Wow.... I Must say that I have missed alot. Got here like 3 weeks ago and just recently settled in (Uottawa). For those on their way please and please buy only thick cloths. I found out the hard way although you still have to buy from here anyways just come prepared. These people are very welcoming and nice, imagine when I arrived the hotel i was to stay in only accept credit cards so i had to find an alternative, a taxi driver/stranger found out I was a newbie and i was cold(shivering) "3cloths+one jacket" so he drove to his house, gave me 3 winter jackets and later his number to call for anything, he carried my luggages for free from d hotel to my new apartment, gave me a bed, couch and said i should come later for his tv, that's one out three people I have met like that. So if you really wanna come I think you should it's a beautiful place filled with beautiful minds. I pray for all awaitees and hopefuls that God will make a way for them and their visas will be granted and we that are here may God crown our efforts IJN.Amen. You guys are a blessing and I hope to give back more than what i gained.I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance. cheers 27 Likes 3 Shares |

realone01: Be advised, u will be tested for HIV along with others. You must sign a consent form given to you by the hospital and from what I read on the form HIV, All Hepatitis many others will be tested. They even said if any injury occurs during ur medics they (cic and the hospital) shall not be liable. What I don't know is if they deny based on positive outcomes of the diseases mentioned. |

toecyne: Don't give yourself unnecessary headache. Provided u have enough funds for the duration of your program of study you shouldn't worry much about employment since you recently just graduated. You can put whatever you are doing now under current activity, NYSC and IT under past employment. |

skylar2020: For an application that has been submitted, and the deadline of the fees Nov 5th, can I pay d tuition fees and email the receipt to the embassy, if there is no message to go for medicals yet. YES, pay your tuition before the deadline because after the deadline has passed you will be charged extra for not paying on time. And there is no need to email the embassy the receipt except if it is requested for by them. But if you insist on the email, use ACCRAIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca for paper AND lagos@international.gc.ca for online. |

Kepner: I am not completely sure, i made my research online and Nigeria was among countries that require transit visa if travelling thru the UK but as oga siga had said since u hold a Canadian study visa u might not require one. My advice, walk into their office in Lagos and make further enquiries. |

WESTERNCR: thanks but what about the school's condition of setting out a deadline for payment otherwise the student will forfeit his or her seat for the program If there is a deadline for you to make payments. please make the deposit or full payment before the deadline even if you haven't gotten your TRV. There is no point if after getting your TRV you can't go to school. |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Holmes007: 11:26pm On Oct 01, 2014 |
WESTERNCR: Hello good people in the house. I just wanna ask, is it compulsory for prospective student to pay tuition deposit before applying for TRV? and in case no deposit was paid, does it have any effect on the out of the TRV application? No, it is not compulsory to make part/full tuition payment before applying for TRV. As for effects, i wouldn't know because the issuance of visa in on a case by case basis. |

My sincere advice to recent TRV choppers. if you plan to travel by Nov/Dec and you haven't booked your flight ticket or maybe you are waiting till a week to when you wanna travel. DONT TRY IT! cus the tickets will be expensive then except of course you are very rich. Imagine flying to Canada with less than N150k via Ethopia and less than 200k via BA and KLM(Booking through their official website). Out of curiosity, i went to 2 travel agencies to see if i can get cheaper rates but to my dismay, their charges were higher than that of the official carrier/airline. imagine one "ASKARI" charged me N2.4mill!... lol For some Airline like BA and KLM, it is cheaper now if you book return ticket online (lets say you depart Nov/Dec 2014 and Return May 2015). Note: its not compulsory to come back by that may 2015 oh. For those who dont have a US or UK Visa, avoid route through the USA and UK since one requires a Transit Visa. Finally, if your TRV is at hand, book now, and for all awaitees', immediately you Chop please book on time as well so as to save some cash. I am beginning to feel like i should have booked a month ago when my visa was approved maybe i would have booked a ticket for less than N100k 2 Likes |

