Politics / Re: 5 Reasons Why America Is Worse Than Nigeria by louchi: 3:13pm On Jul 23, 2011 |
Again, what is the quality of life of the average American compared to the average Nigerian? Remember that America's problem right now is acute, but that of Nigeria is chronic. wages from a low paying job is greater if not equivalent to that earned in civil service in naija, without benefits. sad but true. Dude, I'll just count my blessings if I were u. |
Politics / Re: 5 Reasons Why America Is Worse Than Nigeria by louchi: 2:51pm On Jul 23, 2011 |
I kinda get ur drift, but think 4 a min, how many people will take culture or personality reasons over economic gain and basic comfort. I'm sure u know the kind of opportunities available in the U.S. 95% of Nigerians will not agree with ur grounds of comparison. Scenario 4 ur mind:What is the likelihood of success in naija without "man no man" connections and with little money esp as a new immigrant. |

Politics / Re: Nigeria Spends N98 Trillion Importing Food Between 2007 And 2011 by louchi: 2:11pm On Jul 23, 2011 |
It reflects how productive a nation we are, sarcastically speaking of course. In the U.S organic food is expensive, processed food is cheap. The opposite obtains in Naija relatively. Solution: Diversify the economy: b4 oil there was agric= cash crops. This solution is not alien to our minds but we all know the fundamental problem is that Naija has lacked a keen pilot since independence. Anyway, my 2cents is to own a farm in the near future. |
Politics / Re: Why Can't Igbos Withdraw From The Enemy Territory? by louchi: 12:23am On Apr 22, 2011 |
Sentiments put aside, I still believe the southerners are potentialy capable of brainstorming a way forward. This will not be easy because various ethnic groups in the south have been stereotyped to be untrustworthy among themselves, BUT with a common goal and mentality to move forward, it might be feasible. I might not be in my home country but I'm still optimistic about its future. |
Politics / Re: The Hausas (an Alternate Pespective) by louchi: 10:41pm On Apr 21, 2011 |
yep, that says it all and proves my perception to be right. religion is keepin northerners in shackles, meaning they cant think for themselves anymore, hence the mob mentality. |
Politics / Re: Why Can't Igbos Withdraw From The Enemy Territory? by louchi: 10:25pm On Apr 21, 2011 |
I think the south should seperate from the north, and lets see who developes faster. one big factor to consider is that the north is more homogenous( muslims/hausa/fulani) while the south is totally not, but its more progressive. |
Business / Re: IMF Proposes Devaluation Of Naira by louchi: 2:09pm On Feb 20, 2011 |
Sun of god:spot on bro, when we have idiots ruling us, why wont we be kicked around like football by shady international agencies set up to maintain the status quo. Sometimes people need to research under what condition such agencies like IMF,ADB,UN etc were formed to understand the nitty gritty of policies they come up with. Nigeria lacks the bargaining power hence they accept most policies hook, line and sinker. All to the detriment of the nation as a whole. Let heads come together and lets figure out our way out of this mess, oh!! thats just a far fetched idea of mine. I dont think the executive know what brainstorming or critical thinking is all about, well to say the least thats what the west think of African govts. Shell claims to have an official in every ministry in Nigeria with out the govt even noticing, it doesnt get any more embarrasing than this. |
Business / Re: IMF Proposes Devaluation Of Naira by louchi: 4:20pm On Feb 19, 2011 |
The fear of IMF is the beginning of wisdom. Nigeria needs to fix the power problem and start exporting. Even with over a 100% inflation within 3yrs, Nigerians are still suffering and smiling. How long will a tree bend before it breaks? |
Music/Radio / Re: Asa Or Nneka? by louchi: 4:02am On Feb 14, 2010 |
I don't know about you all but I've been listening to Nneka for quite a while(07), before I ever got to know Asa. Nneka is passionate with her message, Asa has a more mature style to it. I've been waiting for Nneka to blow in the U.S,she's being underground touring for too long, being on letterman was a huge deal because of the exposure. anyways I've being blasting the song "gypsy" from her no longer at ease album, and she's the one I'm feeling right now. |

Beaf:bro, you might actually be wasting your time, nigerians have a lot to worry about than talk about issues americans are even ignorant about. good news, not everyone is a fool in this age of information. you have the right to research and anyone who cares to, will have a rude awakening of whats coming. |

