D only way to recover ur files in Window 7 is so simple and d best...jus forget about all dis long storey.....install new window 7 in ur system (ultimate Recommended) on d process use upgrage..in other words it will not format ur c drive it will carry it to window old even at d same time repair ur C:drive .after d installation open C:drive look for windows old = my document u will c all ur files intact copy dem out with external hard disk..after u are through copying all ur important documents ...u can format ur system go giv it a perfect health..using other short cuts might warrant more damages if u are not an Engr on dis

Thanks you all that helped me.... i just opened my Lappy, located the two RAM Modules and clean it with mentholated spirit.


Iinserted in the first time and it didnt work, so i tried cleaning it again...


I then inserted it, powered on and my system went right back to where i left off!!!!

femi dont get me wrong!i was only talking from experience..as much as I.T is broad,you must have your specialised field.as a professional,im expected to have a atleast a little knowledge of hardware,networking,off-the-books skills to complement what i do and when it goes beyond me,i hand it over to my colleagues that are specialised in any of those fields...so if i were to ask a user(random),i'd first run an assessment on the person to be sure he can follow instructions and take precautions.

but 1st create a folder & put all in one folder.
there are a couple of apps that can do that, go on google an download filelock.
It'L lock ur that folder 4 U. Of-course usn d app is simple!

dude, no need 2 worry, 4m ur story, means ur sys had bn infected 4 creatn multiple shrt cuts.
I'L advice u meet an engr. he'L diagnose ur hard disk, tell U if its stiL in gud condtn or not or probably manageable 4 some couple of wks or mnt! He'L also help U back up effectively (dependn on au valuable ur files are, advice U on addtnal backup methods). Wipe ur sys. clean (best when it has started givn U shrtcuts), & install ur preferred O.S. also if ur an heavy internet user install gud spy/mal-wares.
That should do!

hmmm fon issues bro! i had a couple of doz mysef few wks ago!
I'L advice u 2 backup ur valuable files on d mem card to ur sys. then format d mem card again (ds xm usn full format- dat means u'L unchk quick format) & make sure d file-format on d format window is set to fat (not NTFS or FAT32). Do d format & put on ur fon (dnt copy back ur files yet!), let's c wot it'L giv U. It shud b resolvd i guess; but if not, now simply reformat 4m ur fon (now ds shud finally solve d misery). If not resolved lemme knw, U hv 2 more things 2 do!

instead of locking the folder(it would lock only personal files),u can use program protector to lock any type of application on your system

i have read alot of people asking you to format...not necessary!
METHOD 1:just find a clean system wit a strong up-to-date antivirus(kaspersky) then scan your memory card..it would automatically remove the .exe extension.
or
METHOD 2: on a clean system
1. Open Command Prompt (Start, Run, "cmd"
2. type the drive name(eg E
3. at the prompt E:\
Type attrib -r -h -s /S /D *.*

as for your computer where the HOST resides(any removable device u plug would be infected)..you can remove your hard drive,put it into an external hdd casing and scan from a clean system or if you have an antivirus rescue cd,use it to boot the system at starto

all4naija: It could be your RAM has gone bad or dirty. It could be the graphic adapter is bad. Or it could be that the screen is faulty, etc.

First replace the RAM to see if it works and if it doesn't work then look for a computer tech to help you with the solution.

i took d laptop to dr office, dy told me dat d motherboard is bad, dat i should paid 16k 4 d repair. D laptop maker is a WEDA ( china product i guess ). Hope d 16k is 2much ?

Evening, good people of Nairaland. I've a problem using an mtn fastlink modem I just bought on my HP mini 2102. The modem interface opens but the modem won't recognize any sim card, not even the primary sim card (this isn't an unlocking issue as I am not after that yet) I found out that there are some drivers missing from my system, and all my efforts to install these drivers proved abortive. I downloaded Driver.4.25.10.00 but I couldn't extract it to its appropriate folder... perhaps I didn't do some things right. I'll appreciate your sincere responses to get this problem resolved. It is a Huawei modem E303s-1. Btw, the modem works properly when I installed it on a friend's laptop.

Thanks for ur reply. The O.S is Window 7 starter. It's a new modem and it has never worked before though I tried Etisalat ZTE modem on it and it worked. Window update couldn't install the driver either.

Then, Select your Operating system (i.e window 7stater 32bits)
Click on the network drivers and select any missing driver for your laptop
