In my opinion, if you want to venture into SAP, find the module you are comfortable with and start from there. Business One and A1 are a piece of cake when you understand a core fundamental module. B1 and A1 are prconfigured solutions and even though the sizes of companies implementing in nigeria will mainly require that, but it is better to have a proper grasp of a core module(s), before sidelining into those. Also note that if B1 and A1 is all the SAP knowledge you have, u may have a lot of limited choices.
Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 1:57pm On Jun 06, 2010
pls when you put your email address for the academy, pls mention the module you are interested in. thnx.

Re: About Sap? by AbusM(m): 7:27pm On Jun 06, 2010
@ Sappiel, I see no reasons at all for such statements you made on your post refering to seing or knowing me? Everything we 've shared and mentioned here so far have basically be grounded to SAP and nothing personal. I do not think i have in any way asked anything private from you, All hustles and drives here have been towards being a dream professional.

I have in principle helped people out on other subjects here after meeting them one a-piece so i do not share your sentiments at all. Your first line almost made it appear like people doing stuff here are in all irresponsible.Common what's all that? For you to have been domiciled in the Uk should at least being a plus to your social reasoning I'm only a bit surpised at how we interprete statements and situations sometimes.

You have been so instrumental to my SAP journey and to the overall contributions on the SAP subject here, I'm just totally disappointed how you have succeeded in handling me a bitter seed in the end. It's not just nice or wise to let your hands or tongue have the better part of you. Relax!

I'm sorry if any letter or word here would hurt but ladies and gentlemen, where have I gone wrong here?.

Madam na wa for you oh>>>>

@Alutaa, ok i will try that or use usendit, will let you know when it's uploaded.
Re: About Sap? by Puvguy: 9:44pm On Jun 06, 2010
^^ You are not faulty in anyway from what I read in your previous post. Though you were a bit forward in wanting to see her which gave the impression that you are after something other than SAP benefits.
However her response was more shocking and irresponsible. Period.

Lets get back to topic.

There's always a way to reject or avoid something you dont want to do diplomatically.

I could understand the enthusiasm in Abu$'s msgs just to see her mentor or someone he looks up to in SAP related issues and currently working on a project very close to him probably to share ideas.

Sappiel's response was bang out of order IMHO as well as unprofessional.

Guy, just ignore and move on,you are probably going to meet more intelligent and versatile people here anyway.

now that we all know that sappiel's comment was rude and unprofessional, can we get back to the topic?
Thank you
Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 6:01am On Jun 07, 2010
I am sorry if my response to Abu$ was offensive to the rest of you, who obviously hadnt noticed that this invitation had been on for a while. In what other way can i refuse? but unfortunately I stand my ground. All said and done, at this point I think its time to take a bow. Enjoy your thread, and I wish you all the best. Now i understand why most of these threads have very little or no female participants. Good bye and good luck. Markos, Ehiagwam, winneijay and a few others, I will intro u to another naija site i know, with a lot of interesting ang and informative threads on SAP.
Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 6:48am On Jun 07, 2010
And to those who were quick to respond without reading the previous posts by abu$, or previous posts where i indicated that i was too busy to socialise, when someone asks you for your address and phone number, s that personal or not? or if someone tells you that it is only married women who refuse invitations, is that personal or not? but you all dont think those were 'out of order'? I think ive made my point.

Just stay above any petty exchange.

You could have just ignored the cat calls from the random guy that you can't even see. That is easier than offering to take the guys with the most information with you.
Its understandable why kiwi992 left and its understandable why you want to leave. Just in case you have that much influence, pllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeeeee don't take away the other guys with so much real information that are left on the thread so that the rest of us can learn "About SAP?".
Meanwhile, you don't have to leave the forum, you can just ignore the dude. I swear to God, its not that hard.

@All, thanks alot for your thoughts, but i need you all to help apologize to Sappiel, though i do not know anything bout her other than her SAP instinct, but that is one person i still respect here. Please Help talk to her, humans are made of issues and challenges, this shouldn't be a reason for her to back off, please join me in bringing her back!

@ Sappiel, I like you to know I'm in all a gentle man. I hate offending fellow men talk more of a lady. I have been hurting lately and i guess that was what made me respond to your post, ordinarily i would have acted like you never posted nothing. I'm sincerely sorry Madam please forgive my anxiety and all. You led me to SAP Oil and Gas, now I have almost all the materials, thanks to your encouragement.

