all4naija: Don't be offended at my opinion on this particular gun. I thought at first it was some toy used by Nollywood or SA movies studio. I don't see anything worth praising in this Halo-4-like game gun. And how exactly would a rifle impress you? The only way to be impressed by any rifle at all is to fire it, and compare advantages and disadvantages with other rifles you've also fired. Since you haven't fired this rifle, your point is useless. It means you just judged it purely based on the pic, which is like judging the handling of a car before you've even started the engine. I personally would feel embarrassed for making your comment, especially on a military forum. I was simply showing you the future direction in which the South African R4 rifle is headed, under Project African Warrior. I never compared it to anything, never said it was better than anything. You must be trying so hard to prove some sort of imaginary point. You say please call in Russia or U.S for help with modern weaponry? Ignore the fact that South African defence technology has been exported to the west....shame |

Saudi Arabia to purchase South African armed UAV's Saudi Arabia is buying an armed drone from South Africa after the Obama administration declined to sell the oil-rich kingdom U.S. Predator or Reaper missile-firing unmanned aircraft. The state-owned South African company Denel Dynamics is working covertly with the Saudis to develop the Seeker 400 drone into an armed combat system for the Saudi military, the Paris-based newsletter Intelligence Online reported March 27. The Seeker 400 is an advanced version of the company’s Seeker II unarmed surveillance aircraft. The newsletter stated that the Saudi military would be the first customer to purchase the Seeker 400 armed drone and engineers from Denel are in the kingdom as part of the secret program. If completed, the sale would allow Saudi Arabia to join the growing number of militaries that operate missile-firing drones—the most advanced weapon currently in use to launch precision strikes on terrorists. The new drone will be equipped with South Africa’s Mokopa air-to-ground missiles that are currently deployed on Algerian helicopters. The drone also can be outfitted with Impi laser-guided missiles with a range of 10 kilometers. The drones are believed to be sought by the Saudis for use against the terrorist group al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which is currently operating in Yemen and has conducted international operations against the United States. more at http://freebeacon.com/armed-and-dangerous/ |

Once again you show your foolishness. 13 on our side over 500 on there's. Seleka had a massive numbers of mercanries from Chad and sudan. Not farmers. They where armened with 23mm auto cannons, 14.5mm VHMG, 30mm AGLs, mortas, RPG7s. There main commander was a ex genrial from chad, the genrial in charge of the forces that fought the SANDF was a ex CAR officer that had been trianed by the SANDF. He had a good under standing of our doctrain. Yet we still killed over 500 of them. Most of our forces was light infantry up against technicals. The closet exampil is operstion irwen. |

. final proof : south african army was defeated by seleka rebels in CAR the videos posted by @patriot4 are the real true reports proving that south african army was defeated by seleka rebels of CAR in the battle that showed the disgrace of africa's 5th ranked military power, the republic of south africa. how do you know a true war report from a country like south africa that has long standing reputation for war lies, prpaganda and twisting of information ? the answer is to hear from neutral countries news reporters who are actually on ground and in direct contact with both sides of armies fighting the war, to give independent and unbiased report to the whole world, NOT dishonest south african news media publishing lies and self glorification. the videos below clearly says : south african army ran away from their bases like running deer south african army abandoned their uniforms like civilians south african army abandoned their combat vehicles like a gift to the rebels south african army is under french army protection at the airport like rats escaping from cats the videos did NOT say : how many soldiers died or wounded on both sides rebels raised a white flag of surrender, NO the seleka rebels rather celebrated their victory over the disgraced south african army with bottles of champagne in the photo under the videos below ! that is a good, fair, honest war report coming from news media independent and with direct contacts to the war zone. anybody posting other reports is a fraud and liar from his mama's womb south africa, accept your destiny, your military is NOT destined to be great in africa bitter truth, swallow it, live with it. because you will NEVER be able to match Nigeris's military combat records in this century, papa God no dash you, how you go take collect am ? by juju ? . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4VOSwvJtxM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF0gZ_Q8JQo

