@ogazi007
Puyol as your primary left back for the season is simply asking for drubbings in la liga. Offensively, he would have to  make 180 degrees arse turns to deliver crosses as he is right footed. cheesy
I havent seen Caceres at LB so cant comment on him, but I doubt he is better than abidal, and anyways he is rumored to  be going on loan to zaragoza.
Of all your current options. abidal is still the best at LB, and moreso you need puyol for depth at CB.
You are not ready to pay €11m for filipe, but think you can outbid chelsea for the €20m rated Bruno Alves undecided
You talk of an affordable rate, but can you think of one alternative of comparable quality that would come cheaper?

I am starting to suspect that Barca are hinging all their other transfers on the eto-villa deal, a deal I still dont get what they intend to achieve by it.
Its one thing to show interest in Villa simply to drive the price up for madrid, it something else to buy him at that inflated price.
Selling Eto for less than €30m, and buying Villa for €40m+, just seems like a bad deal. I dont see Villa as being €15m better than eto (if at all)
Now Laporta is playing innocent saying eto is not picking his calls. What was he expecting, given the way he and pep have treated samuel? undecided
I hope eto simply sees out his contract and moves on for free

Abidal has never delivered a useful pass since he joined barca and yet we have been winning most of our matches, our LB must not necesserily do the crossing,he only need to sails the ball to henry/inesta and the ball will be bouncing in the oponent 18 yrads box.

its a mere rumore, the guy is styaing for good.he will do better than abidal if given enough play time this season.

yes!Brazillian Andre santos,we have all seen what he can do in the just concluded confederation cup.Roma bidded for 6m if we add 2m the boy would have multiple orgasm for being wanted by the best football club on planet earth.

Madrid had given up on villa since u opted for Benzema, really is he better than Higuain?inasmuch as i want to agree with u that samuel eto has been ill treated by barca,i think Eto can humbly leave for mancity, its obvious laporta and pep are not ready to better his existing incentives.he is my black brother,he deserves more respect from barca, how i wish thay can resolve this amicably, i like Eto alot

An untested player from the brasileros is your solution? undecided or did you miss the match against the US that he was taken to the cleaners, time and time again? All I have read are words from his agent claiming interests. The desired amount for Corinthians was said to be 6M, so I believe the deal would have been done if Roma had shown serious intent.
Until the guy proves himself in europe, he is not up for consideration.

Madrid were not trying to sell higuain cos we bought Benzema, while Barca are trying to sell eto so that they can buy villa. Villa is a great addition to any team, but should you sell eto just to buy Villa?

EXCLUSIVE: Barcelona To Sign David Villa From Valencia cheesy

Barcelona and Valencia have reached a deal that will see David Villa move to Camp Nou and are expected to make an announcement soon, Goal.com has learned.

A source close to Camp Nou has revealed exclusively to this website that the Spanish international striker has had his wish granted and he will join the European champions this summer.

Negotiations have been ongoing between Barça and Valencia and the Catalan club's president Joan Laporta even revealed that a bid had been made during a television interview on Wednesday evening.

Now Goal.com has been told that a deal has been struck and that Villa will be a Barcelona player, although no details of the fee or any of the Blaugrana's squad going in the other direction was divulged.

Laporta suggested that a offer of over €40million had been made and that, allied with los Che's new chief Vicente Soriano's promise to let the player go this year, has meant the treble winners have their man.

The arrival of Villa could speed up the departure of Samuel Eto'o, with both Manchester United and Manchester City linked with the Cameroonian striker, who was Barca's top league scorer last term.

Real Madrid opted not to pursue Villa after being told that he was not for sale and instead forked out a fee of up to €41million to sign Karim Benzema from Olympique Lyonnais.

@biina
Andre Santos might be unknown in Europe but barca is a home of young talented unknown players,we will dust him up and madrid would pay millions for him in two years to come, we make stars.S.busquet was unknown but u will agree with me that he has holds his own in europe and soon people will be reckoning with him, that is what barca can do to u.is better u sell higuain than to allow him waste his talent warming the bench,im trying some mental arithmetic on how ur formation would looks like next season, but i tell u is confusing,RAUL,C.RONALDO,BENZEMA,KAKA,HIGUAIN, pellegerini don suffer,
Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by biina: 7:20pm On Jul 09, 2009
Are you buying a starting LB to replace Abidal, or looking for a future prospect?
If it is the latter, I am sure there are enough talented players in Barca's youth system, that they dont need to buy an uproven 26yr old from Brazil who would likely be 30 before he can establish himself in the first team. Filipe is much better value.

