agaugust:You will be sad to read this quote below. Which only proves that your Rolands will be a toast. "Wessels says their customer's major requirement is in the PGM arena for bomb kits for the Mk 82 227kg (500lb) bombs. But Umbani can also be made to fit the 113kg (250lb) Mk 81 and 454kg (1000lb) Mk 83 bombs. "In two years' time this could be a bread and butter product," says Wessels. "Our bomb-kit design is an optimal trade-off between performance and affordability plus ease of use. We have matured the technology sufficiently to offer Umbani in its basic configuration to the market at stand-off range up to 40km and with great accuracy." Umbani has been advertised as an all-weather, day and night system and is fitted with a GPS/INS (Global Positioning System - Inertial Navigation System) capability. According to Denel, the system was designed with ease of use in mind and has low maintenance and life-cycle costs." |

.... hi @everybody, the delay in posting the NAF vs SANDF Navy air to sea war simulation is due to the distractions i got all through this weekend from some foolish south africans over old issues of Roland SAM, Otomat SSM, Artillery combat, Umbani guided bomb, etc. i have decided to answer the SA mofos on the above topics, after that , i will have time to write and post the war simulation hopefully in the next 7 days. thanks fellow nairalanders

agaugust:Your argument is all over the place. Lesson here 1. The roland won't track a Rooivalk operating in NOE. 2. The Range of the Umbani PGM is 40km making a Roland a burned roast. 3. Your AA guns will too be roasted from 40km away. After that roast artillery will be called in to finish up mechanised equipment. |

Mike..ZA: only a mad.man like you believes a snail slow speed 35km/h to 80km/h Umbani bomb will defeat a supersonic speed 2,000 km/h Roland missile...you need psychiatric help....or its your father's second wife that is remote controlling your brain to think in reverse motion ? . |

Fighter Pilot: fool....skua limit is 10 feet above sea level, otomat is below it at 6 feet above sea level. fool ask DENEL to test your Umkhonto against an Exocet sea skimming missile and show us the test result, since you say south africa is always firing missiles for fun like christmas fireworks . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 12:03am On Sep 30, 2013 |
agaugust:Like you would put it. 24 Hawks(each carrying 4 Bombs) Drop Umbani PGM from 40km away plus Gripens dropping Paveways against your 16 launchers. How is your army going to defend against that. Can your Roland fire simultaneously at more 6 six bombs flying towards it. Plus fire at Rooivalks. Now that your Rolands are a toast the Vulture drone, will fly above your units followed by G5,G6 and G7 shells. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 1:48am On Sep 30, 2013 |
agaugust: Is seems as if you have a real problem with your understanding. The Umkhonto system provides 360 degree (azimuth) coverage of the ship, meaning it can go to any angle. I gave you the source to educate yourself about umkhonto, but instead you chose never to read it. The umkhonto provides an all round defence from the water surface of one side of the ship to the water suface of the other side. Umkhonto missile uses an IR homing which guides the missile to the target and the missile will then lock-on. The umkhonto is engineered to swing to any angle to pursue the target. Believe it or not. |

