Oh and P.S before you get carried away. The SA pic was not a funeral. That was a pic of the bodies arriving at Waterkloof airforce base, from which seperate funerals with military honours were held.
Your airforce bases that your Generals use as an airport for private wedding jets. I would always say that today's SANDF is a complete mess compared to the defunt SADF that had quality, SANDF has lost a lot of good experienced brains that would have trained your younger soldiers. I respect the defunct SADF although I abhor its apartheid setup not these jokers like @andrewza @fighterpilot who say they are in the military. GOOD MORNING. why nigerian navy's new Type 056 OPV will be africa's most powerful missile warship

see what china puts on ordinary 220 ton patrol boat....

every version of ultra-modern Type 056 stealth warship, either corvette, light frigate, or OPV versions built from the first to the last, all carry powerful anti-ship missiles 2 to 4 times more d.eadly in combat than all other anti-ship missiles in africa. this includes china's navy frigate version, bangladesh's navy corvette version, thailand's navy OPV version, and nigerian navy's OPV version will follow all its blood sister warships in weaponry.

these missiles include china's C-803 or YJ-83 anti-ship missile with a super long range of 300km. the second missile that follows far behind is the Exocet anti-missile block MM40 Block 2 for algerian and south african navies valour frigates with range of just 72km.
the nigerian built warships become 4 times more d.eadly in sea battle.

the chinese have already transferred the full technology of this modular multi-role stealth warship to nigeria, and 70% of the ship will be built in nigerian naval dockyard in lagos posted recently on this thread. nigeria will lead all africa in naval warship power next year 2014.

the Type 056 flexible role warship is designed, built, armed and equipped specially by china with the aim to defeat the great american navy in the south china sea if war happens. it is expected to be china's last hope of defense against america's powerful US Navy.

nigerian navy will have 2 of these modular flexible role multi-purpose warship in full service next year 2014.

each of the two nigerian warships will be 1,800 tons and 95m each.

new commandment on nairaland : "thou shall no longer post NNS ARADU or NNS THUNDER on this forum"

who will dare to mount a naval blockade against nigeria when this ships enter service ? egypt, south africa, algeria ?

which africa country will sail its frigate warship valour or 'valouristic' into nigerian EEZ zone to mount any s.tupid naval blockade, running away from nigerian army's massive coastal artillery firepower and sit down 100km away from nigerian coast, when sudden d.eath is knocking the door of the enemy warships with nigerian C-803 anti-ship missiles ?

Does Nigeria have those missiles? Building the boats does not guarantee you'll get the missiles. The only weapons the Nigerian Navy has listed so far are the 76mm and 30mm guns. Wait for any official from Nigeria stating you will get them, otherwise you dont have them. Or show us the weapons log showing a purchase. Otherwise this is just a wish list. So post this rubbish in 2014 when if you have proof. Also show us how many navies have armed their ships with this missile....which is going to have production cancelled probably.

South African Cruise missile

The Kentron MUPSOW (MUlti-Purpose, Stand-Off Weapon) is a multi-purpose, surgical-strike weapon, designed to neutralize enemy targets such as airfields, bunkers and command-and-control centres at stand-off ranges. Pinpoint accuracy is achieved by using an advanced navigation and terminal guidance technology (data link, choice of TV, IIR or MMW seekers). The airframe is made out of composites, powered by a turbojet.

The Mupsow is a South African development on which Kentron has been working under contract from the Air Force since 1991, with unpowered flight tests commencing in 1997. The MUPSOW is thought to be an extension of the H2 stand-off weapon program. It is not known if Mupsow has entered SAAF service.