saengine: This so called All naija is very ignorant in every respect. I am convinced that he does not even know that throughout the entire Africa, SA ranks no:1 in terms of arms manufacturing and military technology. Propaganda or not, many developed nation from China to the state come to station here and learn a lot about SA military tech. China have even stolen SA intellectual rights and illegally imported some of SA technology to their country where they have even attempted to copy the tech of Rooivalk. People like should be thankful SA because they are putting the whole Africa on the map, aside them Africa would have been doomed. This was also admitted by Nigerian writer Chika Onyeani who wrote in his book Capitalist Nigger that SA remains the only country above Egypt to have played competitive role in Africa with regard to arms manufacturing to exchange blows with the likes of US and European giants. |

saengine: Still waiting for a reply from any Nigerian poster about the claims of Nigerian soldiers shooting civilians and burning their homes during the fight with Boko Haram (spelling). Let me guess, that was propaganda lies....since your professional army would never do that. yes, i prove you wrong, nigerian army did NOT kill the civilians, it was B.ooko H.raam secret bomb storage that exploded in their hide-out and it killed many people and burned many houses because they are built with dry grass/wood in that agricultural village location. no big issue, we in america just suffered another I.slamic terrorist attack last week in Boston City, USA, 3 dead, over 100 wounded, despite all the military power of america, the worlds number one rank. the news is all over the world on internet, BBC, CNN, DW, AFP, APP, REUTERS, VOA, etc. its not easy to detect civilians who live among ordinary people but turn to terrorists in 5 minutes and attack, unless you have magical or spiritual powers to read innocent looking peoples' minds before they commit terror attacks. it is NOT the job of military anywhere to detect secret civilian terrorists living disguised as ordinary people in the city before they attack, its the job of secret service intelligence agency and police, the military only helps to provice extra fire-power. if you dont know the difference between constitutional duties of secret service intelligence agency, police, and army, then you are a pure bred undiluted mugu dumb dullard . B.ooko H.raam is afraid of nigerian army, otherwise why dont they come out openly with all their weapons and challenge nigerian army to face to face one on one battle ? nigerian army will roast all of them in one day ! it is cowards or weaker opponents that do hit and run or hide and seek battle. in that battle, nigerian army lost 1 soldier dead, but killed 30 B.ooko H.raam fighers dead. that is the high combat competence and quality of nigerian army. no country in africa dares to challenge the great nigerian army ! here below is the answer to you south africans on the borno state, baga town civilian deaths "The Commander of the MNJTF, Brig.- Gen. Austin Edokpaye, has however claimed that only six civilians were killed and not the 185 widely reported by the media on Monday. Edokpaye, in a three-paragraph statement he sent to journalists in Maiduguri, also said that 30 thatch houses were burnt as against 2,000 which Baga residents told Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, when he visited the community. Edokpaye said the troops killed 30 Boko Haram gunmen and arrested five others. According to him, a soldier died and five others sustained injuries. He said “Contrary to media speculation that hundreds of houses were burnt, instead, it was the explosion from Boko Haram terrorists’rocket propelled grenade bombs, anti -aircraft guns and sophisticated IED materials that triggered fire to about 30 thatch houses in the predominantly fishing community.” He also said that three rocket propelled grenade launchers, two rocket propelled grenade bombs; four AK 47 rifles, 435 assorted ammunitions, seven quantities of IED material, and three Toyota Land Cruisers, were recovered from the sect members. The Borno State Government said on Tuesday that ‘over 100 people’ were killed. weblink source http://www.punchng.com/news/outrage-over-baga-borno-state-massacre/ .

