Thank you my brother,affidavit of support is all about petitioner his SSN,Tax, income...90% of winners will never get that, so people should stop aggrevating issues.If you asked that from your host, he may not pick up his phone again.That was my experience last year.

Excluding DV Applicants is clearly written in brackets and i think this settles all arguments on "affidavit of support".

LETS TAKE IT EASY..GUYS ...READ ALL INSTRUCTION VERY WELL BEFORE MAKING DEDUCTIONS
Diversity Visa Program - Visas provided are drawn from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S. Unlike other immigrant types, Diversity Visas (DV) do not require a U.S. sponsor, and therefore a petition is not needed.

@Leripa
Step 2 - After the immigrant petition has been approved (excluding DV applicants) by USCIS,

then the next step is preliminary processing for a visa with the Department of State, National Visa Center.

Visit Immigrant Visa Processing – the National Visa Center for information related to:

1.Affidavit of Support
2.Required applicant documents (i.e. birth certificates, police reports, marriage/divorce certificates, etc.)
3.Medical Exam/Panel physician information
4.Interviews

The Phrase excluding (excluding DV applicants)as used in this context only reffered to the approval and processing by USCIS & NVC.
All the requirement above(1-4)applies to all immigrant Visa Applicant....The Only Difference is what type either I-864 used by all other classes of IV except DV or the I-134(Which MAY be used by a DV IV Applicant on very exceptional condition when the CO feel the person might become a public charge.(NOTE THE WORD MAY...IT IS VERY SUBJECTIVE TO THE INTERPRETATION OF THE CO)

@ADESOJI...FROM THE LINK YOU POSTED INSTRUCTION FOR DV-2012 ....CHECK QUESTION 33 and the ANSWER

33.IF I AM SUCCESSFUL IN OBTAINING A VISA THROUGH THE DV PROGRAM, WILL THE U.S. GOVERNMENT ASSIST WITH MY AIRFARE TO THE UNITED STATES, PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LOCATE HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT, PROVIDE HEALTHCARE, OR PROVIDE ANY SUBSIDIES UNTIL I AM FULLY SETTLED?
No, applicants who obtain a DV are not provided any type of assistance such as airfare, housing assistance, or subsidies. If you are selected to apply for a DV, you will be required to provide evidence that you will not become a public charge in the United States before being issued a visa. This evidence may be in the form of a combination of your personal assets, an Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) from a relative or friend residing in the United States, and/or an offer of employment from an employer in the United States.

Hello guys, with the vaccination, the smartest way to go about it is to contact any of the authorized doctors and they can tell you with authority what vaccine you need or otherwise. If you are a DV winner, then you will need a vaccine any way so why not do yourself the service of even contacting an authorized doctor recognized by the embassy to get this vaccination thing sorted out.

Secondly with the issue of affidavit there no better way than our brother Temmy said it. Let us all wait and only contact the embassy for clarity after you receive your 2NL. That will help you better than debating it out here.

And by the way did anyone get his/her 2NL yet. The 15th August date is long overdue.

Thanks to you all.

Gentiger: Please I need everyone to make an input here. A fellow got denied because he couldn't provide sufficient proof of funds and had no affidavit of support from a legal resident or citizen.

I have heard people say you don't need affidavit of support, Form 134 precisely. In line with this fellows experience, is it wise to tell people they don't need it? Don't you all think this little piece of document is very crucial?

MR GENTIGER...THE BIBLE SAYS INVESTIGATE ALL ISSUES AND THEN HOLD ON TO THE ONE WHICH IS THE TRUTH.....

See below additional information for you...http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/denials/denials_1361.html

1.Why was I refused under INA section 212(a)(4)? What is meant by “public charge”?

Visa applicants need to satisfy this provision of law by demonstrating proof of adequate financial support in the United States. A visa refusal, or ineligibility, under section 212(a)(4) of the INA means that the consular officer determined that you are likely to become a public charge in the United States. Public charge means that the consular officer determined that you are likely to become primarily dependent on the U.S. government for your existence and financial support in the United States.

2.Is a refusal under section 212(a)(4) permanent?

A refusal, or ineligibility, under section 212(a)(4) can be overcome in certain circumstances, as explained below.

Immigrants - Most immigrant visa applicants are required to submit an Affidavit of Support (Form I-864, I-864A, I-864W, or I-864EZ, as applicable) from the U.S. sponsors who filed petitions for them. If your U.S. sponsor does not meet the requirements of the Affidavit of Support, you may present a second Affidavit of Support from a qualifying joint sponsor. Learn more about the Affidavit of Support.

Some categories of immigrant visa applicants are not required to have Affidavits of Support. These are categories where no U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident relative filed a petition on your behalf, including most employment-based immigrants and diversity visa (DV) applicants.

If you are applying for an immigrant visa category where the Affidavit of Support Form is not required, the following are examples of how you could demonstrate to the consular officer that you will have financial support in the United States:

•Your own personal funds;
•A job offer in the United States; and/or
•Sponsorship from a U.S. resident.

Examples of sponsorship from a U.S. resident include:

•A letter from the U.S. resident stating financial support of you while in the United States;
•Documents showing that the U.S. resident can financially support you, such as bank statements or pay stubs; and/or
•An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134).

The consular officer will review the additional evidence of financial support you submit to determine whether it is sufficient to overcome your ineligibility under section 212(a)(4).

In order to overcome a denial for public charge reasons, you must demonstrate you will have sufficient financial support in the United States. The consular officer will review the additional evidence you submit to determine whether it is sufficient to overcome your ineligibility under section 212(a)(4).

The Presence or absence of a single factor cannot be the sole criteria for determining inadmissibility as a public charge.At a minimum,A Consular officer must consider the following factors when making a public charge determination:

Age
Health
Family status
Assets
Resources
Financial status
Education and skills

That is the reason why they said you must have 5 credits at O Level so that u can secure a job or have relevant trade experience that can pay your bill.Read further in link below
