Family / Re: Can U Do This? With Pix by Naijaklef: 6:56pm On Jun 29, 2012
chaircover: I am a woman and something makes me feel uncomfortable with that picture. . . ., maybe its a deep seated cultural thing about babies on womens backs.

By all means a man should help his wife with the house chores and looking after the children but a man putting a baby on his back with a wrapper is lipsrsealed. Women want strong men that they can respect & look up to and the same man that you push out of bed to investigate when you hear noises in the night is the same man that you give your ankara to in the afternoon to back the baby. No wonder so many men are confused. I once saw a woman molue driver once and that too made me feel lipsrsealed

If that were to be my husband and I was tired/indisposed/not around/busy/sick wharrever or just wants to help, he will bounce the baby up and down on his lap until baby falls asleep and baby can be laid down in his cot . . . I wont even lend him my ankara. My husband is one of the best dads around but he never backed a baby with cloth and even if he offered I will never allow it . . . .anything else maybe, but not baby on back.

I am probably not explaining this right (its friday naw) maybe another woman reading this can put this in better words grin

Thank u Jare, ChairCover!

How many of these "NA KAM AKPAKO" ladies supporting dis stuff wld be happy to see their own younger brother doing dis in his marital home

How many of you ladies will be happy to see your ELDER BROTHER or YOUNGER BROTHER washing clothes and trying to bathe d baby in his marital home

Now that i'm more settled to read this question of yours, i've another in answer to it. Since life (that has been before us) is a game, who makes the rules? And how d'you know who wins and who loses in the end?

A choice isn't what it is just for the name of it, you know. It is mostly the liberty to select whatever you want from a variety, and be remarkably satisfied with it.
Nobody exactly misses having what they never had.

@Rockstation,
Surprised dat u r asking who made d rules.... GOD of course!
Marriage was instituted by GOD!

As per as who wins or Loses?

Well how else would you explain a man that's intimidated by a woman's success and/or flintiness? Or does intimidation and overall self worth not come in thesame breath?

@rockstation,

Let just agree wit u dat men are intimidated by woman success. We men agree! howeva , u nid to know dat  every1  has got choices...including dis overgrown ladies.

If a guy's priority is to marry a GOOD WOMAN ...and not a successful career woman with plenty of money then dat his choice!

If dis overgrown ladies' choice is to make plenty of money then let them make plenty of it. Dats her choice! Wen dey r done, they can marry d  money and success and remain in their fathers house.

Whenever, dey feel d urge to have sex, they can contact those young guys
Who r willing to service dem for money.

Dis money will b used at end of d day to marry a GOOD WOMAN dat his

D question is ....WHO LOST OUT IN DIS LIFE'S GAME? grin grin grin

D problem can b likened to COMMONWEALTH countries. They all have common problem.... CORRUPTION.
For the unmarried ladies they have common problems too.... They all have BIG EYES.

How do I mean? Here is it.....

They all want to be a CAREER WOMAN and at the same time, b a caring responsible MARRIED WOMAN.
They want to eat their cake and have it. Don't get it wrong....I'm not against women working. However,
How many MEN would be comfortable with d fact dat your wife is not always around due to pressure from d career she chose

How many

They need to adjust... All these unmarried ladies need to prioritize all that is important to dem.
Is it career first or marriage? Can I sacrifice my career for marriage? OR can I sacrifice my marriage for career?
They nid to b sincere with themselves.

There are lot of guys out there, dat r willing to marry but d question is .... to who
....a woman dat is so attached to her career?

It won't happen! grin

Lexo22: Pls my friend Ngozi from Ngodo Isochi, Abia State needs your advice on this matter.. I am a girl of 28 years old and my people are demanding a lot from my fiancé for our traditional marriage. I have tried talking to them but they won’t succumb. The list is endless although it’s ourtradition. Now my fiancé whom we are supposed to be getting married by August is shifting it till next year as he does not have the money to buy those things and I don’t have either to support him as I just finished my NYSC and still looking for a job. My fear is that if he doesn’t have the money by next year and I don’t get a job, the marriage will still be shifted. I need your advice on this please on what to do. Thank u in anticipation for ur cadid advice!

@poster,
Dis is part of d problems parents create for their daughters!
I'm sorry to say dat ur parents are already creating an impression dat they are POOR and HUNGRY!!!  Remember, first impression last longer!