agaugust: This I typical coming from a denialist fool like you and that General. Now your own Borno state Officials and a military General who took journalist around told another story. Authorities had found and buried at least 185 bodies as of Sunday afternoon, said Lawan Kole, a local goverment Official in Baga, he spoke haltingly to Borno State Gov. Kashim Shettima in the Kanuri language of Nigeria's Northeast, surrounded by still-frightened villagers. Officials could not offer a breakdown of civilian casualties vs soldiers and extremists fighters. Many of the bodies were burned beyond recorgnition in fires that razed whole sections of the town, residents said. Those killed were buried as soon as possible, following local Muslim tradition. Brig. Gen. Austin Edokpaye, also on the visit, did not dispute the casualty figures. Edokpaye said BH, used heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades in the assault. Extremist earlier also killed a military officer, the general said. Edokpaye said extremist used civilians as human shields during the fighting-IMPLYING That Soldiers Opened Fire In Neighborhoods Where They Knew Civilians Lived. Local residents who spoke to an Associated Press journalist who accompanied the Officials said "soldiers purposefully set the fires during the attack". Violence by security forces in the Northeast targeting civilians has been widely documented by journalist and Human Rights Activists. In a similar raid in Maiduguri, Borno State's Capital, in October 2012 after a military official were killed by extremist, saw "Soldiers kill at leat 30 civilians and set fires across a neighborhood". Casualty numbers in Nigeria are always murky, where security and goverment officials often downplay figures http://word.time.com/2013/04/21/officials-fighting-between-nigeria-military-islamic-extremist-kills-at-least-185/ http://word.time.com/2013/04/22/red-cross-at-least-187-killed-in-nigeria-violence/ Now stop trying to fool people here this is first hand from people in Baga. Nigeria's security forces is amongst the worst Human Rights abusers on this planet. If they were the best in africa and the most professional they would've let civilians first leave before the raid. This is typical of a ill disciplined force and a lack of respect by FG for muslims who they see as terrorist. |

saengine: Still waiting for a reply from any Nigerian poster about the claims of Nigerian soldiers shooting civilians and burning their homes during the fight with Boko Haram (spelling). Let me guess, that was propaganda lies....since your professional army would never do that. Baga is a small border town near lake chad. The casualty reports can never be as high as was earlier reported. ThisDay: The Multinational Joint Task Force (MTF) has clarified that contrary to several media reports, only six civilians lost their lives with about 30 insurgents killed in the crossfire between their forces and members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect at the border town of Baga, Borno State. The Commander MTF, Brig-Gen Austin Edokpaye gave this update Tuesday in explaining what happened on the encounter with Boko Haram at the weekend with reports that over 191 persons were killed, 10,000 rendered homeless while 2,000 houses were said to have been razed down. Baga cannot be described as a big town by Nigerian standards, since the thriving commercial town where fish traders from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, the CAR and Sudan converge for business, cannot be home to anything more than 30,000 persons. The figure of 185 is exaggerated. Again, if as has been stated elsewhere, 2,000 houses were destroyed that makes the casualty figure even more doubtful to me. If 2,000 houses were destroyed it follows that every house in Baga has been destroyed. Baga is not a big town – it is just a thriving spot with a lot of traders and merchandise passing through. The army would not just turn on nd fire at un armed civilians. It is not just possible. The story of 185 civilians killed is cooked up balderdrash. The nigerian army is a highly trained, competent force. |

Like I had earlier said, battling home grown insurgency is no easy task. Go ask the russians, pakistani's, turks. The sort of war fare requires constant re-strategising to deal with the enemy within. The fall of libya and their large cache of weapons and northern mali provided huge breeding ground for terrorists to arm up, perfect the act of IED making and flee to when the heat is on them The nigerian army has had to re-strategise, trnsform it's self for this new sort of warfare. The army despite it's short comings has done a good job in curtailing this problem. We have recorded successes in a matter of months, were armies stronger than ours took years to record. This is asymmetrical warfare, the enemy fights with no rules . . |

agaugust: . People like Aguagust never change, they are logical examples of how typical Nigerians are. People like him will always argue that blue is green even though it appears pretty obvious in the eyes of the whole world to see. He is still struggling even today to reason with logic and maturity and such elements should be reduced as adolescents trying to play games of taunting with mature people and must always be treated as such. It is however apparent though that he thinks that we are indeed convinced that he lives and works somewhere in American upmarket suburbs. I remain unconvinced that such characters and self-proclaimed suburban cannot be of any American kind. Agaugust is still stuck in the villages of Enugu and that's where he belongs, thus will remain there until he is buried in Nigerian soil. This imposter-cum-American failed to exercise just a simple logic that at war, no matter how powerful you are there are always casualties. Even to the giants of this world, such as America incidents such as that are just the order of the day. The CAR incident is no different to casualties suffered by the US in both Iraq and Afghanistan and even today most women in America are widowed as a result of Americas ongoing deployment. Such incident is even no peculiar to the large casualties inflicted on Nigerian Army by Cameroonians. I therefore would like to make a call to all South Africans never to engage in debate with such elements since they lack sense of rationality, reason capacity and objective view. Indeed, I tell you such molecules will always reduce you to their level of illiteracy and beat you in that region. |

