Don Cipher:

Just thot to ask was the info on number of V'0s just stated or they were introduced & attendees fielded them with questions; if the later, are they locals or foreigners?

Even 2 V'Os are nt enuf for study permit app's alone hw mch more evrythn.

Don Cipher & Oga Siga..........The VOs are Foreigners (two ladies to be precise).Dem be white Canadians not even Black-Canadians (one of dem wan get small chinko abi na aborigine look sef).

And the head VO just introduced herself and also introduced(pointed to)her deputy who was seated on the front row backing us. It was only after the session when I approached her to ask questions on why some older applications were being delayed meanwhile other applications submitted afterwards had been settled and dispatched with, that I noticed her features and that she was aboriginal/chinko looking...lol.

Actually the session went like this....."Good Morning ladies and gentlemen I am bla..bla..bla the head VO at the CDHC lagos and I'm here with my deputy bla..bla..bla. We are the only officers in charge of processing visa requests at the CDHC and we are here to give you a general overview of the requirements to apply for a Canadian TRV and study permit,I am not here to answer 'what-if' scenarios so I will appreciate it if we keep our questions as general as possible and pls reserve your questions till the end of my presentation when we will all be given an opportunity for Q & A.........."

And Yes I almost forgot to tell us that I inquired from the deputy VO and she said they are currently processing all October applications. This was because during the Q & A session, her colleague had told us that they were presently handling October ending applications. So, I approached them to find out why some earlier applications(both in October and previous months)had not been concluded on. She (the deputy VO) gave me the assurance that all applications were being attended to and did not necessarily have to be turned out as they came in because each application was different and unique on its own and so some need more verification of docs than others, hence the cause of the 'seemingly' delay.

Now this one don dey turn epistle o!.....I beg to rest my case at this point.... grin

Hello Joe980...Nothing was said about the 10days processing time.

Siga: ....Did they introduce themselves to una?... I believe the Abuja info session is this week....so, any Abuja pple wey dey here...if una get time....plz attend...

Oga Siga I hail o! Domo Sir!(that one na Benin greeting.....lol). Yes the main facilitator did introduce herself and her colleague and she said she was the head Visa processing officer while the other lady was her deputy. I wish I had jotted down their names and designation....oh well, the faintest pencil is really better than the sharpest brain........

ezme:

Thanks for the info, what did they say on ties to home country. i have noticed most people don't use so much landed properties anymore.

Hi ezme,I really didn't inquire about this neither did any of the other attendees. Our questions were kind of limited cos the facilitator refused to answer "what if" questions and so I guess the enthusiasm to ask specific questions became dampened. I mean she practically just regurgitated the info on their website.

However, It still does not excuse the fact that I plainly forgot to ask an important question as this.

xtus:

thanks for the info......... Although it sucks to hear dat only 2 VISA OFFICER is in charge of processing the entire application but is also a relief to hear d E-application dat is coming so.
God bless u for d info

Yes O my broda, just that from time to time they get external assistance for about 6 weeks or thereabout to clear the heavy backlog that they inevitably had gathered but that is still no consolation at all.

Maybe I should modify my post and include the temporary external assistance for our general info too.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Invincible1: 4:39am On Jan 28, 2013
Hi all, I was at the Lagos leg of the Canada Education fair on Saturday the 26th mainly to attend the visa application seminar. I did not learn anything significantly different from all that's been discussed on this forum.

However, the major info I got which explains the delay in Visa processing times is that there are only two Visa officers processing the Canadian visa applications of the whole Naija applicants ....whether it be student, tourist, Visiting, etc visas. You can imagine our shock. Even though from time to time they get external assistance for about 6 weeks or thereabout to clear the heavy backlog that they inevitably had gathered but that is still no consolation. I mean they really need to increase the number of their Visa processors on a permanent basis not just getting occasional temporary assistance.

Also, CDHC will soon start E-applications -I think this should be in the month of March or May,I can't remember when exactly but before October this year when the Biometrics requirements will also come into effect.

The good news about the E-application is that apart from filling and submitting the application forms,Questionnaire etc online, you will only have to scan and upload all your documents-including the data page of your International passport online. So, no more CDHC holding unto your Int'l passports for ever.

However, if they are not clear about any of your documents they will write you and ask to see the Original copies. Also very importantly, when they are very certain that they want to issue an applicant the TRV, they will request for Him/Her to submit the Original Int'l passport for them to view/sight and at the same time place the TRV in it.

Hope we find these information useful.