When it comes to marriage, all parties involved have their personal interests...
Wat matters most  is ur husband to be and u!

Try talking to some reasonable people in ur family dat can help u to talk to
Ur parents. If that fails then I will advise u get pregnant for him....
They will b left wit no other choice than to start  chasing the guy to come and marry u.....

GOODLUCK.

Family / Re: Cultural Differences Matters A Lot In Marriage? by Naijaklef: 11:22am On Jun 26, 2012
Guy! Marrying from another tribe is not a BIG DEAL.
Howeva, u must look closely into d family u want to marry from.

Wat really matters is the family background of d lady. Don't be fooled.
Here are some things u nid to watch out for.
(1) who is in control of d home?
Is it d father or mother of ur wife to be? if it's mother then be
Prepare for d war of "WHO CONTROLS UR HOME" becos ur wife to be, will neva see anything wrong in controlling u.

(2) wat is d relationship between dis family and their neighbours?
Is it a "NO MIND DEM BAD BELLE PEOPLE" relationship or  a "GOD HAS BLESSED ME WIT PEOPLE AROUND ME" relationship?
If u go into family dat believes everybody is their enemy, then u will b seen as
Another enemy sooner or later.....

(3) wat is financial status of dat family?
Is it average or below average or above average? D reason for dis is dat
If they happen to b below average then they will always see u as a sacrificial lamb. U will have to take up most bills in d name of marriage.

Above all, watch out for d family's relationship with other people in d
Community.how dey relate wit people around dem will ultimately determines
How dey relate wit u later.

GOOD LUCK

@dasparrow,
If a man with a loving wife decide to cheat on her, are u saying d best thing
To do is fight d husband or disgrace d husband or move out or divorce?
I agree d man is wrong by cheating but can two wrong make a right?
Can a man harrassed by his wife love her more?

In my opinion, d media has played more damaging role than good.
Media created a whole of false impression about marriage. It created
A marriage without stress or pain. It created d impression dat divorce is no
Big deal!  E.g d kardashains story.
A lot of couples go into marriage with d blissful intention and Wen issues start coming up...they crumble and fall becos d marriage was built false ideas
Created by media.

We all, have abandon our cultural values and decided to follow WHITE MAN
Ideas of marriage becos we want to b civilized.
Dat fine! Civilization and liberation come with a price.... D price most couple pay for liberation is divorce!!!

Let think of it... We assume dat oyibo man knows better ...hence we emulate everything dey offer. D question is ....wats r d divorce rates in US and UK These people have lost all d family values.
Divorce rate in Nigeria will continue to go up if we don't change our mentality
About copying western culture dat has failed.

we all talk about divorce and marriage. However, nobody talks about how we have influenced marriages negatively by our advices and comments....

TALK IS CHEAP..... LET US ALL INFLUENCE ONE MARRIAGE
POSITIVELY BY OUR ATITUDE, COMMENTS!

Their father is late and i ve tried to convince her elder brothers but discovered that the woman have poisoned their mind.
We are deeply in love and cant do without each other but the problem now is her family. My own family accepted and love her so much. Family / Re: How Do One Get The Husband To Pay For His Children's Welfare After Seperation. by Naijaklef: 7:00am On Mar 16, 2012
Marriage don't just crash! Ur husband wld nt just wake up one morning to beat u.

Ask urself this question,
Wat changed in my marriage?
Why do u think he behaves to u d way he does now.

D issue of cheating has a root cause. Find it.
Human being tend to seek for happiness in things we do. As long as u dont give him dat happiness, he turns to cheating which he believes
Would make him happy. These things are done unconsciously!

So make good use of the break to ponder over the good tymes and bad times. Wat actually made the bad times BAD and wat made the good times GOOD.
Build on the thing dat made it good.

My advice,
Please go back to ur husband. Try to not to do things dat wld make u get beaten.
U can have a heart to heart talk but do not challenge him, nag e.t.c.
Do things dat wld make him happy. Forget about the cheating for now. A man wld stop cheating, only wen he decides. U can't forcefully stop him!

Men tend to do more for their wives wen they are happy!

And don't forget to pray!

Good luck!