agaugust: Wonder how are you going to shoot that umbani with your radar jammed by our electronic warfare and self defence system. We will put you in a very bad position at night. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 2:33am On Sep 30, 2013 |
agaugust: . Hehehehe!! Yes a Roland missiles are still very potent at night when its radar is still fully functional, but the problem only comes when its radar is jammed to send wrong information through the use of (EW) electronic warfare system and self-protection system http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/sa-defence-company-wins-indian-helicopter-electronic-warfare-contract-2013-09-25. Not all fighters are fitted with this system and South African defence company, Grintek was recently fitting them on SU-27s and 30s and Eurofighters and has also won a contract last week in India to fit the system on HAL advance helicopters for Indian Airforce. Thanks God that all South African fighters are fitted with the system, including Rooivalk which had them fitted on by Grintek. The very same RAF defeated Roland by midnight operations. FACT!! Same as Iraq was defeated with their thousands of Rolands, but still air raid ensued. Believe it or not Roland Air defence system is the weakest Air defence system in the world. Infact, all Roland missiles have all reached their expiry date and are tagged " Buy at your own risk". I still stand by my word. Drill number one; Jam the radar system of Roland Drill number two: conduct your operation only at night and Drill number three: destroy all strategic defence installations, such as defence HQ, satellite communications stations, etc. The rest will be win and win and win. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 5:28am On Sep 30, 2013 |
Mike..ZA: Fighter Pilot: the technical answers to your foolish day dreaming are very simple. 1. Roland SAM does not operate alone. nigerian army operates air defence regiments. a mixture of Roland, Type 90, Bofors, Multi-barrel Shilka etc 2. Roland optical mode cannot be jammed like a radar can be jammed, go back read the many Roland sources i posted. 3. nigeria has 300 Roland missiles enough to shoot down all 60 south african jets and helicopters 5 times over and over again. 4. Roland does not expose itself to jamming, it operates under nigerian army air defence regiment that has electronic warfare counter measures to prevent jamming, nigeria just modernized all its air defence electronics with Israel and Indian technology last year 2012 ending/completing now 2013. 5. Britain's all powerful Royal Air Force could NOT destroy Argentina's Roland SAM in falkland war, the sources i posted says the British army had to defeat the Argentine army in ground battle and the Roland was captured intact. google it and learn war history. 6. south african slow 900 km/h speed Hawk jets and 300km/h Rooivalk helicopters challenging Roland SAM will be exposed to the 4,000 km/h supersonic speed PL-9 air to air missiles of Nigerian F-7 jets and properly roasted by the nigerian jet fighters. 7. south africa's 26 Gripen jets have ONLY ONE single air to air missile each as at today . south african air to air power is limited to only 25 shots fired in the form of ONLT 25 Iris-T missiles. 8. south africa is NOT a super power and does NOT have the American or NATO air power to carry out a SEAD to neutralize nigerian composite air defence systems. 9. no country has monopoly of jamming, you jam the enemy radars, the enemy too retaliates with anti-jamming devices. 10. stop thinking that the enemy you will fight in war, has his own hands tied to his back and his brain locked up in a box. he will retaliate and counter every attack you make with a counter attack. nigerian generals, admirals, air marshals all have world class multi-national training. 11. Otomat missile has in-built anti-jamming devices and so it escaped all American Navy warships missile and electronic defences to defeat the warships. America is 100 times more powerful than South Africa. 12. Roland SAM war history confirmed it shoots down bombs and all British bombs directed into its area were shot down together with the jet fighter that dropped the bombs. 13. Nigerian Type 90 anti-aircraft guns is also an anti-missile defence system and its ammunition is in thousands, more than enough to shoot down all south african Umbani guided bombs every time. Type 90 ammunition speed is about 4,000 km/h but umbani bomb speed is about 35km/h to 80 km/h. all the slow snail speed Umbani bombs will be shot down by nigerian army and wasted away. 14. Type 90 AAA guns have both radar and optical mode targeting and it operates side by side with Roland SAM as a team in the same nigerian army air defence regiments. both Roland and Type 90 do easily operate well at night with night vision optical sight infra-red targeting of all enemy aircrafts. 15. Umkhonto missile cannot stop Otomat missile that penetrated all American Navy anti-missile defences with 100% victory recorded. Umkhonto missile has NEVER been tested against a sea skimming anti-ship missile, but Otomat has been successfully tested against all jamming and shooting defences of the mighty American Navy and Otomat anti-ship missile defeated all the formidable defences. 16. Umbani bomb is NOT a magical weapon that will behave like a missile, Umabni remains a bomb forever. it is easy to shoot down, and usually they are used to attack stationary targets like roads and buildings. the 35km/h speed is too slow for attacking even a Toyota Camry driving at 100km/h. you need to wake up from your fantasy dreams of miracle and magic. 17. Gripen jet CANNOT carry Umbani, only the Hawk jet can. Gripen carries only Paveway guided bomb and all south africa has is only 50 Paveway bombs purchased from America. Hawk jet is easy to shoot down by deadly air defence systems like that of nigeria. 18. both Roland and Type 90 do easily operate well at night with night vision infra-red optical targeting of all enemy aircraft. 19. you south africans fight war on internet as if it is policemen chasing armed robbers on the streets of soweto. fools !!! 20. nigerian military commanders are all world class and have tactics to neutralize any attack from south africa and use nigerian weapons in the best way to defeat all south african armed forces. . 1 Like

