Seriously Greentree when I posted earlier on that you should go back to the tree you came down from,I thought it was meant to be a joke. But now I am dead serious.

Did you say you have a wife?Na waoh!I weep for her. cry cry cry cry

I want to safely assume you are not a doctor,so to be recommending someone to The Maudsley it means you must have a bed there.Who unchained you?I remember the story of "Alaye" who came to London, plaited his hair, wore ear rings but everytime he opened his mouth he pronounced "HOUSE" as "OUSE","HI" as "I","EVERYBODY" as "HEVERYBODY".And there are still many of them in London,eg-Greentree.From your posts it is very obvious you don't belong "ERE".

Find your level Greentree and before I forget ,say "I" to your wife.

All,

I am appealing to all that have been offended by one statement or the other to forgive and forget and let's focus on the main reason we are all glued to our screens for hours. Seun's motive for initiating and creating this great platform will be defeated if this abusive trend is not discontinued. Let's all work toward making the time spent in this forum a worthwhile one, by limiting our postings to Stock related and other non offensive statements.

Thanks all, for your ingenuous contributions.

Apekanuko,

Eegun mo ni eniyan o mo. Se you bi half for "Monster" woman's kontri and half for Stephen Harper's abode. If na so, we don dey miss you o,

My broker no gree get me Afroil too since the direction reversal. I would not advise you drop your "instincts and sentiments" approach for the "Fundamental" school of thought; rather would advise that you attend the fundamental school under Aktopgun, invinsible, pumping et al, and use both to your advantage.

Also try and establish a relationship with whomever might be your assigned officer at LEAD and that might make a difference. I would also suggest that you always have alternative/back-up stocks when giving purchase orders to your broker. This would prevent them from coming up with excuses, while your money is actually being turned around for their benefits.

@ real investors,
Remember it takes some time for every new company to stand it,s ground even in individual's level of direct business. in stock market, whatever goes up come down, what comes down goes up as well, i,m writing to investors and not speculators, GIGOERS, ZIZOERS, RIROERS. real investors know the point i,m driving at, go for abandoned stock for the now, the market will always make it,s turn around, just imagine the conglomerate sector, every reasonable investor will begin to understand this now. NO MORE PENNY STOCK IN NSE, the next bullish turn will take you up, position now while the price is low today, where some are crying, some will still be rejoicing, that,s the market nature. it has happened before, in cadbury's case, after the smell of a dead rat , the train then left the station even till now people are still running after it. TRANSCORP IS FOR REAL INVESTORS TODAY.

I am with you on this, Transcorp will surely bounce back, and this is indeed a very good time to enter for medium to long term gain,

Folks,

A friend of mine in Nigeria expressed his frustrations about the happenings in the Nigeria Stock Market domain, and I thought that could not be true. One of his numerous complaints was that the brokers now have to grease the palms of the guys working in the registrar's office to validate the share certificates; sort of finding a way of being employed, even a s a cleaner, and the money will be rolling in. That might have accounted for why transactions now take longer to reflect in the CSCS account.

Has anyone succeeded in accessing his/her transaction price information in the CSCS account? I have not been successful with this.

Meanwhile, this might be the right time to board the TransCorp train, as I believe the stock will bounce back after the dust is fully settled.

Fundamentalists,

What do you think of "Abplast" as a penny stock at the current price of 1.45?

The way I use is by consulting my CSCS account on-line. It shows the buying or selling price and this can be compared to the contract notes from the broker. I do not have trade alert but I guess this should also state the price. Lately, CSCS on-line has displayed the buying and sell prices, I want to believe that it is due to system overload which wil soon be corrected.

Thanks, I tried doing this in my CSCS account, but got nothing. Do you just double-click on the stock under the "Security Column" of the CSCS listing?