@Luvbird,
Firstly,I want to thank you for you advice. It's appreciated.
However,Do u know that "FOOLS JUST TALK BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING"?
Cant you see that you not saying anything other than blabing? Your excuses are not just adding up!
Cant you see that, it's obvious in your posts that you are clearly a HOMEBREAKER looking for a home to destroy because you don't have one?
anyway,i'm not surprised u can''t have one with this kind of BEHAVIOUR.

Ask yourself this sincere question,   how come this guy know so much about what happenned at the hospital
if he truly, he abandoned his wife and child at the hospital?

"AM NOT EVEN RELATED"
Yes,i'm not suprised that you are denying your family!  NOBODY WANTS TO ASSOCIATE WITH A BAD FAMILY!

Oga CJN Luvbird let me EDUCATE u on this subject matter.

Do you remember that the HEAD of MY FAMILY & some elders came to your house to RESOLVE this issue a DAY before she(my wife) was discharged
and they were harassed by your mother(MIL)? She(MIL) insisted that her decision to take her daugther is FINAL!
This is just a RETALIATION for not accepting her INSTRUCTIONS!!!

HE DID NOT PAY FOR THE BLOOD?
Did they explain to you that the money was paid in my absense because i had to go to WORK
to seek for PERMISSION to extend my LEAVE so that i can TAKE PROPER CARE OF MY WIFE AND MY CHILD?
The money in question about 20k was immediately refunded with APPRECIATION to her FATHER(FIL) when i got back to the hospital.
However,he didn''t collect the money for reason best known to him.

Did she tell you that even at work i constantly called her and the Hospital Lab Officer that was testing the blood samples?
I gave the lab officer some extra cash to make sure that all blood samples were properly tested.

Do you remember that the mother(MIL) was complaining that i gave her(my wife) INSTRUCTIONS to see and check the test result before taking blood?
As if the instruction was for my safety.

Did they tell you that i paid for the test that was conducted in hospital. Did she tell you that I paid for the first blood tranfusion that was later
rejected by her?

WE WILL KNOW IF YOU LOVE UR WIFE AND TRULY WANT HER
Is it obvious? Listen to urself. grin
I have to CONVINCE you & others, that i love my wife that i married and lived peacefully with?

We have to LEAVE our LIVES as Husband and Wife by your OWN RULES?
We have to COMPLY to your standards?
U have been misleading my WIFE with kinds of trash!

so,if you discover that i dont LUV her now. wld u now give her out to SOMEBODY THAT WLD BOW TO YOUR OWN RULES abi? grin

Oga CJN LUVBIRD,
I dont mean to insult u.APOLOGIES. But U need to get Married first then we will start discussing on the same level.
However, the TRUTH must be TOLD so that you dont mislead evryone here!

MESSAGE TO DARLING MY WIFE
Even though you decided to abandon the LUV that we shared and decided to go with your PARENTS.
I still LUV U and i still her LOVE more even more with MY CHILD.
Please be steadfast in your PRAYERS! This is a battle we need to overcome to enjoy our Marriage Jere!  Iyawo Mi Atata!

@Luvbird,
Lol! I DEY LAUGH OOOOO,  now that you have decided to bring it on. Let me give everyone the details.

BACKGROUND ISSUE
You seem to know more. Please kindly tell us about  all the strange rituals your mother(MIL) want me to participate in.
Rituals like female circumstition, strange mortal & pistol carrying to my house.provide a goat that would b reared in your house,  e.t.c
even though they claim to be christians?
, remember that all traditional marrigae request and ceremony were duly observed and done.

Furthermore, do you know that she(my wife) was the one that i actually rejected this female circumsision, mortal carrying e.t.c
As a husband, i only stood by her to the last. Now, I''m being critized for saying No.

Did she(my wife) explained to you that i have always pointed out to her, all the insults that her mother
lashes out on me on regular basis when i visited them? , remember, i have never raise my head to talk back until now!

There is this complaint from her(MIL) about getting closer to the her family members. Tell me since you know more,
how do you get close some1 that complains and judge you on virtually everything you do?
Popular complaints lyk
"u sell computer".
"u no dey eat when u come around"
"u no dey give my plenty money"
"u no dey send me credit"
"ur mother(my parent) no chop the chicken that was offered to her"
"we dont need your money we are not hungry"
"common 100 naira credit he neva give"
"my daughter no longer listen to me, she listen to her husband"

ABANDONED AT THE HOSPITAL?
Did she tell you that she locked the door to hospital ward, she refused to allow me carry my baby, she stopped picking my calls?
Im wondering how some1 that they claim to be critically ill could be doing this.
This was just part of the plan to take my child away.