I really do not know what to say to you, but believe me, you are far too kind to be made angry. Please forgive all responses, lets get this over with. We need you in please.

So all, i would be uploading all IOG materials I have for others to share.

Peace

Think we should all forget about the bickering, this forum was started to inform Nigerians and others who were interested in seeking a career within SAP, it has been a good source of information so far, I am sure many have taken the professional certifications and started a career based on information in here, i have received a lot of emails from users asking about SAP, though i dont mind, i rather prefer sharing the information in here, some users have added me to msn messenger, once again i dont mind, but when users start asking to meet up, that i mind a bit, i dont have to meet anyone i dont know, dont think anyone should take offence, If we happen to meet working for the same client, all the best, the internet is so wide, everyone has to be assured of their safety, i like to believe everyone has good intentions in here but at the same time a user has the right point blank to refuse to meet someone they meet on these type web forums, end of the day, its a web forum!!! I am sure the likes of Sappiel was receiving too much invitations, a hint been, she said she was so busy with her project, that should be enough for the wise to show she rather keep the SAP forum strictly professional, I am sure the other fellow had no ill intentions, but she made it clear, she was not interested in meeting people she hardly knew!!! i just felt the person went on and on when it was clear, i think a personal mail to her inbox could have done the trick, but still she has reserves the right to say No!!! well no offence intended to anyone, that is my thought about this whole drama!! i think Sappiel should stay in this forum, she amongst others have helped to kick start someone SAP career, lets put it down to a misunderstanding and move on from there,at the same time, let us be clear, this thread is ''strictly professional'' and we should leave it that way, linkedin is a good way or professional linking up with people with the same careers!!

Re: About Sap? by tundebabzy: 11:13am On Jun 09, 2010
@kunleSAP
if you went through the thread you should have seen the advice that it is best to choose a module based on your professional competency. ABAP might not be suitable for you since you don't have an IT (programming background). Since you have gone through the whole thread, you should just choose the ones that relate to your competencies. You have a degree in Business Admin so just choose a module that relates to what you like e.g if you like HR, go for the HR module. You can google SAP modules to learn more.

If you are doing this simply because you could be getting bigly paid, its not as easy as that judging from other people's experiences on this thread. I'm not a SAP professional.

Please don't waste so much money trying to get certified, cos certification is no automatic guarantee for a sap project.
Trust me when i say there are those in Nigeria that have been certified for years but have had no luck in being involved in any sap implementation, well then again there were and presently are just few going on now, I know about NNPC and the rumored Dangote group implementation. Others right now are just sap support roles (Chevron, multilinks telkom, shell, total, etc)

My advice is to do a self study with sap authorized (not some written by a different author) and current materials on your specific module , download the sap gui and pay for subscription to a sap server.
then register for the exams for $500 or less (not sure of the current amount)
But if u want to get certified by the classroom method, u can still get certified with =N=590,000 from new authorized sap training centres like New Horizons, Computer Warehouse Group and one other one i have forgotten about smiley, they commenced late last year
the 2nd method u save 1million naira cheesy

Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 8:03am On Jun 11, 2010
thanks Ade mark. This is exactly what I said a couple of months ago, i.e about self study, and how to download study materials from the internet, however, some ppl still prefer to attend a tutorial. I guess it may be easier for them. All said and done, the good thing is that now ppl have options they can excersise. your personal server, you can get for abt N50k, that way you dont have to log onto the internet or depend on someone elses server issues. with ur ECC6.0 server, all u need is a 350gb hard drive (i.e if you want to partition your drive and also use the computer or laptop for other things) or a 220gb drive if you want to use it for a server alone. with this, or the way ademark suggested, you can practice and simulate scenarios.
On the issue of certification, it is true that it is not a prerequisite for getting a job, but i personally recommend that you get certified, because a lot of people are venturing into SAP now, and that will definitely sooner rather than later, be a differentiating and selecting tool in the hiring process. In addition, certification exposes you to a broader view of your chosen module which you definitely need in your interview, this information, you definitely will not have if you read up or gloss over the basics. Also, as a certified consultant, SAP allows you to use the logo on all your interests, use the SAP marketplace, which you most certainly need if you are consulting, and lastly, the only thing that can earn you the SAP job either as a consultant or end user, is experience. So as a hirer, who would u hire between the inexperienced, non certified, and the inexperienced certified?
