I knew someone with a mindset like this would mention.

Well, for starters I cannot see anywhere in my write up where the guy's or any other group's intelligence was called into question.

My only concern is, English being our language of instruction and official language, it is only proper and normal that someone with at least a secondary education should be able to express his or herself without having to sound like a dunce.

Until our national budget is passed in Hausa, your car manual in Yoruba or your next reply comes in Efik, we must all learn to speak English properly and communicate seamlessly with it.

Like I submitted earlier, the worst English speakers in Nigeria are the Notherners and to some extent, Yorubas. Mostly Kwarans.
Are you aware that the children of lots of wealthy northerners never schooled In Nigeria? The guy I mentioned did all his schooling in Egypt, only came back home during the holidays. We got to meet during his undergrad and like most I thought he was uneducated until I got to know him better.
I worked at a private school dominated by Muslims from Northern and western extraction. I'm talking about 99.9%. These kids couldn't string a correct sentence to save their lives. But most of them could read and write Arabic. One of the boys even taught me a little back then. Most of those kids spoke languages and I'd tell you it takes some level of intelligence and dedication to learn a new language. One thing I'll never do is judge a person's intelligence or level of education by his ability to speak English.

Hmmm

What kind of education are the northerners getting by the way

A whole "son of a governor" cannot string a complete sentence

You definitely did not kill anyone at a night club but you have killed me with your distasteful English!!!

Chai!!!
How does proficiency in the English language correlate with intelligence abeg? Cos if it does then everyone in the UK is intelligent. I know a guy from a Kano royal family who finds it hard to string an English sentence. Yet with all my English I can't compete with this guy at all. He speaks Hausa which is his native tongue, Arabic, Russian and English. He's most fluent in Arabic. Has an Msc from the University of Cairo. So abeg tell me how English take be measure of one's intelligence

I don't support violence on civilians in any way but to be honest soldiers also face situations with civilians that if not acted upon promptly might lead to the end of their life. During endsars a soldiers I know got killed by civilians because he tried to be civil with them. They snatched his gun and shot him dead. Another soldier had to act promptly during a mild crisis in a community in imo state. Boys were all charged up and the soldiers came to settle them down. In the process one of the boys who thought he was immortal started walking towards one of the soldiers menacingly. Baba offed him right there. He faced disciplinary actions sha but at the end of the day he did what was necessary to preserve his life.

The matters sha dey complicated. May God help us

Islam forbids begging as the main source of income!

So i may give them food but will never encourage them in begging!

Begging is permitted only when someone is stricken by poverty or calamity or where one is indebted when trying to reconcile two people!

I once saw beggars sorting/counting their beggings after they finished praying in the mosque!
Even you wey dey work fit no make such cash per hour!

In all, don't abuse them! If you have something to spare give!
If you don't have just mind your business!

And if you detect fraud report them!
You said Islam doesn't support begging but why do Islamic leaders turn a blind eye to this act? Infact some perpetuate this act of begging. There's a mosque I usually pass by in bauchi. In the morning these boys gathers there with their plates ànd all, all geared up for the day. An elderly man addresses them before they set out. I just shake my head. Would it be difficult for a Muslim, who's ready to give a Christian man the whole world just so he can convert to his religion, to take these kids off these streets? Enroll them in a trade school, have them use their God given talents for something. It's really pathetic to be honest. At a traffic stop I once saw a boy begging. Next to him was another with a bunch of facemasks in his hands selling. Just pathetic to be honest

You're very right
I visited the bread bakery close to my house and discovered that they make use of cassava flour and wheat flour in a specific ratio.
I can't really remember the ratio.

The man in charge of the Bakery said, Cassava flour is costly as well as wheat flour.
I was shocked, I could relate
We are the owners of cassava but don't know that we can process our cassava to flour, it's only Garri and fufu that my village people know.
Cross River Government don't know how to establish cassava flour processing industries that will be of benefit to Cross Riverians.