My dear, 2.5M no go anywhere ooooo.
Like I said, I've nt confirmed exactly wat they need as proof of funds for 2years course (whether it is as they stated- one year tuition and living expense and source of funds for remaining stay.)

Confirm again, d 16165cad is also high for tuition alone(except for flight school) for a year. Is it tuition and living expense and other fees? I know sum schools pay up to 12kcad but I've nt heard of 16kcad.
@house, plz put mouth for dis one.

Hi everyone, hope u all r doing great! Please i need an urgent advice, i posted this somewhere on nairaland but i guess this is the perfect place to ask the ?s. My family applied for canadian skilled worker PR in 2009.submitted a whole lot of documents and each time i checked the online status it always says IN PROCESS! Well we got tired of waiting and moved to dublin ireland early this year. Just 2days ago,i got a mail from canadian immigration requesting for updates, original certificates marriage, birth and right of permanent residency fee, they are giving us 60 days to comply else they will assume we r no longer intrested. Out of curiosity ,i went to check the online status same day and it says DECISION MADE. Na wao i come tire. What does it mean abeg? Approval abi what? If yes, please advice me.....do u think canada is better than ireland in this present economy?? I mean in every ramification. Do u think i should pursue the canadian Pr or just forget it? Ireland so far is good..compared to where we were.just that the tax system is drving me insane, but between ireland and canada....my pple compare abeg and advice sincerely. Thanks

"Although it is said that a bird at hand is worth 2 in the bush. I still think you may want to give it a second thought. Reason Canada is by far better than Ireland, economically, politically, geographicaly and a great place to give your kids a future and like you said a more friendlier task system. But if by returning to Nigeria to pursue your Canada dream will jeopardise your status in Ireland, I will say stay where you are but you really may have to take the risk. Honestly I will take the risk if I were in your shoes.
And about the question "A decision is made" Yes they are ready to issue the PRV once you provide the additional required docs. Best of luck."....Quoting effizypo

I couldn't have said it any better......I agree totally with effizypo's submissions......Canada is waaaaaay better than Ireland.....It's worth the risk and I stand to be corrected but I think you should explore the option of completing the PRV process/processing from Ireland-I want to believe it's possible.....just make ur inquiries well and fast too 'cos 60 days has started counting since how many days ago?.......And Oga Siga also asked a very valid question.....I guess your answer will help him point you in the right direction.......Congratulations to you and family on your SUCCESSFUL PRV......smiling and dancing with you already smiley cheesy grin wink

TRV_IJN: I paid half of my tuition already (it was required by my school),I personally had all the money I need for the duration of my studies and a little extra above it in my own salary account but my uncle is my sponsor (dad's brother so same surname) his accounts and investments statements were way way more than enuff. I wrote a good(I want to believe very good) study plan and set out my goals.but believe me, I didn't put my trust in the way I packaged my application or because I had other visas on my passport. I prayed to God for favour bros and I tell you that na the Favour na him do am not my balance or uncle's sponsoring.
I am like that blindman that Jesus healed and he said,'...all I know is that I was blind and now I see'. Me '...all I know is that I asked for favour from HIM and I got it...

Congrats TRV_IJN! what school are you going to and what course pls?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Invincible1: 6:46pm On Nov 13, 2012
TRV_IJN: @August Applicants, do not worry yet. This morning I saw a UPS bus driving in and out of CDHC. This was probably before 9am. If you ask me, I believe those were people's updates going to VFS but I don't know how soon they will update the site.
I want to say if not for Favour of God (read my discussion with the VO today in my earlier post) I would have come back empty handed even though the probably would have dispatched my invite to VFS this week. My point is they are treating August so just wait maybe urs just got to CDHC today or will this week. I submitted friday 17th Aug but due to public hols, it got there 22nd August.
Be of courage and PRAY.Kai if someone wud just believe me and pray, there is absolutely nothing impossible with God. Pls Pray even if u think ur application is strong.

Thanks Bro!

U submitted Aug 28th & got ds info on ur 10th week, that shuld mean CDHC is already verifying Sep applicatn's or they are reviewing both Aug & Sep @d same time wrt issues raised abt trv quotas for a given period stated by some veterans here (Maybe the reason no news yet from Aug applicants); else Aug applicants shuld have heard from CDHC (Unless ders a delay in verificatn of docs so CDHC moved on 2d next 1). There maybe no backlogs like last year - dnt forget VAC whc was not in existence ds time last year was established to ease stress & by statement from @illuminati they stopped accepting more winter app sumtym in Sep. Lets see wht ds week wuld bring...Cheers

Hi everyone.......VAC stopped collecting applications for Winter(January)start dates on the 4th of October precisely cause the applications had to get to CDHC the next day 5th of October which was the deadline.