Weapon Stats:
Range: 150 km, 93 miles

Length: 4.92 m, 16.14 ft

Width: 1.9 m, 6.23 ft

Weight: 400 kg, 882 lb

Contents: Anti-runway submunitions; Unitary warhead; Bunker penetrator

well if you are mentally okay, i will answer you. video of the stealth guided missile frigate and weblink thatsays nigeria is building it are on top of this page.

spy balloon, remote control bomb detonating robot, and unmanned land drone USV photos have not been released to public by nigerian army, probably because they are all in war zone use now in mali and northern nigeria as the nigerian army says. a nation at war is very careful about public details of its new war weapons not known to the rest of the world. no country at war will give away delicate military information or photos just to foolishly prove a point to some south africans on nairaland.

any south african who does not understand that or still not satisfied with my answer...has a mental problem or is choking to death with envy and shock producing epilepsy.

nigerian military level has changed on this thread from what it was wrongly shown to be on pages 1 to 12.

anybody who is not happy should graduate from sudden shock level to full blown epilepsy.

south africa has no money to build cruise missiles when you cannot even maintain more than 6 to 14 Gripen jets out of 26.

@AGAUGUST do what you do best and insult...Now you have become South Africa's Budget Minister and you know well what we are capable of....Putting Gripens on a long term storage is to save money and reduce unnecessary expenditure, This also goes to 42 G6 BEING OPERATIONAL WHILE THE REST ARE IN A LONG TERM STORAGE....SOME UNITS HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO SAVE COST.

Research on military projects continues and and some had their budgets increased...SHAME IF YOU THINK THE SANDF IS FALLING INTO PIECES AS YOU MANY NAIRAS SUGGEST.

The point of contention is that Nigeria is nowhere near SANDF IN TERMS OF TRAINING, WEAPONS, STANDARD OF PROFESSIONALISM.....COME AND INSULT

You South Africans like to feel good about nothing! What difference does your "warship" make amongst other fishing boats when your spineless SANDF soldiers could not dare to step boots on Ivorien shores? Meanwhile Nigeria as usual was busy calling the diplomatic shots on the ECOWAS and UN levels and applying necessary pressures on Gbagbo to hand power to the duly elected President Alassane Ouattara. Nigeria's recognition of President Ouattara's election contrasts with South Africa's support for defeated Mr. Gbagbo.

Curiously, while South Africa continues to proudly support tyrants/dictators (Gbagbo and Ghaddafi) on the continent, clearly Nigeria has continued to make the right moves in the interest of democracy. Nigeria has where/when necessary deployed our military might to ensure stability in areas of conflict and instability on the continent. So far we have not failed or lost our missions!!

Poor SANDF ... more practice with Seleka will make them perfect someday!

Mr. Mike..ZA kindly tell us the main mission of the ship to Ivory Coast?

We did not interven due to france. They still to strong for us.

And your "eye raising" weapons have not won South Africa and SANDF any wars even against such rag-tag and lowly rebel fighters like Seleka. No doubt your troops will need "beauty eye-liners" to nicely model their weapons in front of Seleka "cameras" while our soldiers train their eyes on enemy targets with weapons proudly made for them by them!

Our weapon manufacturing and use is internally focused. That's how we roll!

We never lost a battel in angola and we gave seleka a bloody nose. 15 dead vs 800 dead.

SANDF of now is the dead version of SADF, and no matter the weapons you build, it is the ability of the men to use them that counts. even kenya will wipe SANDF with ease. grin grin grin grin grin grin

The rooikat could easyly take out a vikers tank. Swingfire may do the trike but a 76mm he round can take out the entier AGM team.

@AGAUGUST show us the proof that Nigeria possess a lethal firepower....or just swallow your pride and accept that South Africa is better than your Defence force. You were denying that South Africa has cruise missiles and when a roof was presented, you shifted goal posts and that money has dried up for such projects.

Such a deduction on your part indicates a lack of debate and what is positive? Many attempts were shown by you that Nigeria was the best but however many of your comments were either a wish list that cannot be achieved or glorifiying foreign made weapons than show casing your own products.

The praising of Egypt form your part is an attempt to further reduced the SANDF than admitting its capacity. How on Earth can you compare a self sufficient army wich relies on its budget to conduct its own operations with Egypt that relies on a 1,5 Billion USD aid to sustain its military capacity.

Blowing hot air and rubbishing South Africa wont nullifiy the SANDF superiority over Nigeria....
