I am sorry to say, but @Doctorazz, you are a very foolish woman. I have just read your thread from last year, and this man clearly had no iota of respect for you but you still went ahead to marry him. Your punishment has only just begun. |

Thanks everyone for responding. Young adults visit all the time, I didn't want to have to speak to friends but I guess I will have to now. I will keep you all posted if we end up putting in a successful application, so it helps other genuine applicants in the future. 2 Likes |

Na wa o! So there's no hope at all? He's not absconding, I just want some family at Christmas..... |

justwise: Thank you for responding. He was a student at the time and under 18, so he was a dependent on my mum. He graduated last year and is now 21. |

Hello all, I want to sponsor my brother so he can come visit me. I live and work in the UK, and will be acting as the full sponsor. My concern is he's just about to finish nysc and so can't get an employment letter etc. How do we demonstrate strong ties to Nigeria? He was previously issued a visa to attend my graduation but the passport came out late and he never used the visa. I want to be as meticulous as possible and don't want him to be refused. I'd like him to spend Christmas with me. I maintain an account in Nigeria with a substantial amount of money in it and I have a somewhat healthy balance in my uk account too. I am just concerned about our ability to demonstrate strong ties to Nigeria. All suggestions welcome :-) |

Why do you guys think somalis or ethiopans are mixed? They are east africans and look different from west, north or south africans. I mean some 9jas can tell a hausa from yoruba or ibo just by looking at them. Why do people keep saying east africans look like arabs? They look nothing like the arabs/middle easterners i know. They look unique, you know that look that automatically says ethio, somali, eritrea, kenya etc. I do not think they are mixed at all do not forget Africa is a continent and we all can't look the same |

I understand where pafun (sp?) is coming from but his approach was wrong. I also live in the UK atm and graduated a year ago. I have been applying for lots of grad schemes where i sometimes get to AC stage but no luck even when they send you feedback, you can tell there is no reason per se and you realise you were just invited for statistical purposes. It is not easy to get a job as a foreigner in the UK right now and i honestly believe i am better off back home. I have since started applying to nigerian companies and been getting some responses. What i have observed from some nigerians who live here is they want to go home and be treated like royalty u know 500k/month, company car etc. I hear people say why should i accept 100k/month after schooling abroad? meanwhile the said individual graduated from london met. What we forget is that they are millions of well educated nigerians with excellent qualifiactions from top unis all over the world competing for these jobs as well and the onus is on you to make yourself stand out. If we are all afraid to go back because of the nigerian system, who is going to force the change our country urgently needs? @ those saying thousands of nigerians are doing well, you know they only represent a tiny fraction of nigerians here. Most nigerians here are doing odd jobs that they will never accept back home. |

yes i deferred it till Sept 2008. Call them to find out if ur dept allows u to resume in January Rare: |
![]() |
@ Rare i was also University of sheffield bound and was refused a visa. I asked for a letter of extension and wasn't given but then again departments differ. I hear some departments allow January entry so i suggest u call the admissions office and speak to them about your situation. |

Ummm i hope ur school is not resuming before the 11th of October? If it is, hope u gave a logical reason as to why you are submitting your application this late or atleast a letter of extension from your school? otherwise the Eco will just assume u are unserious. cos he wont understand why u are submitting your application a couple of days before u resume. Goodluck though. |

Vicjustice:about what? |

Yeah i think that's what i'm going to do. I wonder what the ECO means by "outgoing or financial commitments" i would have thought that was tax clearance or properties. na wa 4 this people o! anyway kelly4life i'll advise you to re-apply if you think you can counter all d reasons given by the ECO. |

okay. I'm just wondering, don't u think; 1. The BHC will frown at a relative paying a larger amount of the expenses? 2. That i'll look suspicious adding a new sponsor after a refusal? And will shares be enough to convince them i can pay for my upkeep without a recourse to public funds or working? |

Thanks for your responses. @ VOR so are u saying everything is hopeless? or because my dad prefers to invest his money in stocks rather than leave it in a bank, then i can't study abroad? very few people leave money in the bank these days. @ Mr Pataki, yes i can get a photocopy of his data page that's not a problem at all. I want to include my dad's stock and property documents, do u think that will also strengthen my application? |