Jaydenehis: Ha,are you serious?i stated it in mine o. Please should I edit that part out? No need to re-edit anything, so far as the sentence makes sense, u r good. My friend and i literally stated it on our SOP and it flew. For instance, u can say " After i complete my graduate program, i would return to Nigeria with my newly developed and sophisticated ideas not only to make a positive impact on the various segments of the Nigerian govt but be a landmark for upcoming (engineers/ur field)............" OR "Upon completion my Master's program and arrival back to Nigeria, I would make a meaning contribution, utilizing my international exper, ................ " and so on and so forth.... The main thing is for you to be very constructive and frank(straight to the point). i hope this helps..... 2 Likes 1 Share |

Yy Jaydenehis: I am tired of arguing .. I work with immigration. I know what I am saying. Please every command is different. I was only trying to give my advice since it is my field. Read my other comments, dont u think it is better to ask which commands you can do it than argue? I didn't start working there yesterday and no, I am not a junior officer at all. I am actually the 2nd in charge in my section. This is directed at your comment that your folks contacted senior officers. Many people in this forum are vast in knowledge in their various fields and are here because they don't like the working condition in Nigeria hence the need to relocate. I have received a lot of useful advice from this forum and even experts in visa applications marvel when they hear the kind of positive and useful advice I get from here. We are all here to get advice and help others. Thanks I am not arguing with you nor saying that you are not an Official. I replied based on a friend's experience and how she went through the whole passport scenerio. i dont know it all and i am not here to argue with anyone. |

Jaydenehis: Hi, Trust me, my friend did all the convincing she could when she wanted to apply in July, her passport was more than 9 months valid but wanted a 2yrs study visa. Her parents even called top officials for help but they all said the same thing; WRITE A LETTER! she had to go to Abuja to renew it. There is no need to stress the issue. The applicant should go to the nearest NIS around to make enquiries. 2 Likes |

PlayPays: For peeps that hold a passport which has less than 6months validity; they should kindly go to the nearest immigration office around and renew their passport. For peeps that hold a passport in which its validity is more than 6months and will not cover their period of study in Canada; they are required to write a letter to the director-general of NIS at Abuja stating why they need a new passport. They should also attach their admission letter with the letter OR simply renew at Canada when its about to expire. 1 Like |

Kabosky1956: Hello my fellow TRV choppers, please I need a little help here. I will advice u to add the tuition + other expenses already paid plus what you have = funds available for my stay in Canada. I.e 20951+6660+8340+"money at hand in canada"= available funds in Canada. Note: make sure the bank statement u submit covers the total amount u input. |

To all new peeps that already have their admission letter and are ready to apply for the Canadian study permit, i urge u to thourougly go through this checklist (especially for paper route aspirants) because it is really the first step to knowing what is required and not. U can always come here to ask questions if u r not sure of something. Here is the link; http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/53_1.aspx?lang=eng Note: this checklist is strictly for Nigerian applicants only. |

Submitted d first 2 app forms but one of my referees (academic) is yet to fill d form, turns out she's computer semi-literate and ever busy plus I'm tired of calling her. Wanna ask d prog coordinator for d schools for a change of referee. Would dis have a negative effect on my applications? No it wouldnt. scabit: @ Holomes n other gurus in the house, re u telling me dat a letter of sponsorship must be incluided ( only for fixed deposit).despite it is stated on the Soa of the sponsor. Thanks! I dont really understand your question. But, since u r not sponsoring urself, ur sponsor should provide an afidavit of sponsorship along with d letter of sponsorship/reference letter either u r submitting only SOA or SOA and fixed deposit. Note: u can submit one out of d two or preferably submit both the letter of sponsorship and the afidavit. There is a checklist for applicants who apply for study permit outside Canada. Kindly go through this checklist thoroughly. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/53_1.aspx?lang=eng 1 Like |