Mike..ZA: You are an infant in the real matters of military discourse and you will remain so! Other than your expertise in cutting and pasting as well as your penchant for asking really dumb childish questions, you have added no value to the debates on this thread! No value! You expect me to tell you how criminals killed innocent people in your last 2 months? Well, it is the very same way your gangsters, robbers, rapists and criminals have killed several hundreds in South Africa in the past two months! That's the most befitting answer for you since you don't have substance in your skull! Idio.tic idio.t!! |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 11:54am On Sep 30, 2013 |
agaugust: I repeat, Roland radar system can be jammed easily and is not resistive because is using old technology. America tried to optimise Roland but soon that project was cancelled due to the high costs of having to modify. The Grintek has all the technology available to jam Roland. FACT!!! Your Roland optical mode cannot function during the night because everything has to be done manually. You will only run the risk of wasting all your purported 300 Roland missiles. FACT!! Visit your nearest airforce base and ask them they will confirm this to you. All Roland missiles have reached their expiry dates, hence there is a high possibility of almost 80% that they may not function to their full capacity. Your Air defence artillery guns, mofors et al you cannot use against high- speed fighters like Griffins, those are not helicopters and you will die a miserable death. With regard to a dogfight, NAF knows well that they do not have the muscle to challenge SAAF on the air. That will be their death trap. 1 Like |

Looking back at my past comments you'd see how it has neatly been a chronicling of SA's overrated credentials and capacity to do the business of real military engagement on the continent or elsewhere. Beyond flaunting shiny weapons it is evident that lack of scientifically minded and intelligent personnel in SANDF is the greatest weakness that a determined enemy army can exploit to dent or destroy the SANDF in war. Where there are no educated minds the workforce is as vulnerable as the shiny weapons. This point is clearly observed in the non-challance of your personnel at security, intelligence and warfare training activities organised to help SA's security forces become better in the work of defending South Africa's territorial integrity. The extract below is a clear case of taking a horse to the water, but not being able to force it to drink. When serious brainwork is involved South African's will always chicken-out of pending embarrassment. Where then is their patriotism by their refusal to attend such very important training programmes? NaijaPikinGidi: Yet inexperienced FighterPilot and infant Mike..ZA want to tell us how to use intelligence tactics in Anti-Terrorism and combat planning/strategy for our SoE operations in the North East of Nigeria? I say again we are dealing with the insurgents. Deal with yours before it becomes a South African national house on fire. |

agaugust: I hate people who do not move with time. The first phase of A-Darter project has been completed and SAAF has large quantities of A-Darter in stock starting from this year and the final phase which was also expected to be completed this year was postponed to next year. You must move with times or otherwise you will encounter booby traps. It is not only super powers who have the monopoly to jam the weapon systems of other countries. Over the years SA has been leading Africa in terms of military technology and we have even developed weapons of those so called Superpowers with our indigenous technology. The anti-jamming system must be integrated on the weapon per se and South Africa with all its defence technology which has also been integrated in British gunships has the capacity to jam Roland. Infact, Roland is nothing. I wonder how would the mighty American Navy be defeated by just an otomat. What is in this otomat that is so special that you cannot even tell us other than its a sea skimming missile with can stoop to 2m above the sea level. You argued with us when we told you that Umkhonto can stop otomat, you disagreed and then you demanded a source. We provided a source and you further dived to a new argument. It seems that whenever you are beaten in one argument you jump into another. I don't know what do you understand by 360degree or all round defence, but anyway Umkhonto is the first missile to have such characteristics in the whole world, no wonder you find it hard to believe. SA made missile does not behave like other missile, for example Mokopa is ATGM but can also be used as Anti-shipping missile or Air to surface missile. Same as Umkhonto which is classified as a SAM but does not act like one because it movement is controlled by IR homing and lock-on mechanism. Lastly, Roland has got such a poor history, of all the countries which had large quantities of it on stock in war have only managed to shoot one or two jets. It was expected to perform better no wonder Sadam Hussain's also dumped it after great disappointments. 1 Like |

