Romance / Re: Unmarried Ladies Out There: Do You Want To Get Married? by isOSavvy(m): 1:43am On Jan 11, 2012
Frankly i think ladies will be better off with a Man by their side on the long run. Someone who can be friend, brother, pillar , and the list goes on. Everyone needs companionship right?

@EpicWin  i dey feel u. I was in similar circumstances not too long ago.

I was working while my application was being processed. During this period i secured admission for  a masters degree in the UK and also got a job that was more closely related to my field of study than the one i was doing at that time. The pay was not so good, but with some experience in that field  my prospects would be super down the road.  When the VISA eventually came out, it was bitter sweet cos, while i desired to study in Canada i already had myself set up in Nigeria.  When i told my new employers, they were quite excited, and said they were expecting me after after my studies(No mind those people o. instead of them to send me for training,  them don see awuf! lol) I used photocopies for all applications. Some were coloured

Also stay around those who will encourage you. some good friends and relatives really gingered me when i was down!

So its now 4-6 months! na wa o. This guys dey do like say here na heaven.  No one deserves to wait that long for student VISA, for what?? Anyways bro, keep the fire burning and keep trying other options. All the best!!

Mennnnn am still seeing some old user names on this forum. CHDC no dey try o.

@chukie O boy wetin dey happen na

@vic4vi speaking of Cold, Alberta(the province i am in) can drop as low as -30degrees and counting. That is on a good winter day o. Up North Alberta goes way beyond that. However there are thermal clothings over here which could cushion the frosting effect 2 a great extent. Indoors there are heaters and all to make one Cosy in such times.

As for the post grad question,  i Can't authoritatively speak on that. Probably someone else in that province will. U could also Google it. But its a good thing your doing your research o. Research very very well. I was in Toronto for 2 days, and i was shocked when i knew the qualifications of some persons doing menial jobs. These guys were speaking sharp, polished English and yet some of them were Restaurant attendants, cleaners e.t.c Some other guys i met were doing really well, making good cash. But one thing is for sure,  there is a lot of hard worked involved and you have to ask the right questions before you step out of Naija, just like your doing now.

@CHDC Abeg na Let my people Go!!!!!

@guddylover
CBSA did not expect you to carry your schl fees for hand.infact for intl student the schl fee,they believe wire transfer will be okay.as for me my schl fee is 17000 dollars and i paid just 1000dollars here.as for accomodation,just tell them u will staying in an hotel pending u will get your accomodation or go to kijiji.ca to check short rentals and there contact.as far as airline is concern,i used an agent who help me secure d ticket.for student it is one way ,in the sense that it is not return ticket.from lagos to italy (ROME) stop over for 3hrs then down to toronto.please dont be scared,u will surely be allowed to enter @ the POE.Trust me

Thanks, most of us will be booking one way tickets

easye2011:

@isO_Savvy: i dey tell u, leg dey pain person. i used KLM from Abuja to Amsterdam and then from Amsterdam to Calgary. the total fare was 380knaira. there was no problem at the POE, they just requested only the letter from naija embassy and then i was issued a study permit

Thanks 4 the info bruv. if there is a touch down at Calgary, better 4 me cos thats my stop(God willing o)

Delta007:

There's no direct flight to Edmonton. You'd either need to connect in Europe and sometimes, may have to connect again in one of the big hubs (Toronto or Calgary).

Chairmo thanks a lot! its funny how Calgary has more flight traffic, even with Edmonton as the capital.

@Cuddlemii: my journey was nice though it was long. Thanks

Pls Which airline did you use and what was their fare?

Did you fly Straight to Edmonton or was there a connecting flight in Canada?

As for accommodation did u book b4 flying?, was it an issue at POE?

@iso savvy
thanks neva thougt i could get a response soon. thanks any way. yes i am self sponsoring with my savings account guess will have to come up with one then. my letter has been sent via snail mail (regular mail) thats whats delaying my submission. thanks for helping out newbies u guys. cheers

Dont mention Dude. cant even start recounting how many times i have been helped in NL, so i think its my duty to give back.

Ehen back to topic. Well,If u r self sponsoring no wahala just make sure your account is loaded- have enough to cover overall cost at school, with some surplus- But you must also prove your source of fund. if for instance you tender your savings account, the embassy will check monthly cash inflow vs your stipulated monthly pay. If there is a large variance between the two they want to know why, and where that money is coming from.

Also the sponsor( being u) should provide

if employed: letter from employer
Job description
Service date
Gross and Net Earnings
One year Bank statement

I am assuming u r a payed employee since u made mention of ur office.

Fixed Deposits and Landed Property would also pass as sources of Fund. In fact evidence of these could convince the VO that you intend to come back to Naija.

Question is can u get these all by urself? if u can, Go ahead.

Else i would advise u Co-Sponsor with a close relative who

has a healthy statement and Landed property.

Cheers

oluweri:

hi i am new on this thread , awaiting acceptance from centennial college for winter 2012. this thread has been more helpful than i thought when i started reading  would adivse any new member to read from page 1. Please can anyone tell  me if it is necessary to include pay slips cos we
dont use it in my office. thanks

I am guessing u wont sponsor urself right? All u got 2 do in that case is get a "letter of confirmation" from your employer with the company letter head, stating your employment date, your monthly pay and your current job role. However if you are sponsoring yourself , fully or in part, then you will have to provide payslips or salary account statements as the case maybe. Winter 2012- and theve not accepted u yet?  Be on them O, let it not drag on for 2 long so it doesn't eat into your VISA processing time. You can see d amount of tension present on this thread, even for those who started relatively early.

Delta007:

Goodluck!

hahahahaha

@slim just drop a mail man! get a new mail if u have 2
Congrats for your VISA !

@ Oldees and Newbies Landed in Canada, any advice as to preparations one should make when coming to Canada? I.E things we should buy in Naija vs  things we would be better off getting in CA

@all making preparations to land Canada soon.  If any of Yall are planning 2 get a nice expensive phone(or any phone 4 that matter) b4 travelling,  Reconsider O. Certain phones/Smartphones may not be compatible with certain networks over there. its best to keep your cash handy for that. Else come December u may turn by force Father Christmas on top IPhone 4

@babiechic Underline this
tolualds:

Yeah you can use her provided ,  you have a document dat proofs your relationship with her,
. If i may add documents! to prove this.  In my case my sponsor bears the same name with me and i still had to draw a family tree and provide evidence of his relationship to my dad along with a well worded letter from him to back it up. If u have a sponsor that bears the same name with you, it would be safer to take that option. In the absence of such a person you may go for the option aforementioned. But Please Please Please and Please make sure the proof of relationship is more than convincing, talking from my friend's experience.