We'd rather die at the hands of rebels other than cowardly killing innocent civilians and yet claim to be the military giants of the continent. Nigeria army 'opens fire on civilians' in Maiduguri 9 October 2012 Last updated at 06:32 Eyewitnesses spoke of a shooting spree by soldiers Nigerian troops have opened fire and burned buildings in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri, reportedly killing 30 civilians. The shootings came after a bomb blast targeting the army had injured two soldiers. But army spokesman Lt Col Sagir Musa told the BBC that soldiers had not shot any civilians. Maiduguri has been under siege from the militant Islamist group Boko Haram, which wants Sharia law in Nigeria. On Sunday, the army said it killed 30 Boko Haram members in another north-eastern city, Damaturu. Eyewitnesses in Maiduguri said soldiers began to indiscriminately open fire on residents and set fire to homes and businesses. 'Truck full of bodies' An Associated Press reporter in the city reportedly counted 30 bodies and 50 buildings that had been set ablaze. Unnamed nurses at the local Umaru Shehu were quoted by Reuters news agency as saying that 30 bodies in civilian clothes had been brought in, with a further five corpses in military uniforms. "Initially, soldiers that came after the explosion harassed residents, whipping them," one person told AFP news agency. "But later they went on a shooting spree and started setting homes and shops on fire." Another resident said the soldiers "shot everybody in sight". One Maiduguri resident told the BBC that a tipper truck full of bodies had been driven to the hospital. "The bodies were dumped there like bags of cement," said the resident. Another resident said: "When soldiers are killed, everyone is an enemy. You just have to pray you are as far as possible from the scene." Similar reports of the security forces arresting and killing local residents following militant attacks have been made on numerous occasions during the past three years of Boko Haram violence. The BBC's Will Ross, in Lagos, says that in the conflict between the army and Boko Haram, civilians have paid a heavy price. Not trusted by either side, people complain that they are stuck in the middle between the bombs of Boko Haram and the bullets of the army, our correspondent says. Col Musa confirmed earlier on Monday that two soldiers had been injured in a bomb blast targeting an army patrol vehicle in Maiduguri. Attacks in central and northern Nigeria blamed on Boko Haram have killed some 1,400 people since 2010. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-19875391 |

I don't know if it will also be worthy of us to make noises and draw conclusions that Nigerian Army is weak, sleepy and feeble. Somewhere, early this year Nigerian Army were ambushed by rebels in Mali and failed to effectively respond to assailants who managed to get away unscathed. The deadly ambush (similar to SA's in CAR) resulted in the killing of two of their soldiers and left several few injured. The full reports are as follows. Two Killed, Four Injured In Bomb Attacks On Mali-bound Nigerian Troops At Okene January 19, 2013 - 16:36 — siteadmin caption: Ap photo of Mali-bound Nigerian soldiers in Kaduna By SaharaReporters, New York About 190 Nigerian troops were ambushed a few kilometers from Okene in Kogi state today. The attack took place around 6: 05 AM Nigerian time as militants cut through the convoy of Mali-bound Nigerian army peacekeepers traveling in three luxurious buses via Kaduna too Bamako, Mali. The militants decimated the convoy with the aid of IEDs planted on the highway and began firing on the troops afterwards. The soldiers were under escort at the time and the military escorts alter returned fire, but the assailants who were parked on both sides of the highway escaped the scene after two soldiers had been killed and several others injured. Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Bola Koleosho confirmed to Saharareporters by phone that two soldiers were killed while the bomb explosion injured four others. The wounded soldiers are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center in Okene. The attack is coming on the heels of disclosure by the Chief of Army Staff Azubuike Ihejirika last week that Mali trained Boko Haram sect militants have arrived Nigeria in large numbers to carry out attacks on various targets in the country. Also a JTF source told SaharaReporters that Boko Haram elusive leader, Abubakar Shekau is currently in Mali receiving weapon training after sustaining injuries during a shoot out in Maiduguri last year. I still quite fail to see the link between this and the combat readiness of the Nigerian army. The Afghans used to say the same thing about US soldiers. So please explain your point. Our soldiers didn't run from the battle front. So what is your point ? The US killed more than 1000 people in the "black hawk down" event. And that was a similar situation with that of Baga. The terrorists had infiltrated the town with their families and the rest of the people in the town were their sympathizing neighbours. How can you save their lives when they put themselves between a soldier and a terrorist, in order to protect the terrorist ? Moreover there was as much chadian soldiers and Nigériens soldiers(not Nigerians) than Nigerian soldiers in that conflict. Msauza: We'd rather die at the hands of rebels other than cowardly killing innocent civilians and yet claim to be the military giants of the continent. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 2:23pm On Apr 24, 2013 |
Actually you are quite wrong, Kogi is a Nigerian state and if you do not understand English then ask someone what Mali bound troops means. The soldiers were being transported to the aiport in their own country, their weapons were not in their possesion. They were moving in an area that wasn't supposed to be hostile, in their own country and were not on duty. The terrorists who ambushed them were shooting from a far location and as soon as the armed escort of the soldiers opened fire, the terrorists ran away. Msauza: I don't know if it will also be worthy of us to make noises and draw conclusions that Nigerian Army is weak, sleepy and feeble. . all war zones all over the world have civilian deaths during military operation in towns where people live and mix with soldiers exchanging fire. in united nations intermational laws it is accepted an called COLLATERAL DAMAGE. nothing new in Nigerian army operations involving civilian deaths same thing happened to American and British army in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as NATO military operation in Bosnia war. Nigerian army is still better than the south African army because no rebels remain standing after fighting Nigerian army, our enemies die or run away from battle, and no rebels drive around in Nigerian army vehicles captured like seleka rebels did to disgrace south African army like never seen before in African history. . |

