Sorry na because pages many here,i no dey quick see all of them. Factory work dey distract me sometimes.
You see TECHNICAL reasons dey for a stock when no wan gree run because of 9months or 6months.
When the market don already anticipate something finish,e no go run quickly. Me dey call am the GEAR CHANGE EFFECT for my book.
The price go wan reset for another move.
Another reason is this,like i've been saying since.Even me i no buy anything today or yesterday.
Month wan end.You know how much borrowed money dey this place.So plenty.Banks suppose balance books before month end.See as them dey reset themselves.Even the banks are involved in trading.
Since i don talk 1st bank, i never buy new one.E still dey fall.
Make next week reach. People go start to dey collect their salary next week, them know were them go put am later next week and the following.

@Fo2
Based on what you are saying, the prices tend to drop as these fellows pull out money at the end of the month.So its a good time to buy before the prices begin to rally back.

Thank you.

@blest, are you saying Nigerian are good at reading books? I have just decided to abandon my almost completed manuscript for a book I have been writing (now 130 pages)

My reason is that all around me, none of my friends have read a complete book despite my prodding. Everybody borrows my films but nobody has ever asked to také my books!

Everybody will like me to tell them of my trading strategies, but when I give them book references for further reading, they get up and say bye.

Even the internet, they never browse pages like nairaland, they prefare colored pages with more graphics than letters.

I better leave my money alone, rather than using it to publish a book that will gather dust on some book stand, with nobody to read them.

@invisible
Exactly what am talking about.Nigerians love to read books,it just matters what pple are around you.imagine you stopping to write a book becos of your friends and co.very simple , just change your friends cos they are a bad influence on you or ypu change them.Am sure your friends dont constitute up to 0.001% of this country.

i beg this thread na for stocks so lets leave it at that.

Oga Wanajo, with all due respect i dont agree with you.I believe a nation is general perception of what we call ourselves.i think you're speaking from a section of the society.All my life in nigeria and abroad Nigerians are one of the brightest pple i have come across. the only way we can change this perception is to send the right msg to our bothers and not make a final declaration of them.

You have to make better arrangements. I also have my money lying in a bank account in Naija but the Bank Manager is a close buddy. A phone call is all that is needed to transfer funds to any bank in Naija same day.

I used to use GTB as well but since they deactivated 3rd party transfers, no money goes into the account again.

I would have liked to travel from NIGERIA to GERMAN, using TRANSEXPRESS flight. But the flight was ADC airlines, so I contacted NAHCO to do my baggage; I also noticed that the window of the plane was made by BETA GLASS.

An official of TOURIST COMPANY was around to get me a nice car; we stopped at OANDO for some fuel. When I came back into the country, I stayed at IKEJA HOTELS.
The next day I was at FIRST BANK to make some cash withdrawals, but I missed my atm transactions at GTB. Thereafter, I went to shop and bought some 7UP products, generators from AG LEVENTIS, clothes from ASABA TEXTILES, books from LONGMAN, pillows from VITAFOAM.

I remembered that I should paint my house in the village, so I visited DN MEYER for some paints. I will also buy WAPCO CEMENT since it is cheaper than DANGOTE CEMENT. Stopped at BIG TREAT for some bread, and then noticed that JULIUS BERGER was doing roads that were awarded to COSTAIN, how come?

I ran out of cash so I breezed into OCEANIC BANK, and saw a friend there. He worked for CADBURY and married a lady working at MAY & BAKER. We went out to mr biggs, owned by UACN. My friend wanted to have some maltina, a product of NIGERIAN BREWERIES, but was instead given a GUINNESS malta.

There were adverts on the telly, AIICO INSURANCE were doing offer for shares, but my friend liked ZENITH BANK offer better. As we were leaving, a truck belonging to NIG. BOTTLING CO. was in our way, so we did a detour, came out of another road in front of UNILEVER.

Recapitalisation funds pour in
Posted Wednesday, December 12, 2007

More companies will, this week, receive the monies paid into a dedicated account in Central Bank as proceeds from their recapitalisation exercise. Over N50billion is expected.

The funds started coming in more than a week ago after government's intervention in the post-consolidation crisis in the industry. Cornerstone, Insurance PHB, Wapic Intercontinental are among the companies that have their accounts already credited.

Unconfirmed reports also put the number of insurers that have received their funds at 15, while many others are certain that their accounts will be credited before the end of the week

African Alliance and Guinea Insurance have confirmed that they expect their accounts to be credited this week. The slow and phased release of the funds have been attributed to various dates that each company submitted and reconciled its deposits in the escrow account.

But, the effect of the funds being released are being felt with the continued rise in the prices of quoted insurance stocks. And stockbrokers already foresee a more bullish market in the sector in the coming months with expectations of dividend payout and bonuses.

However, most insurers say the expected investment income that such funds would have accrued if invested in premium equity have been lost more than 8 months that the funds have been kept in CBN. Some have been under intense pressure from clients and brokers to prove that they raised money before they could be given business.

Currently, insurers are using their funds to either negotiate insurance deals with banks who are pressing for the deposits to be placed with them or depositing with banks that have given them business in the past. It was gathered that banks are muscling their way to win insurers’ deposits or selling shares to them while CEO’s believe this is the time to get the best from any deposit or shares they get.

In a move to reassure their customers and shareholders, companies that have received their funds and those expecting to get theirs are restating their promise of giving shareholders value for their money. After a protracted crisis that engulfed the industry, the national Insurance Commission found it difficult to effect the release of the funds, even after the verification was concluded, but things changed with government’s intervention.

Insurers have argued that monies paid into the escrow account in CBN was not part of the claims in court by any of the parties. - Vanguard

easimoni:

I believe "grabdaloot" gave a good example of the use of RSI. If a stock has been gaining 5% for days, but it if the RSI is still low, don't buy if the RSI has hit 75. What more do you want? I don't subscribe to specific buy/sell instructions (homwork, homework). Let's bring the use of the indicator up for discussion instead of asking asking users/"gurus" to feed us.

I'd like to see if it is indeed useful of if I just wasted my time and two Excel textbooks tongue

totally agree with you easimoni. the way he explained this stuff made so much sense to me.

@grabdaloot

u have to put us thru this RSI thing oh shocked
Investment / Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by blest(m): 3:52pm On Dec 12, 2007
grabdaloot:

blest,

My understanding is that you select a stock to invest in based on fundamentals and but you decide on when to invest in that stock based on technical evaluation. Going a few threads back I see that easimoni posted some charts, that was awesome especially the RSI you see in the NSE, all stocks experience a turn around when the RSI gets to about 85. It is a function of the volume traded, loss/gain. The modified RSI incorportes the number of deals per day of the stock, losing stocks depending on the industry they are classified in hold out at about 30-25 or even turn around. so lets assume I want to buy a stock and it is gaining 5% everyday I will check out the RSI chart for that stock if it is still about 40 or 50 then I will buy but if it is approaching 75 I will back-off. So you see, that I love grabbing the loot doesn't mean that I don't do my homework. I do it very well. You can quote me on this one "RSI WORKS" people have made hundreds of millions in the NSE from it

i see u really do your homework but the thing about all this analysis to me is how u are able to translate it to become a money spinner.i dont even use RSI yet (intend to sturdy it this weekend) but men with the infomation i have am able make some good money.i give u an example,in the house nobody has been saying anything bout intercontinental but in some few days i have made over half million and still counting.We can do all the maths but let it translate.