Folks,

I am just curious about brokers' buying and selling prices. Is there any way one can validate a broker's claimed selling or buying prices. It just occurred to me that one might also be short-changed on orders, despite the broker's commission,

Agreed , But look at it this way. Even as a Nigerian when I started investing, it took me a while to start trusting my broker and the system. The reason is the years and years of bad news cherry picking from the world news media. It will take an outsider some time to understand the way NSE operates. For me I will not help any foreigner,

I would advise you get a loan or line of credit and pay this guy back. Nigeria's reputation notwithstanding, a degree of relationship and trust must have existed between you both for him to have parted with such a huge sum. Besides, who says that there are no fraudulent folks in the guy's immediate or extended family, not to talk of his neighborhood. Bad guys abound everywhere and traverse race and nationality. I endeavor to educate them, at every available opportunity, about the population of Nigeria, and how there are millions of Nigerians in the Western world making honest, decent and truthful living. It would be wrong to consider every "Gary Smith" on the road a thief, because one was caught shop-lifting the other day.

Please pay him back and show him that money's worth in 6 Months. I am sure you would look back then and consider his decision to ask for his money a blessing in disguise to you.

Emaachile,

Thanks very much for your input, My broker believed she can get most of them. What if I opt for some of the newly listed insurance stocks that are under 3 naira in place of Lasaco?

Gurus in the house, please advise on the limit price to buy these stocks. My broker asked for the information and I wanted to avoid authorizing a blanket price for each, Thnx

1. Unhomes
2. Sterling bank
3. Ecobank
3. Eternaoil
4. Arbico
5. Firstalum
7. International Breweries

The stocks above are either too scarce to get or overvalued.
Why not conisder the following
Afribank
UBA
Lasaco for a short term play (entry=5)

In relation to your question,  Yes if you have a solid arragemnet with your broker, this could be done.  I bought dangote in a couple of name and my total retun money of about 3.2million naira was paid into my account in one name.  Actually, my broker was very good at handling this, but some could be lazy.

Jide ams-----------------Lucky you, I bought Dangote Flour Mills PO in my wife and kids' names and got about N1.5M back. The manager of the UBA bank where I bank refused to allow my friend pay the money into my account. He insisted that I would have to open individual accounts with the checks. We have being on this for over two weeks now, without being able to re-use it in the secondary market. It is really painful seeing the stocks rising without being able to position myself, despite the available fund,

Please gurus. I have about N12,000. can you please tell me a company I can invest in within the next two to three months? I already have a stock broker and a cscs account. I am thinking of penny stocks. What if UNIVERSAL INSURANCE COMPANY PLC? OR SHOULD I invest in First Bank. I heard they do their AGM abound Sep. and they will likely be giving bonuses, therefore a rise in prise. Please don't mind my ignorance. Just give me a reasonable professional advice. Thanks all.

Toluxa1,

12,000 naira is not a lot of money to invest in stocks, hence would advise you put it on one of the penny stocks, preferably an insurance stock. This amount will only give you about 255 units of First bank. If on the other hand, you are worried about potential PO with the insurance companies, the PO era will pass and your money will grow with time, So, think longer term with this amount of money. However, my response would have been different were you to have meant $12,000 or 12,000 Pounds,

Samstone4, Gidij, Akpotgun, Stanchucks and other Naija based colleagues in the house, please provide hints on the question below and let's keep praying for Obama's success and protection.

I have a local current account with UBA and I am considering opening a stock broking account with them. My initial thought was that I would be able to use my existing UBA current account to fund my stock broking account. The UBA representative insisted on me opening an NRN account before they can process a stock broking account for me.

Gurus in the house, is this normal or another of UBA's ploy to make me pay double running two different accounts with them? Please every contribution based on previous related experiences, no matter how small, will be appreciated.

Any hope for Obama in the ongoing race? Will his nomination not cause the Democrat the ticket to the white house on the basis of race? Just a digression from my main question above.

Gurus in the house,

I registered with the CSCS and made the required payment. Eventually, I got the email below requesting that I logon to register my account for activation. I got to the site and found out that this would require some information (Username, Password and User Code) that were not provided by CSCS. All efforts made toward contacting them for explanations on this have been futile, as they have refused to reply my mails. I also tried to trick the site by re-registering afresh but wasn't successful.

Any hints on this would be highly appreciated.

Merry Xmas and happy New year in advance to you all. May the year 2008 be a year of abundant blessings and prosperity for all of us. I have been reading and enjoying intellectual postings from you great folks at this forum, and thought it was high time I became actively involved too.

I have been following a series of discussion thread, but have not read any posting on "Share Acquisition/Margin Facility". Can somebody please throw more light on this? Is it a sensible and profitable venture to explore?
