Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Meadow Hall School Graduate Teachers Trainee Programme 2013 by auntytee: 11:56am On Nov 08, 2013
Really contradicting! But does it really make sense? (Jst saying). How can you be invited for a tes just to end up being trainned. Not that there's a fee attached to it. What confuses me most is what their gain could be for trainning graduates, with a 2:1 for that matter. Could it be that they are also consultants for other schools or what?... Jst thinking aloud
Sunavico: Thanks for sharing this vital info. However, this contradicts what some people have written about the trainee programme earlier on this thread.I guess ur own submission is the latest as far as I'm concerned. All the same, let me give it a trial.

@OP, I feel she's still too young for you to have marriage intensions. A girl of 17, no matter how matured u think she is not certain of what she wants in man(speaking from experience). She'll definately come back in a couple of yrs to say she sees you more like a brother than a husband material (jst like someone else has stated). I feel you can date her, groom her in the best possible way, until she is old enough to make her decisions. Cos she'll definately will.

Politics / Wikileaks Exposed Secret Of Dangote Wealth, the Cabal And Others by auntytee: 5:46pm On Oct 18, 2013
The named Alike Dangote, in Nigeria, African and the rest of the world means entrepreneur and commodities tycoon. Recently the released of Forbes world most richest person in the world rank Nigeria entrepreneur and commodities tycoon, 40th richest person in the world. Richer than Russian richest man and Indian richest man.

About few days ago pan African magazine Ventures African ranked him as Number 1 richest black man in African continents over the rest of  others 54 billionaires in African. But the truth about it success  secret was recently exposed by International online, non-profit organisation which publishes secret information, news leaks, and classified media from anonymous sources — WikiLeaks which is owned by Julian Assange. WikiLeaks describe Alike Dangote, as person  operating a “Beggar-thy-countrymen” ie-  get rich by turning Nigerians into beggars, business model.

WikiLeaks , Furthers says that the government enforced and encourage monopolies and the destruction of all competition. Aliku Dangote, the embodiment of corruption itself, establishes himself in unimaginable wealth, and then buys press to placate the masses by making them believe that a few ‘slave-labor’ employments and charities define him as different, patriotic and benevolent. Contrary to popular narration, Dangote did not invest in Nigeria, Dangote uses Nigeria. Nigeria’s governments deposited the nations resource in Dangote.

FROM TRADING TO MANUFACTURING — THE DANGOTE AND GON (Government Of Nigeria)
SHARED DREAM

Classified By: Consul General Brian Browne
——————————————— ——–

¶7. (C) Dangote’s shift toward manufacturing accords with the GON’s nationalistic economic policies, which place a premium on domestic manufacturing and production. What we don’t know is whether Dangote and others like him helped drive the policy or whether their actions were driven by the government policy. Reality is probably a mixture of both.

¶8. (C) In part, because of this shared dream, the Government has been very supportive of Dangote. We know the company at one time or another held exclusive import rights in sugar, cement, and rice using such advantages to do volume business and undercut competitors. In a December 1996 interview, Aliko Dangote admitted that a government mandate once forced him to import so much rice that the local market crashed by almost 80 percent. The direction of GON trade barriers also suggests preferential treatment. High tariffs or outright bans on imported items favor the Group in nearly all areas in which they do business including wheat flour, cement, certain textiles, sugar and pasta.

¶9. (C) Further, the GON is normally slow in privatizing state-owned production facilities. Yet the Dangote Group swiftly won bids on GON-owned manufacturing installations such as the Benue Cement Company and the Savannah Sugar Company, and constructed its own berth at GON-owned Apapa port in Lagos where ships with production inputs offload directly at the Dangote Group factory.

Education / Chaos As Nans Close Down Onitsha Bridge; Demands Re-opening Of Nigerian Universi by auntytee: 5:34pm On Oct 18, 2013
News just reaching the desk of Nigeria Weekly Standard has it that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has barricaded the Asaba-Onitsha Bridge demanding for the re-opening of Nigerian Universities. We hear the protest is peaceful but motorists have been barred from movement and they threaten to continue the blockage that would now include other major highways like the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos if status quo does not change. The Asaba-Onitsha Bridge is a major link between the east and west and this could cause great chaos.

Meanwhile ASUU members in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) engaged in another peaceful protest in Enugu today.

salsera: to the lady that mentioned accommodation costs in central london, I dont think you got realistic estimates

If its central london aka zone1/2 then the rent is 650 and more and that's likely without bills for a studio. If it is inclusive of bills then you would be sharing with 4-6 people
typically school accommodation private hostels goes from 850-1200 inclusive bills and internet

the 500pounds is typically from zone3 outwards and is UNLIKELY to be with bills and if it is inclusive then you'll be living in a shoe box and sharing bathrooms with again 3-5people.

Note british rooms are typically small with very little space.

So if you are schooling in london be prepared and get parttime(weekend job cos of school work) so as to make up for the deficit.
Note the closer you live to school the less you spend on transport, in fact walking distance to school is better.
So you'll notice that those who take hostel accomodation at an expensive price claim that money back from little or no transport costs.

Please check tfl website for transport costs and google search for accommodation in zones 1-6 to give you a good idea of what you are going to face. Similarly download the tfl tube map it will give you an idea of distance.

thanks a bunch. I'll do just that

I intend to commence my masters programme in january. Please can any give any accurate details on University of westminster?... From what I have bn reading on this thread, I understand that living in london as a student is a bit or rather more expensive than the other cities. But this seem to be one of the few schools willing to offer a place for my course in january.

*I'll like to know the average cost of renting an apartment in central london, close to the school precisely.
*is there a high population of black race? (Its my first time)
*wht will it cost on living expenses?.. (I'm not so much of a "spendaholic".

Any piece of information will be highly appreciated.