Madrid buys stars because it is part of the clubs philosophy to have the best from all over the world playing for us every year and it works for us.
Barca have their share of buying stars, or were the likes of Ronaldinho, Deco, Henry, Eto and Dani Alves groomed at home?

@ Biina. Having a good footballing mind is one thing. Dealing with so many egos is another. Pellegrini has his work cut out for him.

I dont envy the guy at all.I hope they give him till the end of the season before evaluating his performance, and not give him the 'december boot' that madrid is so famous for.
The guy is essentially starting from scratch, unlike someone like Guardiola who inherited the core of his team from Frank.
Unfortunately, with madrid hosting the UCL final, his job will likely be tied to his progress in the tournament. The club and its fans will not take kindly to someone else lifting the trophy in their backyard.
In fairness to the management, they have been exceptionally quick with the signings (only outstanding player being Xabi) , and except for benzema communication shouldn't be a problem.
Without signing Xabi (or a CM of similar caliber), or Gago making a big jumping, the team will likely struggle.
Still, with a squad worth about $500 million, there is little room for excuses, and he would be expected to deliver the double (UCL + league) to retain his job.
Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by Krayola(m): 10:46pm On Jul 09, 2009
I know, man. Madrid has unrealistic expectations.  Barca too, but like u said, we already had the core of the team in place so ours are kinda justified. When Rijkaard took over the 1st half of the season was a disaster. Thank god we stuck with him though cause the second half was one hell of a ride.

I like Pellegrini alot, but it sucks that he now coaches Madrid because I now wish him the worst of the worst. i hope he gets hit by a loaded truck. He will do well if given time, but patience is not a virtue Madrid is known for. If Barca opens up a big lead by Christmas, the guy is history.
Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by ogazi007(m): 9:55am On Jul 10, 2009
They cant take it away from us, we are the first team known to have used 8 of our home grown stars to dethrone the champoins of europe.
the squad that ravaged MAN in Rome posed a serious challenge to madrid to look inward and pay more attention to their youth accademy, may be this would have reduced your finacial burden and makes the palyers to be more committed to the club.compounding debt just to sign big names is highly irrational to me.madrid should learn from treble barca, its not all about the cash, its all about the treble, lol

Yes o! The guy would have to find a way to please all the stars, the major prob would be the egos in the team, Raul is a major factor and has to be pleased and he always has a say in the team. Like i told biina before, if Barca leads the table in Dec, Pellegrini is history! considering he was third choice coach and I dont see him having the stern hand in the players affairs.

Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by biina: 4:38pm On Jul 10, 2009
@Ogazi
There is nothing wrong with the Madrid youth system. It has produced quality spanish players like Raul, Casillas, Lopez, De la  Red, Granero, Negredo etc. We just prefer to sell our players to top flight clubs where they would get first team opportunities, with the possibility of buying them back, as opposed to stifling their careers by holding on to them, like Barcelona is doing with kirkic or they did with Xavi (who had better prospects than Cesc)
At the recent U21 tournament, the spanish team had 5 player from the madrid youth system, while Barcelona had only 1. For the spanish team at the confederations cup, there were 4 products from the madrid youth system, while Barcelona had 6. So how does Barcelona's youth system become the model to follow?

Of the 8 players that you made reference to, only 5 (Messi, Xavi, Iniesta,  Puyol and Valdes) are in your first eleven, and the number would be less if your management could afford to buy the players they wanted like Villa, Ribery, Mata, Filipe, and Alves. Its funny that the last time you won the UCL, there were only 2 players from your youth system in the starting eleven  for the final. What was your club policy then? undecided
You should check out the Ajax team of 1995 before mouthing off about your youth player achievements.

Dont come online and try to extol Barcelona's youth system like if it was the secret of your success. Barca is like any other top european club, they would try to get the best players for their team with less consideration  for which youth sytem they came from. You should look through the hsitory of Barca and note how many foreigners you have signed over the years. Even in your golden era of early 90s, your team was dominated by foreigners with players like Romario and Stoichkov leading your attack. The youth system accolades are reserved for the likes of Sevilla, Valencia, and depor.