Youŕe right. Even though cassava is produced in the south south and south east more than any other region, its range of functionality over there is very limited.
I lived in the East for some years and I remember the strange look on market women's faces each time I tell them I'm looking for cassava flour. The few who know will ask what I want to do with it. Telling them I want to make swallow with it will only draw looks of surprise. Very few people know about it. However in the north and Middle belt it is a very popular meal. Northerners use cassava flour or Alibo as its popularly known a lot for pastries and other things. They even use cassava to make Akara popularly known as 'kosain rogo'. The meal is popular amongst market women and children.

Why is Ugochukwu recruited in 1994 still a sergeant with Bala recruited in 2003? 9 years gap same rank! Many cases are there in both the commissioned and non commissioned officers
Growing up where I did there were more low ranking 'senior' soldiers from the northern extraction than any other region. This has nothing to do with tribe or religion. My Pop's coursemate, a fulani man, was still a corporal when my father became a Master Warrant Officer. There are many factors here. Soldiers can be demoted as a disciplinary measure, some may not be able to scale the minimum course requirements for promotion, some may have personal beef with their commanding officer, some may belong to corps that hardly see the light of promotion in due time( same in the US military where the marines are always lagging behind In terms of promotion), e.t.c. like I said I has nothing to do with tribe. That's just how the military is.

i am from south south, edo state precisely.
I can tell you for free that even if south east leaves there will never be any form of agitation from us.
That south south feeds the nation is another thing for another day, Nigeria is a nation, wherever natural resources is is for everybody, no particular region owns any natural resources, before oil was discovered the north never agitated for breakaway because the chunk of our revenue was coming from them.

In all the mess we are in south south i blame the people representing us, the people closer to us in govt, i mean the govs, senators etc.

We should start channeling our grievances to the right places, despite 13 percent derivation fund, ministry of Niger delta affairs, NDDC and other numerous outfits we have never seen any benefit from them, what are our governors doing?

If south east leaves eventually which is not possible in the first place, we will tell them bye bye.

All those people in the south south blaming the government for every little thing don't know that their leaders are directly responsible for the condition of that region today. They do not represent the interest of the people at all. Funny thing is all these bodies and agencies created for the sake of the region actually obtain remuneration from the government and other private organisations but only a fraction of a trickle reaches the people.
The governors, senators and etc are just there to serve self-interest.

You enforce sit at home to punish who? The government? The north? Who exactly if not the people you're forcing to stay at home and not go out there to earn a living-your people.

Nobody in the north is feeling the effect of sit at home. If it affected the government they would have been up and doing trying to profer a solution. But no! Only the poor masses of the land are suffering it. Now my problem sef is those secondary school students that will continue to miss their waec exams every Monday cos of this nonsense.

And pls don't say yesterday's was different because it was may 30th. The SE have been commemorating the loss of their loved ones every 30th of May in absolute peace and harmony for decades. Ever since Simon Ekpa started this nonsense it has been chaos upon chaos. Haba naw

Stop talking rubbish.

The Nigerian military is even MORE powerful today, with better training, and more and better weapons.

They can never be as effective fighting an internal terrorist group in Nigeria for the simple reason that their ‘success’ in that depends on the amount of damage they can cause within the country, making it a terrible dilemma, which prevents them from exercising their full strength and armoury on the terrorists/bandits etc.

Send them out to fight a foreign war where there are no such restraints, and you will see they’re a fearsome fighting force.

Sir, I'll tell you with full chest that the Nigerian army of today is no match for those of yester-years. I lived my whole life in the barracks and witnessed the transition in the quality of training, armament and psychological disposition of the soldiers. Those men were fierce, bold and principleď to a certain degree. I witnessed it. How they addressed issues in the barracks, civilian relations, conflict resolution to name a few. There were always bad eggs of course but most of those men were in the job because they wanted to serve.
The first set of 'problem' came in the early 2010s but those that came in 2014 redefined what it meant to be a soldier. The government was desperate to meet the quota so as to keep the north east in check. They started recruiting in thousands. Our unit alone had 200 new recruits. Something that never happened before. In a few months everyone became tired of the 70th intake. They were a menace amongst civilian population and even in the barracks. I thought it was only our unit but Report came from other units as well. That was the beginning. In my father's time they were only 900. Some sets were even less. Today they recruit upto 4000 at a time. Just like having 4000 students in a lecture hall and expecting every person to learn what they lecturer is teaching.

