Obatide: I came across these tips for succesful interview and feel it could help some of us,
kindly discuss to have it edited, addition or subtraction

Tips for interview
1. Wear formal clothes as if for a formal business meeting. The interviewing officer will always be an American (the interpreter if required may be local). If possible the man should wear a tie. Americans always appreciate formal attire, so they will not find you over-dressed if you wear a tie.
2. Arrive early. You don't want to miss your interview just because you got stuck in traffic.
3. Do not get nervous. Be confident. You will be more confident if you have prepared thoroughly. Smile when you meet the visa officer for the first time. Don't show signs of nervousness such as flickering of eyes, trembling of fingers as that could go against you. Look into the eyes of the officer while speaking.
4. Both candidates should greet the officer with a smile and a "good morning", as soon as you enter the interview booth.
5. Both candidates should have a confident posture and look at the interviewing officer straight in the eyes throughout the interview.
6. Be confident in your answers, whatever you say. Make short, clear, to-the-point replies, in a loud and clear voice. Do not tell anything that is irrelevant or not asked. By mistake, you may give some unnecessary information that may lead to your rejection.
7. Be polite, do not argue and do not ask unnecessary or unrelated questions. Do not unnecessarily elaborate your responses as this may not work in your favor.
8. Demonstrate respect in your language even if you don't feel this is being reciprocated.
9. Often times you might not understand what the interviewing officer is saying because of his/her American accent and/or the microphone system. If you do not understand one of their sentences do not feel afraid to say, 'beg your pardon; I did not understand you.' If he/she repeats the question and you still do not understand, that is not a problem, do not panic. Calmly and confidently say, sorry sir/madam. I still did not understand you. Could you kindly repeat what you said?
10. If you know English, it is preferable to have the interview in the English so that you and consular officer can understand the each other. Interpreters mess up sometimes.

Wishing everybody due for interview all the best
Well said. These are great tips indeed. God bless u. Wishing everyone of us waiting to b current and those that already are a successful interview in Jesus name.

Greetings! None of these errors poses a disqualification. They're all pretty common errors, actually. As long as you have a high school education or better, and are not otherwise ineligible, these discrepancies will not negatively affect your application. Good luck!

Bt what of if I have birth certificate from the hospital I was born,do I still need 2 go 2 court 4 affidafit?
Yes. Even when u have a. Birth certificate, so long as its not NPC's, u'll have to get one from them.
Travel / Re: DV 2014 Winners Meet Here by ewhoma(f): 1:37pm On Oct 23, 2013
yes, we have to go to the court to swear an affidavit. its one of the requirements there @ NPC. cos if u go there without the affidafit, they will still refer u back to go get one from a court. so its better u get an affidafit b4 going to NPC.

For those of us above 18years, do we have to go to the federal high court first? i though we'll just have to go to the NPC office at surulere with 2 passport photographs.. please I need an answer

16k for what? My brother, don't be cheated. The highest u can pay for attestation (and that's for express, within 3days) is 6k. I even paid 4k and collected it within 3 working days. Just go to a Federal high court, do an affidavit for birth attestation, which will cost u highest, 1k, depending on d person doing it for u though. Then take it to d National Population Council with 2 passport photographs.

I really admire your sacrifice on this forum sir. May God almighty continue to bless u. Could u pls help me with these? Thank u. I am a 2014 DV winner by God's grace. N I recently discovered I made these mistakes on my DSP forms sent to KCC.
1) In my DS-230 form, I made a mistake of filling "ABC International College" instead of "ABC Secondary School", because that was the name of the sch as @ the time I wrote the exams there and didn't take note that they had changed the name and that its what's written on the certificate, as I only spent 1yr there for a re-sit after my 6yrs high sch exams. Also, I made a mistake in its date because I wasn't with my documents as @ d time I filled and sent those forms. Reason being that I am presently doing my 1year compulsory National Youth Service in a state far from home, and where all my documents are.
2)in that same certificate NECO, my middle name was spelt in full Ewhomazino while in the rest of my documents, i have shortened it to Zino because of its length. Aside my WAEC result which carries just my first and last name, the rest carries Zino as my middle name.
3) I also made a typographic error in my permanent address in d US. Instead of 608, I wrote 605.
NB: I filled another DSP forms with the correct info after I had mailed KCC, explaining my mistakes, in which they responded that I should refill d forms with d correct info and re send, which I did. About a month later, I called to confirm, but the lady that answered said she isn't sure they got the corrected forms I sent. And she advised I should just go for my interview with the corrected forms on my interview day. Pls, what do u think is the best thing for me to do here and i hope all these errors and shortening of my middle name isnt going to be a threat to me during my interview?
Thanks for your anticipated response sir.