We dont have a problem with player loyalty, nor do we treat them like crap like you are doing to Eto. Even when not in the plan of the coaches, players rarely ask to leave Madrid. Madrid spends a lot of money buying the best players, yet we are the biggest and richest club in world. Barcelona or any other club would do the same, only if they could afford it, or is your president who hypocritically criticized madrid for buying kaka and Ronaldo not now trying to buy Villa for a price madrid felt was too steep for his value? Don't be an hypocrite by trying to criticize our business policies or were you complaing when the money was coming your way for the figo sale? Don't take it personal, but Barcelona just didnt have the quality of players we were looking for.

Yes o real good news,

Big-spending Real Madrid will begin their La Liga campaign at home to Deportivo La Coruna, it was announced today.

Madrid, who have already spent close to £200 million this summer on new signings Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol, will face Depor on the weekend of 29-30 August. It is the second successive season that Madrid have been paired against Depor first up, having last year been given an opening-day clash against the Galician side at the Riazor.

Madrid had not won in La Coruna since the 1991/92 season and it was a similar story last time out, with Bernd Schuster's side going down 2-1 - a sixth successive defeat at the Riazor for the Spanish giants and a 12th loss in 17 trips overall. Madrid, who are now under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini after he replaced Schuster's successor Juande Ramos earlier this summer, have a much better home record against Depor though, and have won 32 of 39 league meetings between the two at the Bernabeu.

Reigning champions Barcelona begin the defence of their Primera Division title on at home to Sporting Gijon. Last season, Pep Guardiola's side took just one point from their opening two games against Numancia and Racing Santander - the club's worst start to a league campaign in 35 years - but they bounced back to become the first Spanish team to win the treble of league, cup and UEFA Champions League.

Barça's match with Sporting is scheduled for Monday 31 August, as they must face Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Super Cup on 28 August. The first Clasico of the season between Barca and Madrid will take place at the Nou Camp on 29 November, with the return meeting at the Bernabeu is set for 11 April.

Arguably the biggest match of the opening weekend in Spain will be staged at the Mestalla, where Valencia host Sevilla. Two of three promoted teams must face each other, with Tenerife travelling to Real Zaragoza, while Segunda Division champions Xerez are at Real Mallorca.

Full opening weekend fixtures in Primera Division: Valencia-Sevilla, Real Madrid-Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona-Sporting Gijon, Malaga-Atletico Madrid, Almeria-Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca-Xerez, Racing Santander-Getafe, Osasuna-Villarreal, Real Zaragoza-Tenerife, Athletic Bilbao-Espanyol.

Deportivo's Filipe Luis To Make Final Push To Join Barcelona

Filipe Luis has made no bones about his desire to team up with Barcelona after three years of service with Deportivo La Coruna.

According to Sport, Filipe has returned from his holiday early to meet with Deportivo president, Augusto Cesar Lendoiro, and ask him to accept Barcelona's offer, believed to be in the region of €9 million.

The president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta, claimed yesterday that Deportivo were yet to respond to their offer, but Lendoiro said today that he has not been contacted by Barcelona chiefs yet.

Filipe, meanwhile, is still hopeful that Lendoiro will give him the green light to sign for Barcelona, telling Sport, "Today it will be all or nothing. I want to go."

Filipe Luis Left Out Of Deportivo Photo Shoot; Barcelona Move Imminent?

Barcelona could be given an opening to go for the kill and snap up Filipe Luis, after the attacking left-back was surprisingly left out of Deportivo La Coruna’s official pre-season photo shoot.

According to Marca, the Brazilian was inexplicably missing from the final group picture despite his club reiterating that they would not sell the player if the Blaugrana could not meet the asking price.

Filipe has already publicly declared that he wants a move to the Camp Nou, and his omission from the photo could suggest that SuperDepor may now be resigned to losing the 23-year-old at some point this summer.

The full-back - who spent one season on loan at Real Madrid B four years ago - did, however, train with the rest of the squad during yesterday’s session.

Depor are reportedly still holding out for a transfer fee of around €14 million, but Barca so far have only gone as high as €9m.