Politics / Re: Why Are The Ibos Hell Bent On Claiming The Niger Delta Even Tho It Aint Theirs by louchi: 7:52pm On Jan 15, 2010 |
ziga:that last statement said it all, let Nigerians keep knocking their heads about oil. the west( who tap the oil) are laughing, asia is becoming a force to be reckoned with. ONCE UPON A TIME, nigeria was a vibrant economy without oil, it exporte cocoa, palm, groundnuts among other gifts of nature. now see were we are with oil. NAIRALANDERS is not a curse, we were foolish, and now our mentality is now criminal hence marginalism, tribalism, corruption and what have you. We ALL need to ponder on this harsh realism and start rebuilding, its never being about tribes, its all about the interest of those who colonised you and their puppets in gov. whether igbo, hausa, yoruba, ijaw, you are all gullible to money and power tactics, as a result no integrity or trust. divide and rule/conquer- this old strategy always work esp among those who are selfish and never learn. learn from history. |

tbaba83:. At least you know where you stand with the issue, anyways their are others who think other wise. you are in a foreign land because its more comfortable, but imagine the feeling of such comfort in your own country. question: is it possible or not ? I think it is, because I know some countries who have come from shit holes to play well in the world stage with less resources compared to nigeria. It took a lot of effort but it can be done. your ? above suggest a law enforcer slapping a female, even if he was provoked that is not right and unlawful, i'll deliver the same blow with better measure or not, but I will deliver jungle justice to him, my way. |
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Such Big Cowards? by louchi: 9:55pm On Jan 12, 2010 |
you are right in so many ways, for you to even think like this shows you have the interest. I know their are nigerians of different ethnic groups who dont conform to tribalism, but seek that which benefits all. an open mind is a start if this generation is to achieve anything I hope nairaland is not full of jokers. which is worse a coward, who decides not to go to the battle field,(at least u know he is not present) or a joker who goes to the battle field and shows his incompetence. we need for once to start thinking on our toes, or stand aside and groan about how MTN or Sony insulted us. |
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Such Big Cowards? by louchi: 9:21pm On Jan 12, 2010 |
first, is there any forum with the title" Nigeria, the way forward", if not we need one. i'm sure of the 458000 members of nairaland at least a 100,000 can effectively be objective in this issue if it is "really" important to you that naija as a nation can flourish after being trampled upon. |
Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians Such Big Cowards? by louchi: 9:09pm On Jan 12, 2010 |
Nigerians are not cowards, they are waiting for a messiah. I have a strategy but I wont nairalanders home and abroad to be serious about this issue, we are talking about the future of our homeland. If the leaders are not willing then we will make a way. are u all with me. this revolution can start on nairaland. |
Business / Re: Insult: MTN Locates West African Headquarters In Ghana by louchi: 8:52pm On Jan 12, 2010 |
Unless 10 farouks visit Aso rock, the calibre of leaders we have will continue milking . MTN made a very good business move and people are bashing them. Nigeria has to earn its respect, and for now no one cares what the country thinks. Let us admit the truth that Nigeria is a pathetic state and can't be any better if it continues to recycle the same brand of leadership . Most of these leaders have their kids abroad so how will they care if your kids eat, school or work. Look at the little that Fashola did, and everyone is praising him, is that not enough to show how disconnected this so called democracy is . I will reiterate, until leadership changes for good , Naija will remain stagnant. for the sake of future generations let us all critically think about naija, which way forward. I implore sane young minds in this vast nairaland network to discuss positively and not dwell on petty issues. Naija no be mouth na will power and effort. |

Politics / Re: Yar’adua Leaves For G8 Summit On Wednesday by louchi: 1:49am On Jul 10, 2009 |
hey people, seriously speaking is yarafake really worthy to be in that meeting, I don't think so. Is there really anything he has done for Nigerians that will make him worthy to represent them. Nigeria is not even worthy to be invited to the G 50, a simple reason is that being a major oil producing nation, we cant boast of stable power supply or stable fuel supply, how pathetic is that. how does an economy grow when basic things like power, and security of life and property is not guaranteed. The G 8 countries are not immune to corruption, but they do satisfy their people before themselves thats why their well off and everyone want to associate with them. If Nigeria wants respect it should make great efforts to fix its problems which I KNOW it has the ability to fix. we better wake up, the world is moving faster than we think, China is investing everywhere, soon india, indonesia, singapore etc, all developing will become developed, and we will remain in the gallows fighting one another over oil quota. |

The best forum I have gone through so far. I was thinking of studying nuclear medicine but I was told MLS sets one up better for grad school. Anyways kudos to Benard and co. for this wonderful forum. I really want to do great things with MLS. One quick ?, are the diagnostic techniques in Nigeria up to par with those abroad? |
Politics / Re: Uk To Build N300m Prison In Nigeria ! by louchi: 7:33pm On Jul 09, 2009 |
The Nigerian crime mentality is it fact or fiction? It is sad that a Nigerian will go to a foreign country only to engage in crime. Its a shame that this stigma is so bad that even in some shows abroad any foreign African criminal is portrayed as a Nigerian. Well meaning Nigerians ddon'twish to identify with the country because of issues like this. I still have hope for Nigeria so I remain one home or abroad. Lets see if Obama can talk some sense into our so called leaders. |

Computers / Re: Best Home Internet Service In Nigeria? by louchi: 7:28pm On Jul 08, 2009 |
naija should fix the power supply first, then other things will follow. If nigerians only knew how backwards this energy issue is taking them. In the U.S its wi fi, you dont have to pay for average delivery which is still way faster than what nigerians are paying for. |
