At kunleSAP, first of all, good for you! keep focused. Secondly, stand alone SAP servers will not run on an external drive. What I suggest, is ask a professional to remove your current drive and use that as an external drive, (plug and play) and then replace the drive with an internal drive on which your server will run. If you want the IDES, i will email you the office address of the guy who will sort it out for you, and i guarantee you are safe. if you are interested, pls put your email ad. thnx.

thanks Ade mark. This is exactly what I said a couple of months ago, i.e about self study, and how to download study materials from the internet, however, some ppl still prefer to attend a tutorial. I guess it may be easier for them. All said and done, the good thing is that now ppl have options they can excersise. your personal server, you can get for abt N50k, that way you dont have to log onto the internet or depend on someone elses server issues. with ur ECC6.0 server, all u need is a 350gb hard drive (i.e if you want to partition your drive and also use the computer or laptop for other things) or a 220gb drive if you want to use it for a server alone. with this, or the way ademark suggested, you can practice and simulate scenarios.
On the issue of certification, it is true that it is not a prerequisite for getting a job, but i personally recommend that you get certified, because a lot of people are venturing into SAP now, and that will definitely sooner rather than later, be a differentiating and selecting tool in the hiring process. In addition, certification exposes you to a broader view of your chosen module which you definitely need in your interview, this information, you definitely will not have if you read up or gloss over the basics. Also, as a certified consultant, SAP allows you to use the logo on all your interests, use the SAP marketplace, which you most certainly need if you are consulting, and lastly, the only thing that can earn you the SAP job either as a consultant or end user, is experience. So as a hirer, who would u hire between the inexperienced, non certified, and the inexperienced certified?

And to those who were quick to respond without reading the previous posts by abu$, or previous posts where i indicated that i was too busy to socialise, when someone asks you for your address and phone number, s that personal or not? or if someone tells you that it is only married women who refuse invitations, is that personal or not? but you all dont think those were 'out of order'? I think ive made my point.
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 6:01am On Jun 07, 2010
I am sorry if my response to Abu$ was offensive to the rest of you, who obviously hadnt noticed that this invitation had been on for a while. In what other way can i refuse? but unfortunately I stand my ground. All said and done, at this point I think its time to take a bow. Enjoy your thread, and I wish you all the best. Now i understand why most of these threads have very little or no female participants. Good bye and good luck. Markos, Ehiagwam, winneijay and a few others, I will intro u to another naija site i know, with a lot of interesting ang and informative threads on SAP.

Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 1:57pm On Jun 06, 2010
pls when you put your email address for the academy, pls mention the module you are interested in. thnx.
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 1:55pm On Jun 06, 2010
In my opinion, if you want to venture into SAP, find the module you are comfortable with and start from there. Business One and A1 are a piece of cake when you understand a core fundamental module. B1 and A1 are prconfigured solutions and even though the sizes of companies implementing in nigeria will mainly require that, but it is better to have a proper grasp of a core module(s), before sidelining into those. Also note that if B1 and A1 is all the SAP knowledge you have, u may have a lot of limited choices.

Hope this weekend is restful for you all, I intend to rest as well, but i gotta work tommorow and sunday if i want to finish this project soon. I cant wait to take a well deserved holiday to somewhere nice at the end of it all! Study hard o, and practice! Sacrifice this time. Have a good wkend.

Hi Felixv, Thnx for ur mgs. Im happy u r getting along gd in SD.
Im actually in Lagos, but my schedule is so tight, i dont even have a second for myself. its crazy out here.
However, make sure you crack that SD. Ok. the rewards are worth it. (suffer now, enjoy for a long time after.)
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 7:30pm On May 31, 2010
You are spot on markos, and indeed I use those tools and resources you mentioned, however, you will be suprised to hear some questions from ppl stuck on their projects and ask questions like "why is my sales order not reflecting the item price?" in such cases you need to tell the asker what to check for in his config. But all said and done, Im open for questions on this forum if and when they arise. I guess we are all learning.
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 6:09pm On May 31, 2010
@felixv, in as much as i support a100% that it should be component specific, however i was considering the fact that the community is still small, young and growing, and we need to stick together, at least till ppl find their feet. So I suggest we start wuth all modules functional and technical, and see how it goes from there, pls lets limit the discussions to config and not advise on careers and related questions. this is the forum for that.
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 3:09pm On May 31, 2010
for those already consulting, is there a forum or blog where we can ask knowledge questions, i.e if you have an error message on the system or you are stuck somewhere? there are a lot online, but i think someone shld start a local one for this environment. Thanks. Just a suggestion anyway!
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 3:07pm On May 31, 2010
For those wanting to attend the new SAP Academy in Lagos, they are starting the HR module this June, but for other modules, I will give you the date when I know. Please note:::: It has nothing to do with me!!!!!!!!!! I am just aware of it by chance. However, I can arrange a discount on the price if there is a bulk attendance. Just to let you know also, some of the attendees are from Ghana and Cameroun, that shows theres no other one around. Was told its for 4 weeks intensive and cert exams are arranged.

@markos. Thnx again. I am trying also to add another module to my skill set, and I know MM is the obvious choice, but I have realised that to remain relevant and competitive in this industry, you must remain ahead of the pack, so Im actually thinking of glossing over MM at least be able to do basic config, and chewing the Oil and Gas bone, which is in high demand in the middle East, thats where the money is o! They pay abt $1500 - $2000 per day, on single modules, talk less of when you are multi modular. All said and done, my advise to anyone who wants to make it big time in this industry, is eat, drink, sleep, dream, play, laugh, fight, joke, SAP, and pray to GOD!!!Practice, practice, practice!, read and study continuously, even when u are certified, abi markos? we've been certified for a while and the challenges are new every morning.
Anyway, enjoy your bank holiday, Im at work as usual, but Im gonna enjoy a nice holiday (like markos did) after this proj goes live.
Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 9:52am On May 31, 2010
Hi Markos. Thanx. Its nice being in Naija after a long while. Im at an oil company (sorry I cant reveal the name for obvious reasons). Its actually an A1 implementation (SAP All-in-One), so its not a very long project. Its quite interesting and its my first A1 project, I love the fact that its a preconfigured solution. The rates are ok for the tenor of the proj (about 19 weeks), but i am being paid in $s, so I dont mind.
I actually will be starting another project in Nig immediately I finish this one, but Im trying to get a proj in Dubai, if that comes thru', I will jetison the nig one. Hope things are working out fine.

@MrToro amd co, sorry I havent logged into this forum for a while, and didnt get any notification of ur msgs. I am presently on an SAP implementation in Nigeria and will be thru with this contract in July /August, before returning to the UK. In the interim, you can dowmload SD mats from the internet, just google SD certification materials and you will see a couple of schools showing the certification topics. copy these and  google each of the topics individually. lots of work, but well worth it. hope this helps.

Career / Re: About Sap? by sappiel(f): 11:53pm On Apr 11, 2010
@mayonikks, for MM you need the TAMM materials for certification. Do you have those? all the questions will come out of those materials. I hope you were not planning to read anything else, you will be wasting your time. All exam cert questions are based on their TA materials. @Remm, thanx for responding on the Oil and Gas. Actually, I will be in Nigeria in a couple of weeks to start a new implementation with an oil coy. so im trying to polish up my skills.

Abu the mats u need for Oil and Gas are:
SAP IOG 100, 150, 320, 330, 340, 350, GW 40, 50, SCM 500, 600, 610, TOG 10-82. You need to search for each of them seperately. I only have IOG 100 and IOG 150, I will soon get all the rest. if I can, u can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will let you know when i do.
