It is very clear that many of the young men and women making comments here do not have a good knowledge of the man, Prof. Wole Soyinka, some of them were either to young to know when he won the nobel price or were not yet born and unfortunately their fathers did not tell them his story.
The man Soyinka hates injustice, you can't take it away from him. A man in his 80s is certainly a grand father and should be respected.
Prof should see all the negative comments about his person as one of the downside of social media. It does not imply that Nigerians does not appreciate his person and contribution.
Most of the young men on social media rattling our Prof should kindly desist from it. South Africans will never disparage Mandela or Desmond Tutu they way we are doing to Wole Soyinka.

In what sphere would you compare the person of Mandela to Soyinka who is only known in the field of literature? What indispensable relevance does that field have in our existence? When in the history of Mandela did he insult the south Africans in provocations?

Literature / Re: Soyinka Threatens To Exit Nigeria by greatjoey: 8:30am On Dec 06, 2016
Buyeradvertcom:
Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has threatened to exit Nigeria as a response to the media harassment to which Nigerians have subjected him.

Speaking to reporters today at a media event held at Freedom Park on Lagos Island, Mr. Soyinka, winner of the 1986 Nobel Prize for literature, said he was embarrassed to share a country with some "imbeciles and morons."

He said, "I should not be exiting the United States but Nigeria because the people on behalf of whom one has struggled all one’s life can be so slavish in mentality as to start querying the right of their champion to free speech."

He continued, "I am embarrassed to occupy the same space as some imbeciles and morons," adding that the exit from Nigeria can be "internal" or "external".

Mr. Soyinka, a retired professor from Obafemi Awolowo University and numerous universities in the U.K. and US, also threatened to move the residency of his foundation, the Wole Soyinka Foundation, out of Nigeria and dared anybody to criticize his decision.

"If the board agrees," he said, "I will move the residency of my foundation out of the country," he said.

He added that on the inauguration of the US president-elect, Donald Trump, he would hold a private funeral wake to mourn the death of common sense in Nigeria.

The Nobel laureate expressed irritation at many Nigerians who had taken to the social media to criticize his comment to leave the United States of America and tear his green card after Mr. Trump was declared winner in the November 8, 2016 presidential election in the US.

He said, "We worked to make sure the least important person in our society enjoys freedom of expression. When I decide to take this same action [use his freedom of speech], I don’t want people whom we have fought for to enjoy freedom of expression to start all kinds of vulgar and stupid commentaries.

"Barbarians have taken over this community using the anonymity, most of the time, of the Internet to sit somewhere and start writing rubbish, questioning the right of people like me to express ourselves."

Mr. Soyinka said Nigerians have no right to question his decision to leave the US.

"What is the business of any stupid Nigerian to open his or her mouth to challenge my right? Did you get the green card for me? The arrogance of some Nigerians is overwhelming, and I don’t interfere, so how dare you interfere with me?" he said.

He asked, “Why do Nigerians wail louder than the bereaved?”

Mr. Soyinka said he never wanted the American green card, but was given one by former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, which caused him to christen the document "Jimmy Carter's card."

He said, "I call my green card Jimmy Carter’s card because he got it for me and, as a matter of fact, I did not ask for it."

http://saharareporters.com/2016/12/05/wole-soyinka-berates-nigerian-critics-threatens-exit-nigeria

I see that senility has taken a toll on the workings of Soyinka's brain. Come to think of it, who made him our champion in the past? Men of great knowledge are known by their contributions made towards breakthrough in human existence. We know them in the field of science and technology and not a mere field of story tellings. Your foundation has not had any impact on the citizenry and here you are threatening to take out. Who cares? You are one of the reasons we are plunged into this dungeon of despondency and near death experience today. Your threat is typical of Afonjas. You talk much more than you act. It's high time you relocated to Niger republic. Leaders don't insult the led even in Provocation. You are the slowpoke here, old oaf.

Lol! You mean the farce of a book filled with the most subjective mainstream misconceptions of the infidels which is available for free online and on amazon? Muslims scared of reading that pile of winnits? Do you know how many times a clueless plonker thought he wrote a book that will supress islam? Small fry its impossible. Unlike christianity whose very own book, the funny bible is its undoing!

Why is Christianity always a threat to you Muslim Umma? Several books cutting across Islam and Chistianity were listed Here. The NN member who mentioned the one titled ' the people v Mohammed' did not make any comparism between Islam and Christianity, neither did he indicate that he was a christian. But all you could do was to show that your comment to counter his assertion would not hold water until Christianity and the Bible were mentioned. Don't you know that alot of Atheists make post to castigate other religions too? From time being, Muslims like you have done many things to put out the light of christianity. But it remains a true faith in all generations. They import Bible in their millions and destroyed them, killed millions of christian to eliminate and subjugate Christianity, imprisoned millions, waged ware fare against it, forced millions to convert to Islam like it was done in Kwara, Oyo, Niger, Kaduna, and many states by Usman Dan fodio etc, make it a death punishment for a muslim to convert to other religion etc. Yet, Christianity keeps waxing strong. The practice of Islam undos the popularity as it is founded on Cannibalism. Checkbout what is happening between the Shia and the Sunni in Nigeria, Iran, Siria, Iraq etc.

