zeefa:

U guyz should understand that there are differences btw student visa and TRV visas to canada. If you have a student visa, at the point of entry in canada, you will be issued with study permit.

But in the case of TRV

Canadian Work Permits

Canada has some of the best employment opportunities of anywhere in the world. The country relies on a steady stream of immigrant workers who come both to work and to live in Canada. This beautiful country attracts many thousands of people every month due to its booming economy and welcoming attitude,

A Canada work permit is a well-known stepping stone to residency and applications for visas of this kind are designed to help Canadian employers who are finding it difficult to fill positions with Canadian permanent residents or Canadian citizens. However, we aim to ensure your Work Permit can act as a stepping stone to Citizenship.

Applying for a Canadian working permit makes provision for working in Canada without the need to undergo a points based assessment. Canadian work permits allow you to work in the country; however, they are dependent upon a job offer from a sponsoring company.

Working permits are not transferable, although you can apply for a Canadian visa for immigration of another type during your stay. Whilst in Canada, immigration status can only be altered in this way so long as your permit is still valid.

Who is Eligible?

A Canada work permit rests upon a written job offer from an employer.

Once you have received such an offer, in most cases it is then subject to confirmation by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) who will assess the likely impact of employing a foreign national in the position in question, to ensure that the employment is genuine and that it will not impact negatively on the domestic labour market.

HRSDC

Once HRSDC confirms that job offers may be filled by foreign nationals, applicants may request Canadian working permits from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

Foreign workers seeking to work in Quebec will also require authorization from the Quebec immigration authorities.

Employers sponsoring a foreign national for a work visas in this way are responsible for ensuring that the candidate is in possession of the necessary permits and that they adhere to the appropriate conditions and limitations.

Further Criteria

For your case to be approved, you will have to supply evidence to the Canadian government that you are in good health and do not have any serious criminal convictions. This evidence will take the form of a medical examination and a full police report from your current country of residence.

A Path to a New Life in Canada

Work permits are a great way of getting that all-important work experience that you need to take the next steps in becoming a citizen. Although work permits are temporary, some people see them as an ideal route to a longer-term solution. One of our clients explains how this worked for him:

“Getting my Canada work permit was the first step for me becoming a citizen. I know that this is not what Work Permits are for but after working in Canada, I completely fell in love with the country. Originally, I contacted IXP to help me find work anywhere- I was simply desperate to find new opportunities away from home country. Then an opportunity arose in Canada, although it was only temporary. I decided to take my chances and soon enough I was working just outside of Edmonton. Once my permit was almost up, I called IXP again to see what they could do for me; I wanted to stay but didn’t know if I would be able to. Thanks to my new work experience in Canada, I was allowed to apply for a longer term visa once I had secured a new job offer. It took a lot of hard work but I knew that IXP were trying their best to find work for me. They put me in touch with a local employer who was willing to sponsor me and that led to me on the path to citizenship.”

Pls ready the above to kw better

SantohFilz: Hello, fellow nairalanders its been a long time. Pls I just want to ask that if there is any problem after applying for study permit for more than a month and you are yet to receive any mail from CIC concerning your application. Thanks.

No. Processing time is normally 4 - 6 months. Sometimes, even more. So you need not be worried.

Merry Christmas all. Do have a wonderful celebration.

Waiting for CDHC can really teach you new meanings to the word PATIENCE but Forbes lists Canada as the most reputable country in the world. USA ranks at 22. Another reason to understand its all worth the wait and effort after all!

marksum: House, plz when submitting ur passport back 2 d embassy are we to submit the recipt of the medix..plz I nid urgent ansa

No. You are not to submit the receipt of the medicals with your passport. The only thing required are the proof of payment of tuition and board (Thats if your medicals came with further instructions). Asides that, you need not submit anything else.

Joymaduka: I have collected. My package using my tracking number , I was denied and when I opened my package I saw my original documents but I dnt see my intl passport. The prob now is I already signed picked up my me. Before I opened it @ the cic now I was given an email addy to caontact them. What if dey deny ever seeing my passport,d stress of new passport + going to abuja nd police report, this feels like the end of the world cry

Its not the end of the world, well not yet. Write a letter to VfS with your full names, passport number, date of birth explaining that you passport wasnt in the package. There was no direct correspondence with the embassy so writing them might not be helpful. Its VFS responsibility to ensure that all documents are returned as they were submitted.

Oga ChriGo,
Abeg proffer solution to this issue abeg
-- do i need to inform the embassy that i was refused visa in 2007?

Yes. State that you were denied a visa in 2007, put the reference number and the section with 'Reasons for Denial", a simple Incomplete Documentation will do.

No need going into details about the refusal.

Has anyone had issues with their Throttle Position Sensors? Mine is failing and I need to get it changed. The problem now is if i should change the entire throttle body or just the sensors. The car stalls on acceleration with slow response and a rough gear change. I ran a scan and found the TPS is faulty. Anyone with a similar experience? Its a Honda Accord 2004, V6

smile13: @GboyegaD, 2-chains, Aduke02 and all, pls I just got a mail from CIC requesting for the original of my passport. One of the instructions is that my passport must be valid for the expected length of stay in Canada which in this case is a minimum of 24 months for my program. The issue is I have just about 11 months left on my passport. Pls what do I do? Many thanks for your anticipated response.

The limit for passport renewal is 6 months to expiry. My contacts at immigrations advised that to renew at 11 months, it will have to be done at the immigrations office in Abuja.

Please could you help me out with this two things?
1. info on Notarize document in lagos
2. How to get Police Character
3. Birth Certificate from National Population Commission (NPC)

All within Lagos preferable Mainland and Island

Thanks a lot

1. To notorize a document, go with the originals and a copy to the Federal High Court and ask where you can get it done. It shouldnt cost more that N300 per page. I had my documents done at the high court in Ikoyi.

2. The Police Character Certificate can be gotten from the SCID head quaters in Alagbon, Lagos. It costs between N3000 - N5000 and takes roughly 3hours for collection. When going, please carry along your international passport and 2 passport photographs.

3. The requirements for getting the birth cert from NPC:
Affidavit from high court(photocopy and original), passport photographs, means of identification, either copy of international passport, drivers license or national I.D. Owners name;Date of birth: Place of birth,Local govt of birth:
and Parents Name, Town, LGA, State of Origin.