Day 1:
8am-at the medical centre Naples I did all the required stuff and vaccination (2 vaccines)
2pm- at the General consulate for digital fingerprints.Went through security checks and then we were ushered in.Getting inside,I took my sit and waited for my number to be called and after 10 minutes "number 5, numero 5" I heard, immediately I stood up and walked to the window. "Passport and interview letter please" she asked ; quickly I submitted them. She looked at the passport and the computer and she talked to her colleague then she turned to me saying "I'm sorry we technically can't take your fingerprints today because we don't have authorization yet from the U.S, tomorrow please come 7:30am and we will do it before your interview."
Day 2: 6:45am I arrived at the General consulate looking at the Mediterranean sea with U.S. soldiers outside patrolling around the consulate looking for the next bin laden; we went through same security protocols and finally in the hall again with 16 persons and I was the only African and the only dv winner so I was the first to be approved in Italy this fiscal year.
I took my sit and waited for my number to be called and it got to my turn I submitted the documents and she asked if I had any document from my university fortunately I was with my student handbook for credits exams and grades registration. She took it and then we did the fingerprints and she gave me an envelope(containing medical results and x-ray in a disc ) coming from the medical centre saying " give this to the officer when you get to the U.S. " .I went further with the payment of the visa fee which was 264 EUR and then I took my sit again. The interview started and it seems pregnant women and families with babies were called first.
finally it got to my turn and I stood up approaching the window I thought I saw Peter crouch because they look similar.I did fingerprints again and then the oath.

@EWHOMA I sent my forms in June and it got they received it on June 24. and my case number is 3*** is there any date again that they would release before this month ends?
Just like Zeelez said, there is no specific date set aside for 2NL, only update of bulletin which is 10th of every month, so none for dis month again until nxt month. And with ur CN, u ordinarily should hav received ur 2NL by nw for OCT interview, bt due to d time u sent ur forms.....so, just keep checking ur email, cos it could be sent @ any time. Peace.

Boomshakar: When i called Kcc on Friday last week. They ask me to check my mail periodically that my forms are received and are under processing. But pls is it everyday they are releasing 2NL or there are certain dates? Can you pls let me know when the one for this month ending would be released? Thanks for your good response.
The Visa bulletin is being updated on d 10th of every month. And ur case number also determines when u will be scheduled for interview, hence ur 2NL. As of now, only those that fall between 01 and 7,500 are current for October and November respectively. Now, when u submitted ur documents also plays an important role in this because if for example, ur Case Number falls within the ones that has been released and u'v just sent ur forms (which takes several weeks to process), u won't b sent a 2NL until ur forms has been proccessed. So, I'll advice u keep checking ur email like they said. Goodluck.

Good morning Forumites!
I salute o!! Let me use this opportunity to thank every one on this forum who has contributed in any form to give knowledge and enlightenment to me and others. From the depth of my heart, I say THANK YOU!
Firstly, I will like to inform you all that I finally ported from Nigeria to Virginia with my whole family. I stay with my host in Woodbridge city, Prince William County. Although, we are still settling down, waiting for our green card; but I thank God that our social security number landed within 1 week. Settling down is slow and gradual. We came in through Turkish airlines with a 7 hours stop over at Istanbul and landed at the Washington Dulles International Airport. We were told by our host that we could apply for free meal and health insurance for our kid(s) via www.pwcs.menus.schoolfusion.us\. We are yet to secure employment, since we are still settling down.
Could someone please help answer this question:
Is there any future negative implication of taking this opportunity of this "free free things"? e.g. someone said, when applying for citizenship or loans or some other benefits, one may be denied because of this initial benefits. How true is this? Although, the person who told me said that that is how it works in U.K.?
My bro, I'll advice u do proper findings b4 applying for any free food and d likes if that's the case o. Judging by what u said, he gave u d advice based on hw it is done in the UK. Fill another one on line ( I mean that page), print it write ur case number on it then scan it and send it via email to KCC explaining ur error in the earlier sent forms. Ensure u use ur Surname, date of birth n case number as reference in ur mail to KCC. Then wait for an acknowledgment from them.