Going by your post, I expected that you would be above board in the knowledge of English language. But, you made me know that you do not understand English well too. The expression ; ' excuse me, please CAN you go back a little' is grammatically wrong. This is because, the word CAN expresses ABILITY which is only determined by the speaker. Do not use CAN when you make a request. Rather, use MAY or COULD. Thank you.

In Israel, there are 12 tribes which are >
1. REUBEN.
2. SIMEON.
3. JUDAH.
4. IS'SACHAR.
5. ZEB'ULUN.
6. DAN.
7. GAD.
8. BENJAMIN.
9. NAPHTALI.
10. ASHER.
11. EPHRAIM.
12. MANASSEH.

Out of these twelve tribes, why is Jesus referred with only one, which is Judah out of other Tribes?
Jesus is referred to as the lion of the tribe of Judah because, though he was born of spiritual conception, Joseph is his earthly father. Joseph is a descendant of the tribe or clan of Judah going by the genealogy of Jesus, hence the reference.

Health / Re: 10 Helpful Ways To Fight Bad Breath by greatjoey: 6:24pm On Nov 12, 2016
winetapper:
Some people has this bad breath, that before they think of what to tell you, you have already start perceiving the odor angry

Let me start with the causes then the cure.
The origins of bad breath are not mysterious: dental cavities, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, coated tongue (a white or yellow coating on the tongue, usually due to inflammation) are among the most common.

Hundreds of bacteria live in our mouths and some of them—on the tongue or below the gumline or in pockets created by gum disease between gums and teeth, for example—create sulfurous smells.

Other causes may include malnutrition (fat breakdown gives your breath a fruity odor), uncontrolled diabetes, and dry mouth (saliva has an antimicrobial effect). Infections such as sore throat or sinusitis, or intestinal disorders, such as heartburn, ulcers, and lactose intolerance, also result in bad breath.

Bad breath can be intermittent as well. Food and drink, such as garlic, onions, coffee, and alcohol, can temporarily cause bad breath. Smokers also suffer from it. Whatever the cause, treatment involves correcting the underlying disorder—and/or perhaps trying a few easy solutions

Here are 10 ways to fight bad breath: smiley

1 .  Drink plenty of water and swish cool water around in your mouth. This is especially helpful to freshen “morning breath.”

 2. Brush after every meal and floss, preferably twice a day.

3 . Replace your toothbrush every two to three months.

4. Arrange regular dental checkups and cleanings.

5.Scrape your tongue each morning with a tongue scraper or spoon to decrease the bacteria, fungi, and dead cells that can cause odor. Hold the tip of the tongue with gauze to pull it forward in order to clean the back of the tongue.

6. Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds, or aniseeds. Their antiseptic qualities help fight halitosis-causing bacteria.

7. Chew a piece of lemon or orange rind for a mouth- freshening burst of flavor. (Wash the rind thoroughly first.) The citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands—and fight bad breath.

8. Chew a fresh sprig of parsley, basil, mint, or cilantro. The chlorophyll in these green plants neutralizes odors.

9. Try a 30-second mouthwash rinse that is alcohol-free (unike many off-the-shelf products). Mix a cup of water with a teaspoon of baking soda (which changes the pH level and fights odor in the mouth) and a few drops of antimicrobial peppermint essential oil. Don’t swallow it! (Yields several rinses.)

10. One cannot know everything, please add yours in case you have any.

I sincerely wish this piece gets to one Tif-Numbu, the AaaPeeCee national leader whom also measures as demi god in the Wasted part of Nigeria. It will help him overcome his oral toilet

The interrelationships between Igala and Igbo are so u intertwined that explanation may take a who day to be achieved. There are lots of communities in Enugu, Delta, and Anambra that have Igala ancestry. Also, a good number is f communities exist in Igala land that have Igbo ancestry. In Igala Ataship or chieftaincy, the people of Igalamela are the custodians of Atah title. It is the traditional responsibility of Igalamela to enthrone or give althe staff of office and crown a new Ata of Igala. By Igala history, the Igalamela people are Igbos by origin. They are not descendants of Abutu Ejeh. But today, they are all known as Igala people.

May the govt should prepare a Bill of Quantity (BoQ) detailing things like cements, nail, gravel and labour for the wailing senate.

What could be wrong with the brains of our youth lately? Must everything be politicised? If Jonathan failed as we alleged, must we stay and watch Buhari do same? Fine, Jonathan's administration was engulfed with so much looting. This government made us believe so. The government also made us believe that a lot have been recovered from the looters of the past administration. Why borrow $29 bn when we have recovered so much from the alleged looters? With your poor grammatical proficiency, I did not expect you to make any contribution on a topic like this.
Truth be told, as an anglophone nation, speaking English as a first language does contribute to child intelligence as it creates room for apt understanding of the subject taught. However, local language should be encouraged too.