I think it is the South africans who have such a big image of themselves and their country. You people think you are so great that it makes it verry easy to feed you positif propaganda about your army. Helmoed Heitman is on the payroll of your army yet you believe what he said about the incident even though it contradicts every witness on the ground. How many times on this forum have you people compared yourself to America ? You just think that you are so great that when you get beaten by those who are supposed to be so inferior to you, you just can't take it. Well as it happens, there is nothing special in South africa. You are a little bit richer than Nigeria, but that is just for now. Your industries are doing a little bit better, but still the difference is unsignificant and Nigeria is bound to crush you verry soon. Your army, is strong compared to your police but it is not as strong as most rebel groups in Africa. (even with your so called "super Equipment", which by the way is only average). I do not believe Nigeria is the Giant of Africa because there is no Giant in Africa. The Giant of Africa is the USA. Yes because the world is a small village. Although every expert say Nigeria has the biggest potential in Africa. And someday I believe Nigeria will pass the USA, I will be dead by then, and India will be the world superpower by then. So this is my take on all this. Msauza: |

So stop putting the blame on what might or might not have happened on the Nigerian soldiers. And what you are saying is a big lie. Nobody got prosecuted for Collateral murder except the wistle blower. And nobody got prosecuted for black hawk down. And the US has killed 2 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq combined, and very few people have been prosecuted. So, I think this ends the debate. |

I understand that disobeying these rules is a crime. It dishonours mililtary personnel and their country and makes them liable to punishment as war criminals. I will therefore report any violation of the rules to my superiors. The rest of the rules has to do with treating enemy solders and humantrian personal. When niger gets attacked by a heavly armend force that out numbers them more than 10 to one come back and talk. Msauza:That is what SA is good at, bragging about weapons which are never tested anywhere in the world for combats. I can now agree with the argument South Africans are good in passing propaganda to others to prove beyond necessarily required their capacity to be the giant of Africa. Yet, they are full of xenophobia and tend to run on their hills when rebels strike. That alone speaks volume of the people and advanced weaponry the one-eyed-nation-of-Africa continuously boast of. Are you saying I should be thankful for your military running from rebels attack? Should I be thankful SA is trying to intimidate neighboring country by enforcing economic imperialism? Do I have to be thankful because SA is selling untested weapons to non-free world nations? Please, I can only be thankful for one thing if SA kind of development or better can be replicated in other African countries. Not this your self-aggrandizement to look special and belittle others. Please, jet off my comment. |