Hello All,
This would be my second post on this forum.Just wanted to share my goodnews.I got my TRV today.I applied for a study permit on May 30th,2012.I was called for medicals August 14th, 2012 with conditions to pay tuition and accommodation and was given 30days.Due to a mix up in the letter they sent to me,which I didn't understand.I asked for clarification and paid partial tuition fee.Submitted on September 19th, 2012 my partial tuition payment telex. Got a call from the embassy on the 20th asking I pay the full tuition and accommodation and was given another 30days and asked to get a new start date since I was to begin my program in September. With regards accommodation I told the embassy staff that called me I wasn't going to pay for accommodation for one year. The story is on my first post.So they asked I present at least a guest agreement.I made the complete tuition payment and then made a hotel reservation, new start date and submitted on the 29th of October,2012.My Visa was approved on the 30th of October, 2012.I Thank God for the long journey. It was worth the wait.

TRV_IJN: i meant apart from Uncle's account (of very sufficient funds and history), if the applicant herself has the funds in her account also- she has the money but her uncle (letter from uncle included) is her sponsor. i am only asking if you think, the person will meet CDHC's "FINANCIAL SUFFICIENCY PARAMETERS"

Hi TRV_IJN what school and course are you going to and for?

adexcube: Pls is a sponsor affidavit necessary or its just an added document to increase your chances of getting a TRV.

I'll describe it as a NECESSARY ADDITIONAL DOCUMENT NEEDED TO BOOST YOUR APPLICATION THAT WILL COST YOU ALMOST NEXT TO NOTHING TO ACQUIRE. It gives CDHC more 'comfort' and assurance that your sponsor[s] are committed to funding your education.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Invincible1: 8:20pm On Oct 24, 2012
Jesus4all: @ALL THIS IS WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN, AND I KNOW THAT IS WRONG BUT I CAN'T HELP THE SITUATION SINCE I DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER PERSON TO SPONSOR ME OR SPONSOR MYSELF, SO I JUST HAVE TO LET IT BE.
WHEN I SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION, I ONLY ADD MY POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE,MY STATEMENT OF ACCT 500K, MY SPONSOR UTILITIES BILL AND A LETTER OF FULL SPONSORSHIP FROM MY SPONSOR. LATER WEN I DISCOVER THIS FORUM I SAW THAT I HAVE JUST SUBMITTED AN EMPTY APPLICATION. BUT TO MY SURPRISE I GOT MEDICAL CALL WITH THOSE CONDITION ADDED
AFTER MEDICAL:
I SUBMITTED EVERY REQUIRED DOCUMENT.

MY TUITION AND OTHER FEES PER YEAR IS 6763CAD DOLLAR. BUT MY SPONSOR DEMANDED THAT I TRANSFER THAT 500K TO HIM,HE ADD TO IT AND WE CALCULATED TUITION FEES ONLY OUT OF 6763K CAD DOLLAR WHICH IS ABOUT 4K PLUS. THEN WE PAY 5K DOLLAR FOR TUITION. THOUGH I WAS NOT HAPPY, DUE TO MY EXPERIENCE OF HOW CDHC TREAT THE APPLICANT HERE IN THIS FORUM BUT I CANNOT DO ANYTHING BUT TO PRAY AND WAIT FOR EMBASSY TO DECIDE.
MY SPONSOR ONLY GAVE ME HIS PAY CHECK TWO OF THEM IN A MONTH. NO STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT FROM HIM

Jesus4all: @all, cdhc refuse me on these ground that i don't have financial resources to pay my tuition and my up keep without working in canada
others: sponsor not credible
the question that i want all niralander to answer in detail for me is:
how can i re-package my application by using my former sponsor?
pls give details of every documents that u think i need to submit. including the money

What school and what course are you going for?

I think you can only use this same sponsor if and only if he's willing to give you full co-operation and all the necessary documents. There are key documents required by the CDHC to prove the relationship btw you and your sponsor and his/her/their financial capability. If you can get a closer relative the better but if you must use this same sponsor, then he has to be willing to release his statement of a/c,pay slips,a sponsor's affidavit and you should be able to prove/show how you are related as a way of confirming his commitment to your education. well this is my humble submission.
