abuse of the English Language(which i find personally hilarious) how many of the wives of the aspirants have campaigned as much as she has done on behalf of her husband. When Political parties are ready to get rid of PDP  then we(Nigerians) will now

Politics / Re: Pdp Moves Against Salami by uche13: 4:53pm On Feb 25, 2011
If you do not know or are not knowledgeable about how our legal system operates why dont u humbly ask rather than resorting to name calling and showing your ignorance to the world. For the benefit of doubt let me enlighten you. Ask any lawyer around you to oblige you with these authorities and explain how it is used. Fawehnmi v. N.B.A (1989) 2 NWLR (Pt105) 558@621 the law states thus:

"Once a piece of evidence is relevant, it is admissible irrespective of how it was obtained"
Lemme even educate you further, the law even has this to say.

"It matters not how you get(referring to evidence); even if you steal it, it would be admissible"
So my brother, who is the mumu.
Politics / Re: Pdp Moves Against Salami by uche13: 1:06pm On Feb 25, 2011
The issue involved here is not how the call logs were gotten from MTN. The law is very clear in this regard and it simply states that it does not matter how an evidence is obtained. Even though illegally or if it was stolen, as far as it is seen to be relevant to the case at hand then the evidence will be admissible in court. The main issue therefore is if the tracing of the calls is able to prove the guilt of salami and his cohorts.

Im nt here to defend pastor chris or anything of the sort. I dnt care if he is a fraudster or anything u have labelled him after all christianity is personal. However i must keep on saying it that your language is terrible. If i wasnt a christian, judging by your personal hatred of the man and ur ungodly talk, i will never want to be part of the christianity thingy. Haba!!!. Are u peeps on a self declared war or what. We agree, the man is a fraudster, scamist, deceives people with messages of first fruit and even the devil and anti-christ himself, we have heard and agree. You have won the argument so please it is enough. Remember, this site is for everybody and people are reading and forming opinions about christianity so please be careful. Also remember, you may win an argument logically but it doesnt mean you have won that soul to Christ which is paramount(this is sth i learnt over 10yrs ago).

@Mabell
You were in him to know if he followed his emotions abi.Just give me one clear proof that it is not God that asked him to step out for a while. I know of a great woman of God who said that at a point in her ministry she noticed the same thing Francis chan noted. The Holy-Spirit clearly instructed her to step aside for about a year. During the period she never preached never led but was sent to work under another Pastor where no one knew her. In the process, the Holy-Spirit helped her deal with her issues and she is back to ministry.
Religion / Re: Pastor Vacates Church Because He Is Too Famous by uche13: 9:00am On Jan 26, 2011
@joagbaje, Azibazuala et al
Who exactly do you think a man of God is, do you think that he is immune to making mistakes and falling prey to the flesh. A Pastor is still human and subject to the same temptations and trials eery christian goes through, the only difference is that God holds him accountable for the souls under him.The question is not whether he should have allowed pride to set in or allowed the praise of people affect him or not, the issue is that he has admitted to his error and now wants to make amend.  I personally  find his action very commendable based on the fact that this is a sin that could have been clearly hidden after all it is not something people can easily detect and condemn him about like adultery, stealing etc but he knows who he is accountable to. I place him in really high esteem than some others who would have continued like everything is ok and then finally miss the mark. I think everyone not only pastors should take time out to examine ones spirit than to always be caught up with spiritual activities which does not guarantee a place in heaven. Many have exalted their position and hold it higher than their personal relationship with him. There are many pastors who are aware of some errors they have committed but are afraid to own up to their wrong because of the fear of what people may say and they thereby wallow deeper until their conscience gets seared. Remember the reaction of saul when samuel told him the kingdom has been taken from him and David when he was also corrected.
Religion / Re: Pastor Vacates Church Because He Is Too Famous by uche13: 7:09pm On Jan 25, 2011
@JOAGBAJIE
You are really incorrigible. When will you stop stupidly quoting scriptures out of context. So in ur learned position since we are ignorant, a man cannot go to hell if he deviates while fulfilling the ministry God has given to him because Gods gifts are without repentance. Who said Gods gift will take someone to hell , a man will go straight to HELL if he misses it while 'fulfilling his call" why do you think paul said in 1cor9:27", lest when i have preached to others, i myself will be a cast away". So u prefer him to have been smiling, preaching and doing plenty activities to please ur type when he knows he has some issues to settle within himself. For example, if a doctor who is called to take care of the sick gets ill too, what does he do? he simply takes sometime off , treat himself and then come back better in order to treat others. Does he stay put in his job attempting to treat others when he knows that he is not ok.How can he function effectively without getting healed himself. Please read the post again, the man is not running away but has decided to take sometime off. If he complained of being tired, discouraged etc then ur argument would have sufficed rather this blessed gentleman wants to do some spiritual checks and balances and u r complaining. After this, am sure he will return stronger and better.
Religion / Re: Pastor Vacates Church Because He Is Too Famous by uche13: 4:30pm On Jan 25, 2011
@joagbajie,mabell and Azibalua
i strongly disagree with your submissions concerning this issue. You are not with the man and therefore dont know exactly what his issues are. He never said he will not return to his ministry as a Pastor, all he wants to do is to take time out of the big scene probably do some self examination and evaluation and then return. He needs to check his spirit to determine if pride and arrogance has not set in. The fact that he doesnt preach on sundays doesnt mean he is not fulfilling his calling. Is it better for him to stay in church, preach and carry on as if everything is ok when exactly it is not or should he miss the mark after pleasing people. You need to understand that he is first accountable to God for his personal spiritual life and if he is not up to par, preaching and winning a million souls will not guarantee him a ticket to heaven. I t is clearly stated in 2 corithians 13:5 which states:
"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith, "
I am certain this man must have spoken to God and given the go-ahead by God before taking this decision