Forget politician constraints and whatnot. The new generation soldiers are no match at all. And talking about weapons? Most of the gunships, armoured tanks and artillery used in the 90s and early 2000s are no longer functional. Most of them are for show in military gun parks today.

Why be with someone for such a long time. I'll rather do just friendship for a long time till you can no longer pretend about anything to me, we go don see ourselves finish before going into a relationship. I'll rather study the flaws of someone than the good side
I can deduce two things from here
1. You are very young.
2. You haven't had any real relationship experience before.

It seems you think people don't seem to get this relationship thing right because either of the spouses/partners probably live a life of pretense.
Now let me tell you something. When you love someone your brain tends to validate most of their actions/ habits that you seem to dislike. Your man tells you he hates water touching his skin. You laugh it off, even tease him about it cos you're in love. He dresses fine, smells good and all and it's all beautiful, right? But six months into, your man, no longer having the need to woo you, stops taking his bath and looking nice. Now You dare not come at him and say he was pretending all along. He did tell he he disliked water, didn't he? But of course you're in fresh baked hot love so hey, it never mattered. Now it does. And you call him pretentious? It was only a matter of time!
When I was with my ex their were things she did that I brushed off because of love. Habits is what I'm talking about here. I didn't quite like them but of course I was in love and she was perfect the way she was. But deep down inside I knew that we were gonna have problems over those issues over time. And if I ever make a big deal out of it she was gonna say I PRETENDED to be a decent person meanwhile I was a control freak. I also would probably say she pretended to be THIS meanwhile she was THAT
Look bottom line is, relationships are just as complicated as driving a stick for a lady who never drove one before. You just get confused and never know the way to go. Experience teaches you a lot but it never saves you from being human.

I used to belong to a school that preached real love, soul mates and all the yen yen yen about love. Not anymore. I'm not saying these things don't exist anymore. Personal experience and lessons learnt shut me up. You can be with a person for 10 years and still not know who they really are. I had a girlfriend. Loved her like mad. I knew she was the one. I knew I was gonna spend the rest of my life with her. She also felt tbesame way, well, atleast to the best of my knowledge. The night before our breakup we were being all lovey dovey on the phone, planning on businesses
to run together and all. What came after that call, no one saw coming. In less than 8 hours the wheel of fortune changed. Wasn't easy for both of us but I guess it's what it is. Life goes on. So yeah , I don't need to know how old you are but I think you have a lot to learn in this life

After reading your reply I suddenly remembered the tears of a woman whose child was killed by Ekpa's boys in Owerri. That's a single case amongst several hundreds of others. The fear he incited in igbo land, the hardship people were forced to endure. He deviated from the original pathway towed by Nnamdi Kanu and brought division amongst Igbo people. Im not Igbo but I've held the conviction for years now that the Igbos have been dealt the hand of injustice for too long. I always thought it was their right to leave if they wanted. I never liked Nnamdi Kanu from the beginning but along the line I began to admire the man for many reasons. But he's there facing trial for his people yet someone is out there destroying what he started
Because of Simon Ekpa lots of people gave up and saw the struggle as a menace. All because of Simon Ekpa. He never stepped foot in the country to support his people all this while. Not even once. Now let me reply you properly. May the fate of those who fell victim to the antics of Simon Ekpa befall you and your family. May you drink from the same calabash as they did and may that fate continue to prevail for generations to come. If Simon Ekpa did good as I believe you think, then you have nothing to worry about.