Did she tell you that i suggested to her that we should go back home when discharged
and i promised to get her a private nurse or midwife that would take care of her? I also suggested to her that
i would tell my parents not to come to my house and she too should do same, so that we can have peace?

Do you also know that we never had any problem before leaving our home. Problem only started when
she (MIL) showed up in the hospital. Isn't obvious? , YOU LAME BEING!

IGWU AND YOGORT?
Yes, she(my wife) bled during delivery and eventually stopped afterwards, but
Did she(my wife) tell you that the first blood transfusion immediately after delivery was cancelled because she refused blood transfusion at first?
Did she tell you that it was because she refused the first transfusion that other suggestions like IGWU and YOGURT was suggested by another patient
in the hospital as a temporary measure.

did she(my wife) tell you that after her refusal, the doctor immediately prescribed another special blood tonic which was immediately paid for and given
to her to start taking right there in the hospital?

did she tell you that she lacked anything medical while she as at the hospital?
Did she tell you that i didnt take proper care of her at hospital?

Also,do you think the hospital would have discharged her if the bleeding had persisted?
even if yes, do u think the best decision was to take her to your house without my consent?
So your house is now the BEST HOSPITAL?

NAMING CEREMONY?
Did she tell you that she started preparing for the naming ceremony right there at the hospital?
she was not in any critical situation.it was all in your plans to forcefully take her to your house.
I have proof to this effect.

LUVBIRD please keep your mouth shut because you are in bondage!
You cant run my home for me with your AFRICAN MAGIC and NOVEL experience.

Even, with all your experience why is it that noone else is married in your house including you?
The only one that got married, you vampiers want to bring her down with unnecessary complaint and jealosy.Do you think at all?

More Info on this:

At the hospital, I spoke to her when this problem started that we should go back home,
, that i will get her a private midwife or a nurse that would be take good care of her,in addition to a standard maternity hospital that she has access to.
i also assured her, that i will tell my family members to stay away, likewise, she should tell all her family members to stay away, but she refused.

Right now, the church has intervened but they still not cooperating, with the church!
The Question is, Is there anything that I could have done to her and family that wld warrant taking my wife and my child away?
, Is there anything that i could have done that wld warrant not cooperating with the church, elders and people?

I have kept my cool because i respected the elders and the church,

Give me your wife's phone number lets talk with her.
If you have offended her, we will plead on your behalf and you have to REPENT.
If you did not commit any offence, we will let her know that her PLACE is with you, not in her mother's house.

A wise family friend once said to us, some years back that " when you (to the single man) are looking for a wife, first find out who/what her mum is"
Some MIL are something else.

@virtuous woman,
Thanks. I doubt if she wld cooperate with you.

Question- who paid the hospital bill?
I guess the MIL. How else could she have walked out with her daughter and the baby.
I guess you must be guilty of neglect and abuse.
Elders would not normally be abused and sent away unless something serious went wrong.

It is inhuman to think of separating such a young child from the mother

I paid the bills. We had two hospitals for her use.
I'M NOT GUILTY OF ANYTHING. I'm just surprise that my wife behaved that way, my wife was fully aware of her mother's intrusion.

Honestly, the second day she showed up at hospital, she started poisoning my wife's mind against me no reason giving her reasons why she must go with her
to tthe parent's house.

OP,you are very funny!
Your MIL just came out of the blues, took your wife and child away from the hospital for NO rhyme or reason

You are either joking, drunk, lying or all.

U nid to understand that when MIL are frustrated becos u don't take instructions from her on how to run your family then
They go extra mile to retaliate. Her reason was dat neighter me nor my family could take care of my wife after delivery.

I have lived peacfully with my wife. I took her to the hospital for delivery. I had sleepless night in the hospital. She showed up and problem started.

@outstrip, My wife mother did not stay with me. I meant my wife has lived with me for about two years
@ronkebp, there was NO issue before we left for the hospital.