I really hope that someone will get to respond to this tomorrow as i consider it very important.
Religion / The Price Of Fulfilling Purpose by uche13: 11:54am On Jan 19, 2011
In order to fully walk in Gods purpose for your life i am aware that a price must be paid. Specifically when it relates to a definite call to minister or to walk in Gods purpose for our lives there is a process He puts us through. The process is not easy, neither is it rosy but victory and fulfillment is guaranteed at the end. Life cannot be meaningful if we do not fulfill our call or purpose, but for God to use us, all of us (will, desires, emotions) must die to the extent that we can boldly say as paul said in Gal 2:20 "i have been crucified with Christ, yet i live yet not i but Christ that lives in me, ". The fact that there is a desire to fulfill Gods call is certain (everything thing else seems empty), the problem is rather the fear of the process God will have to take us. Are we really ready to submit to God 100%, who knows what He would require of us, What happens when i make a mistake and have to be corrected. Every person used by God in whatever capacity had to "pay the price". As for me, it feels scary most times. Does anyone have a similar experience please lets rub minds.
Religion / Re: How Has Your Walk With God Been? by uche13: 9:28am On Jan 19, 2011
My walk with God has been so amazing. The surprising thing about God is the fact that he knows tomorrow, what i mean is that He knows when we are apologizing for sth we did today that we will still repeat it in the earliest future but He still lovingly forgives you and does not hold it against you. Oh what a God!!!. In our faithlessness He is ever faithful, His mercies keep us each day. Oh that everyone will experience His Presence, His power and His Grace. The beauty of being alone with Him, worshipping im with hands stretched towards heaven. The psalmist said that a day in His Court is worth a thousand years outside. I simply love Him. I have made mistakes, filled with guilt and avoided Him but He still waits and lovingly nudges me to repentance. I learnt a valuable lesson, if u make a mistake or u fall in any way dont spend time wondering how you got into the mess or be guilt filled to the extent of staying away from Him. Simply call out to Him for help immediately, ask for forgiveness and move on. This is because with every passing day it gets harder and before you know it the burden of starting all over will be enormous. God help us.
Politics / Re: Gani's Chambers To Shut Down Jan 15 by uche13: 5:23pm On Jan 18, 2011
I beg to differ with the position of majority of the posters. Let us not be sentimental because the person involved is Gani Fawehnmi but rather be objective in our reasonings. In as much as i respect the great legal luminary, he got this wrong. There must be continuity in whatever it is we are doing. Every success must have a successor. Its not possible that he could not raise and influence someone child or no child to be able to think and in short inculcate his value system into such a one all his life. There are many "Ganis" in this country which require a little mentorship to blossom. We are all talking about the fact that he didnt want anybody to rubbish the legacy and good name he left for himself then i say that if that was his mindset, he should not have bothered with having children. Lets leave the issue of business alone, maybe our parents shouldnt have bothered bearing kids cos of the fear that their children may spoil the great name that has been in their lineage for a long time. He should have better still killed all his children or order that they be killed so that none will tarnish his image in the future. So many things in life do not have guarantee and the best we can do is to do our part and leave the rest. What is the hope of the future generation if everybody lawyer or every business man decide to follow in his steps.
Religion / A Clarion Call To Pray For Nigeria by uche13: 1:39pm On Jan 17, 2011
In this forum, I am very much aware that we disagree more on topics than we agree. The reason for this is not farfetched bearing in mind that we are from different denominational and doctrinal difference is to be expected. However, there is one issue I believe we all agree on and that is the need for this country to move forward. We have complained, argued and said all sorts about our country but the time has come for Christians to take their position as intercessors and stand in the gap for this great country. The bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if My people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray that He will heal our land. There must be a burden in our heart for this nation to change. There must be an end to Religious violence and bloodshed, there must be an end to unemployment and lack of basic social amenities etc . Your heart must bleed for the victims of all the recent crises in this nation and this burden should lead towards our praying. I’m sure we all expect the best from this year, different pastors have tagged and prophesied this year on the 31st of December, 2009 to be the year of different good things but the bible says in Psalms 122 :6 that we should pray for the peace of  Jerusalem for in her peace lies our prosperity(peace). You can’t prosper in a violent country.  God said in Ezekiel 22: 30 which I quote “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land…”. Be available to God today. For those in the Diaspora you also need to pray. Remember that Nehemiah was not in Judah when he heard that the walls of Jerusalem were burnt. This did not make him relax but his passion for his country made him to weep, fast and pray for a change going to the extent of putting his own life at risk. Let us rise up and stand in the gap and I believe things will change. Please drop a prayer for Nigeria here.
Politics / Re: Gani's Chambers To Shut Down Jan 15 by uche13: 6:54pm On Jan 12, 2011
I dint also get this. Why cant any Nigerian business survive to the next generation the way we see it happen abroad. A mans business should outlive him. Any man without a successor can not be said to be a true success. The issue with our dear country is the sentiments we attach towards issues like this. Who said Ur children must take over Ur business. If none of them are competent, simple get an outsider who you believe is in tune with Ur vision and let him continue on with Ur legacy. Imagine explaining to his great-great grand kids the kind of legal luminary their great father was without any chambers to show for it. Its sad and i personally feel pained.
