Hardware requirement for ECC6

250 GB Hard Disk (Minimum)
P4 or equivalent
2GB RAM (Minimum)
Windows 2003 Server (To avoid formating your system, you can install on VMWare)

Thanks Mate - I once read on another site that the SAP With IDES takes up at least a minimum of 300 gig and also requires a 4gig of ram to run without lagging.

which installation wouldu recommend SAP with or without IDES my focus at first would be BW


any where advice would be welcomed. The other question is their a career map that specificies which module to study depending on one IT background. My background is Technical software testing using automation tools but would love to move into SAP.

My joy knows no bound as i finished reading all the post from page 1 to 28. I stumbled into this forum about a month ago, completely ignorant of what SAP is all about but now, my head is full with knowledge. I want to  say great thank you to all the guys who have made this forum worthwile. @kiwi, @markos, @felix,@sappie,@scoppio, @nnah and so many to mention, i salute you all for your selfless contributions. Comming from electrical engineering background, i have decided to go for SAP PLM and i can take it up from there. my advice to anybody who want to learn SAP is that get the materials and procure the IDES for day to Day Practice.

Well, you can have it in an external USB hard drive of minimum of 250GB. Then we will install it for you there, so, you can move along with it and practice anytime anyday. Also, you can have SAP ECC 6.0 in DVD's format and install it in your system. You will have the guideline on how to go about it. Note that your System must have a minimum of 250GB empty space. I believe having it in the external USB hard drive will be much more convenience for you. Do you have ECC 6.0? If you do, just practice with it as it is exactly the same with SAP SR on the production sites apart from data differences.

If you are already comfortable on ECC 6.0 for your module then no worries at all.