agaugust: Hehehehe! Hehehehe! hehehehe! Hehehehe!! How the hell did you make me laugh that way, there is no so called night vision optical mode in all Roland that still exist in world other than those that America tried to modify but the project was later cancelled. Trust me I have worked with missiles at saldanha. Optical mode of Roland require a brought daylight to operate. so that you can align its infra-red gonoimetre to the right angle with respect to the target. Radar is the only mode that can shoot at night because it pick up the target automatically. Bahahahahaha!! Bahahahaha!!! @ Agaugust. Rolands are old dinosaurs!!! You know my colleagues just laughed the hell off when I showed them this Agaugust so called night vision optical mode of Roland. Hehehehe!! Hehehehe!! whenever @Agaugust loses he won't back down but will come with lies. Your Generals might have acquired multinational training but that will not help them, because with the kind of weapons they have it might not be that easy. The evidence is right there in your backyard with the war against BH which seems to prove very tough for their foreign acquired skills which upto so far have never proved to work. It is no secret that Nigerian armed forces are poorly equipped in relation to their total strength. Your navy has only one warship and who do you think you can defeat with just a single warship or even two of them. Otomat or not wuth such you cannot stop South African Navy that will only exist in your small skull. You will need more ships to achieve such. 2 Likes |

agaugust:How many missiles does your Roland carry in ready to fire?. Show me where a missile was used to destroy a smart bomb. Nigeria has 16 launchers, against 24 Hawks each carrying 4 bombs. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 10:16pm On Sep 30, 2013 |
agaugust:1. Your Roland can't track a Rooivalk among trees or buildings(NOE) 2. Without a Radar AA gun crews won't see a smart bomb flying towards them dropped 40km away 3. Smart Bombs are laser guided meaning they can attack moving targets 4. Your Type 90 AA guns have never been tested against a smart bomb 5. Your artillery regiments can destroyed by artillery guided by special forces or Ratels. 6. Nigeria's single warship can be sunk by a torpedo from one of SAN's submarine 7. 2 squadron's sole Cheeter R was developed for recce missions 8. As we today Nigeria's army is failing to protect its citizens and won't go to war. 9. Nigeria going to war would mean it will withdrew its fighter jets from the mission against BH to focus on the well organised enemy. 10. Leaving a security vacuum which BH will easily use against that country 11. Nigeria attacking SA would mean they won't have jets to protect their shore, resulting in all Nigerian ships sunk. 12. You can't claim Nigerian commanders are world, cause non of them have ever been to a war. Non of them have as much combat as the likes of the SANDF deputy chief of the army. 13. Nigeria lacks modern warfare experience, that why a minefield can stop your army. |

Your 33% brain capacity seems to have denied you the needed capacity to read the links provided. While the situation in Nigeria is a process under military control ... So sad that rather than protect public property the Kenyan Defence Force soldiers had field days looting the deserted Shops at the Westgate Mall. Not a good way to empathise with the victims of the attack! ================================= Kenya Mall Vendors Suspect Looting Shops plundered during terrorist attack By Charlotte Alter @charlottealter | Sept. 30, 2013 Read more: http://world.time.com/2013/09/30/kenya-mall-vendors-suspect-looting/ Shopkeepers in Nairobi’s Westgate Mall returned to their stores Monday after the bloody four-day militant siege to find their inventories plundered and display cases smashed, but they’re not blaming the gunmen who killed dozens before finally being subdued. Instead, many vendors think it was the Kenyan Security Forces who looted their stores, the Associated Press reports. Kenyan Security Forces cordoned off the mall as soon as the attack began on Sept. 21, and only security officials and government personnel were allowed in and out of the mall. Since the attack, alcohol has disappeared from restaurants, jewelry cases have been smashed, and cash registers were emptied. This isn’t the first time poorly-paid Kenyan Security Forces have been accused of stealing from property they’re supposed to protect. There were also reports of looting during the major fire at Nairobi’s main airport in August. Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku confirmed the thefts in a news conference on Sunday. “Those responsible for looting will be prosecuted,” Lenku said. But storekeepers will have to report their losses to the Kenyan Security Forces. |
